TERRIBLE PLACE!! If you love your children, DON'T bring them here! So, I was ready to leave my 3 yr old and 6 month old at this preschool/daycare and I am glad I didn't! Irma the director was so impolite, she hardly speaks english and doesn't know how to communicate well with the parents. We had an argument over the phone about my children's start date. She questioned me about being sure I wanted to take my kids there and so on... she gave me an attitude, raised her voice, and even hung up the phone on me. The supposedly "teachers" there, don't even seem qualified for there jobs, inappropriate dressing. Security is not the best!! I figured all this out later on but on time before I left my children there! I all have to say about this matter is that if she treated me the way she did, imagine how she would treat my children!!
My husband and I had to write a review in favor to this preschool. We have our daughter here since she was an infant and now she's 3 years old. We love this preschool!! It has a warm, cozy and family oriented feeling and that's exactly what we were looking for our daughter. We have other relatives that have their kids in this school too and they're also very happy. We appreciate the love and concern the staff has always showed my family. Thank you Pepper Tree!!
I currently have my two children at this school and it makes me very sad to read some of the negative comments people have post. I have carefully inspect this school and many others in the area and feel confident and comfortable that my children spend most of the day at this facility. I m very happy with the staff, curriculum, hygiene and the quality of care my children receive.
Irma (the owner) is so cold as a person. She completely rubs me the wrong way about having my daughter there. It's almost as if she's giving us a hint that we're not paying her enough to deal with our child. She's constantly questioning about my daughter's eczema as if we aren't taking care of our baby at home. It's really offensive! She pushes us to bring Benadryl for our daughter to knock her out during the day - to make it easier for her, no doubt! I wanted to punch her in the face when she said that. We do NOT drug our children for our own benefit, who does she think she is?!?
The staff look miserable working there! Ms. Christine is a lovely woman who seems almost forced to smile everyday. Ms. Arlene is an angel who knows and understands my daughter's eczema problem and cares so well for her. I dont know the names of the other teachers but everytime I show up, they're always yelling at the kids and never a smile on their face when I greet them "hello" or "good morning". I don't blame them, if I had to work for Irma - I'd be miserable too! She's a cold hearted dictator who just wants money! I'm surprised this facility has lasted as long as it did, with all the violations it has.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. If you have a 2+ year old, there are better options out there for yoU! If you have an infant / toddler, you're better off paying a little more to enroll your baby in places like Kindercare - they take such great care of the babies.

I called the licensing agency (714-703-2800) about this place a little late, after I had already placed my kid in their care. According to the agent on the phone, this child care center has a ""chronic problem"" of exceeding the state-regulated maximum ratio of 12:1 for toddlers and 4:1 (kids:supervisors or aides). I saw these violations myself at least three times in three months during the minutes I was their to drop off my child. I also saw a boy in the 12-24 month old room being left ALONE twice in the span of two weeks confined in a high chair in the corner of his room while the rest of the class was outside playing. He was within eyesight of the supervisors in charge of the infant room, but still: he was isolated in a high chair for who knows how long. He wasn't my kid but I had to tell and called the licensing agency. The site visit by the agent found something else: there was no supervisor in that boy's room at all, for two weeks straight, only aides. This resulted in a $300 fine the following day.
My friends (who have kids in other daycares) hear about these and other items about La Palma Peppertree and they've been telling me to pull my kid out. Soon enough...but the place looks great and the staff seem so nice in your face (who knows what happens when you're gone). And my child seems OK...
If you or anyone you know want to check out this place, call licensing (714-703-2800) first to know the history of complaints and citations. Keep in mind that the owner/manager said that exceeding the supervisor to child ratio happens everywhere, all the time (meaning it's OK, right?). It's true what the other parent wrote: there are 3-4 new supervisors (not aides), about half of the total, in the last 3-4months taking the place of the ones who left. Keep in mind that eventhough it may be 65 degrees outside and windy, your kid will be eating lunch outside, shivering. Every facility has shortcomings, but this one stands out. Please beware.

Irma, the owner/manager, is the most defensive, retaliatory daycare service provider I've ever encountered. She manages this clean, sculpted facility like a dictator--my encounters with her left an awful taste in the mouth each time because she consistently distorted any comments I made and bared her claws and fangs. She emphasized every time that she and her staff can do no wrong, despite the history of citations.
Basically, I like the daycare. I'd like it much more if Irma left the scene and her infant care staff would stop giving the impression that the less days and hours they had to care for kids the better.
