Unprofessional, discourteous, unorganized, and rude. That's the present state of the company. We had major issues with our move and thought a partial refund was fair for the problems we had. The owner did not return phone calls until we had placed three phone calls to the corporate office. When he finally did call, he was defensive and shouting, lied constantly about the situation and his movers, and told me he had been dodging my calls because he knew I was demanding a partial refund "even though you don't deserve one." He also told me we were "lucky" to be moved at all because "several people didn't get moved that week." Seriously? You're moving people in and out of homes. It's a time sensitive endeavor. He said he wanted to "make sure he got ours done though." You canceled others just to get to ours? I have a bridge I can sell you. See if you can move that. Reading reviews on other sites shows this is a pattern of behavior to be expected from him. I would avoid the company.
Due to family, we moved from Knoxville, TN to Atlanta, GA (Alpharetta, GA)Sold ~ 4,000 sq/ft house June 2015. Wrote detailed scope of work document and sent out to/and received bids form 5 Moving and Storage Companies for the following services:1. put 80% of household goods in storage until we found a home in Alpharetta2. move remaining household goods into an apartment (1,200 sq/ft) in Knoxville3. once we found a house in Alpharetta, move all furniture from storage and apartment into Alpharetta home. After review and checking references (including my wifes real estate associated) we selected Gouffon MSC.We made the correct selection. They provided all of the services we requested:!. moving us out of the old house and into an apartment on the date and time promised2. properly storing house goods for six months 3. working with us on ever changing move-in date in Alpharetta, GA home (once we purchased the Alpharetta home, we did three weeks remodeling work and everyone knows contractor completion dates are always changing)4. handling our household goods and home (wall, floors, etc) with respect and care when moving from and into each location.On the agreed moving date, Gouffon loaded our household goods in storage on to a truck, moved us out of the Knoxville apartment and headed to Alpharetta, GA. The next day the truck was unloaded in Alpharetta and we were "in."We appreciated that Gouffon worked with us in a very professional manor to make the moving of our household goods from Knoxville, TN to Alpharetta

I was fortunate enough to have Gouffon Moving Co. move me in April and I have to say that I have used other moving companies, but I was 100% satisified with the professionalism and hard working men that moved me. They didn't take a break until everything was loaded (and it took 2 trucks and 4 men) and I feel that they went above and beyond what I thought was even possible. They were on time and and they were very polite and never complained one time about how heavy or how much stuff I had! I am staying at a temporary place and when I get to a permanent place, I will use them to move me a second time. I hope to get the same team of Gary McElhaney. I have the unfortunate circumstance of writing a negative review to advise other potential customers of my experience and my opinion. I have used other Two Men and Truck locations in other cities with a great experience. I have had a horrific experience of Two Men and Truck of Knoxville. And they run the clock like no other mover on their moves. The owner called me when I requested a phone and had absolutely no care about my concerns. It is sad when the customer is more polite and professional than a business owner. My next complain will be with the Attorney Generals Office of Tennessee, BBB, and Two Men and Truck Corporate to discuss their franchised business in Knoxville. I will not recommend nor advise any of my clients against this service. I read other negative reviews and should have listened but based on past experience in other states.. I assumed it would be different.

That's because the movers are technically transferring items between state lines, which means they'll be responsible for having the correct licensing and insurance in place.
Long-distance moves are much more complicated to plan, typically requiring you to pay numerous extra expenses for everything from shipping items to renting storage space.

Look for Reviews and Recommendations

The FMCSA can also tell you if any complaints have been filed against a particular moving company.
Check with the American Moving and Storage Association
For both local and long-distance moving companies, AMSA is another good place to check out a company's legitimacy. Moving companies aren't required to be an AMSA member, but the ones that are have committed to the association's rules and regulations, which protect both the companies and the consumers hiring them. If a company isn't an AMSA member, that doesn't mean it isn't reputable, but an AMSA membership is a clear indication of legitimacy.

Keep the Moving Area Safe

If you're moving on a snowy, icy or rainy day, keeping all of your paths, stairways and walkways clear and dry is crucial. The subject of tipping is relatively unclear when it comes to movers. However, there is a general rule of thumb that most people in the industry agree on: Tip your movers if they've done a good job and you think a tip is warranted.
Generally, a 5 percent tip is considered appropriate, though some people recommend paying $20 per day, per mover for basic, local moves. However, almost everyone agrees you should first do a quick walk-through of your home to check for any damage to your furniture or belongings and to make sure everything is where you'd like it to be.
