I spent years thinking and debating what kind of tattoo I wanted and came up with a tattoo in my head and I was stuck on this idea of this tattoo. I wanted this tattoo very much and there is no way or no one that could change my mind because I made up my mind and thought about it for years. I am a person that overthinks everything. I went to different tattoo shops all throughout San Antonio. I found almost everyone was rude and acted like I had no knowledge of tattoo or what I wanted; many others tried to talk me out of it, or gave me ideas to change it. I never got a quote because they never took the time to understand what I wanted. I went to Platinum tattoos in April of 2014, first off the shop is very clean and the lady at the front desk was very nice and talked to me about each Artist, lucky for me an Artist was filling in for someone at the Dezavala location and his name was “Picasso”. This artist sure lived up to the name and was very nice and talked to me about the tattoo and quoted me right on the spot. This artist drew an outline of my tattoo without having anything to reference to, just the idea of the tattoo I wanted. The tattoo took about 4 hours, he talked to me throughout the process, and making sure I was doing ok. When he was done my mind was blown, I could not believe that he tattooed this amazing piece of art work on my body. For years I could only imagine this tattoo on me, and the tattoo was better than I could have ever imagined, I could not thank him enough. If you’re looking for a shop and you have high expectations then go to Platinum Tattoo, you will not regret it!!!
Mario is an amazing tattoo artist. He is great at what he does and I am SOOO happy that I got my ink done by him. Ask for him when you visit, he will most likely be working on something dope. Take a look at his stuff at mrwho.tk nothing but the best.
This tattoo shop was a bit skeptical on the outside but once I entered it was a whole different atmosphere! I highly recommend this shop to anyone. Reasonable price and super friendly tattoo artist. thanks doughboy
By far one of the best, if not, THE BEST tattoo artist I have ever had the pleasure of getting tattooed by! I gave him my idea and he drew me a custom tattoo that definitely exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend him and I'm definitely going back for more work!!!
I had an outstanding experience with this tattoo parlor. I am extremely pleased with my tattoo. The artist was Tobias Flores. He did an amazing job with the color, shading and detail. I'm definitely going back to Tobias for my next tattoo. He did my wife's first tattoo a few weeks back. I was…
My favorite place to go for a tattoo! Jason was very cool, respectful and made sure that my tattoo was done perfectly & actually listened to what I wanted.. will definitely come back to this shop! I'd recommend this tattoo shop to anyone!
My fiancé and I both got ours here. Won't go anywhere else they're like family. Chris did my side piece and it came out beyond what I imagined it to and he has a very steady hand and Rachel is just amazing. Highly recommended

I recently moved to TX and needed to find a good artist to make an addition to a tatoo I already had. I had the design, but for some reason it would not transfer. He (Mannny) had to hand-draw it, and let me just say that it was 100% perfect. The only thing was that they were only taking cash …

Had a forearm tattoo done here about 3 weeks ago. Though my appointment started at 3, I got out of class early (around 2:15) so I decided to head over there and hope my artist would be ready for me. Unfortunately he wasn't but it was no big deal since I cleared my entire day's schedule to get my tattoo. 2 1/2 hours later, he was finished with the stencil and it looked great! He got a slightly different picture than I had given him, but it was lighter and allowed him to copy more of the details hidden in my photo so that was a plus. We finally got started around 5:30pm. Almost 6 hours and 3 breaks later, he was finished. The detail in my finished tattoo was amazing! It was way above my expectations (no offense) of what I thought he could do. The only thing that's preventing me from giving this shop 5 stars is the fact that I spent close to 8 hours of my day for about an 8 inch tattoo on the inner part of my forearm. Wish there would have been less breaks or at least a slightly bigger size, but I am completely satisfied with my tat nonetheless. Definitely going back for my sleeve except this time I'm gonna check up to see how my stencil is coming along before I show up and spend a good chunk of my day just waiting.
After a horrible experience at the Platinum on 410 E where the practitioners were both rude and unattentive to clients, today i paid a visit to Platinum off Evers and I was pleasantly surprised at how different these shope are. Not only is the staff friendly and professional, but they value their clients and strive to please. Today I had 2 individuals who had to correct my lip piercing and 1 who gave me an amazing tat on my foot. They were clean, professional and definitely made up for the lack of quality found at the Platinum off 410 E. Even the manager was social and proactive with the clients despite some people's previous reviews as to him being a jerk, that is highly NOT the case. Platinum off Evers is the only place i will take my friends and sorority sisters, every other place is by far lacking in comparision. Thanks guys for your service and my brokn arrow. Ill definitely see you on mONDAY!!! -kRISTINA
Carlos Lemon did my first Tank Girl tattoo... and I couldn't be any happier with it. The photo I brought in on my phone was colored and I really wanted a black and white tattoo. He had no problem at all playing with the saturation and contrasts in the photo until we agreed on the right balance for the look that I wanted it to have. When it came to do the actual inking in he was very patient and fast.. as well as very gentle.. as gentle as you can be while sticking someone with various grades of needles. :) He answered any questions that I asked and over all the experience was by far my favorite of any other tattoo artist that i have ever visited. I have other tattoos from different artists from other parts of the country, but I am most satisfied with his work and hope to be revisiting him to do a tribute to my brother. :) Thank you Carlos! You Rock!!
If you want a REAL Texas Style Tattoo try Honest Charlie's. After seeing my friends tattoos I went there for one. You will get no kissass treatment and they do not do piercings, sell equipment or as Charlie told me "no disco pants or haircuts either" but they CAN tattoo. Charlie has been tattooing in SA for about 40 years and his son, Richard, grew up in tattoo shops. When I went some guys from S.Africa were visiting tattooers. They were cool but Charlie, Rich, Poison, and Cat are the ones. They were very busy so my tattoo didn't get finished until daylight but they seem to be open almost 24hours.Take cash and don't try for a discount. The prices are low already and they might tell you to screw off. I saw it happen.I have been back for more and send my friends.
All I can say is bugsy and his crew are awesome! Over 20 years of tattoo experience.. and the ONLY SHOP on the southside with that kinda experience! They are also the only shop with over 5 years experience in dermals.. as a customer I think its so uncool that other shops are trying to get rich off a well established phone number for 1.. and for 2 that the management condones such awful behavior from the employees.. I went in with a friend of mine the week they opened and all I could hear was 2 chatterboxes talking about another shop and trying to solicited facebook likes online.. really if u have to do that to promote ur business then ur probably not good enough to let your work speak for itself! Forget them haters addiction! U guys are by far the All STARS!
Ok, I went into Three jewels too price a tattoo because I was looking for a new artist. I showed the owner, Tony Trophy, what I wanted and he trashed it saying that he has done that tattoo so many times that he isn't going to do it again. (I have wanted this tattoo since I was young) I went back to him to get a memorial piece done for my little cousin (I sent him the picture of the butterfly I wanted him to use the day I made the appt.) and he used the wrong butterfly picture that he found on the day of the appt. I would not recommend coming to this guy or his other employees. All they do is talk crap about their clients when they leave and just not care. They are great artists, they do really amazing work but they are jerks. I hope this helped.
I went to Voodoo Tattoos yesterday for what is "supposed" to be my last tattoo. I took in a picture of what I thought I wanted it to look like. It's is a heart with my my wife's name in it and some more writing above it. Sketch looked at it and ask if I would be ok with him changing it up some to make it look better. He made some changes to it and made it look freaking awesome! It's the best tattoo I ever had. I'm not planning on getting anymore tattoos, but if I do, I will be going back to Sketch at Voodoo Tattoos. By the way....the tattoo is about 4 or 5 times the size of the last tattoo I got at Platinum and cost the same. Anybody wants to see a pic of it, drop me a email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Joseph Bowen is an artist and a professional. My wife and I went to the San Antonio Tattoo Expo because she wanted to get some ink done. I persuaded her to go with Joseph because I had seen his work before and was impressed with his talent. Joseph was great to work with. He and my wife discussed what she wanted and he sketched out some ideas on paper. My wife, who has several tattoos, is always a wimp when the inking starts but Joseph was patient and understanding through the entire process. The tattoo turned out great, the lines are clean and the colors blend together perfectly. Overall, my wife and I were highly impressed with Mr Bowen and would definitely recommend him.
Platinum tattoo on reverse is OK. The facility is clean, the staff is generally friendly and in good spirits, BUT a couple of the artists are inexperienced. My first tattoo experience was with platinum. All I wanted was a simple star on my wrist. Fast forward 5 years and 2 cover ups, the star still isn't completely straight. Everytime I go back to try to get it fixed, it Just gets worse. I have however gotten a very intricate shattered heart done by Dayton, and he couldn't have done a better job; I am very pleased with his work. I'm glad I gave them a second chance, but I wish they wouldn't just let ANYONE work there. A word to the wise, make sure your artist is experienced!
