Bad prescription and terrible service
I had a very bad experience with Campbell Cunningham & Taylor. I’ll just hit the highlights to keep this brief. All I needed was a routine exam and prescription for my contacts (which I have worn for years). The prescription I was given was wrong. So wrong in fact, that after wearing the new contacts for one day, I had vertigo-like symptoms for over a week (very dizzy and nauseous). I spent two weeks wearing my glasses only before my equilibrium got back to normal (I’m relatively young and in good shape). I then went to another eye doctor in town (who was great), got a very different prescription than the one from CCT, and everything was just fine.
I can’t say the doctor at CCT gave me the wrong prescription because he never even checked it. His assistant did the testing to determine it and he never went back to review. After I put in the trial pair of contacts he gave me, I told him that things did not look right and I thought the prescription was off. He said not to worry, it was because my eyes were still dilated and everything would be fine after that wore off.
As if making me physically ill for more than a week wasn’t enough, they were extremely rude when I explained what happened and said I was not paying the remaining $40 balance on my account (I had already paid them nearly $300 and was not seeking to get that part back). I declined their suggestion to “get a lawyer” and just paid the remaining bill. So effectively, I paid CCT over $300 for a prescription I can’t use and for making me sick for more than a week. What a bargain! By the way, the exam from the second eye doctor I went to, the one that was so much better, cost over 70% less than CCT’s.
There was no available parking. Ok right a good sign. Dr Campbell's receptionist was busy assisting two patients for about 15 mins. She was very professional with them. To the right of her the other receptionist had her cell phone out sharing pictures with one another employee and doing this the whole time. A nurse came out I explained how hard this one receptionist was working while the other two were on there cell phones. She said they all have there own jobs to do. I know it is Dr's Campbell's right to pay employee's to do this. However, I will not trust my eyes or my husband's eyes to a place that is not focused or responsible for patients care. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinions.
I have a hard time believing these reviews...they seem suspicious to say the least! I have been a patient of CCT&H for 14 years, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this practice! I,along with my husband and my daughter, have undergone surgery with two of the doctors in this practice, and we all had great results. I have sent numerous friends and relatives to CCT&H, and I highly recommend this practice. I had a severe problem with my eyes and I had been to three other eye doctors before I went to CCT&H. My eye doctor at CCT&H ( am I supposed to say who I saw?) spent extra time with me and went out of his way to help me. Thank you!

My 73 yr old grandmother had an appointment at Campbell, Cunningham, and Taylor that she made over a year ago at her last eye appointment. We make the hour and half drive to west Knoxville. After waiting 10 minutes to be recognized by the receptionist, my grandmother is informed that she doesn't have an appointment for that day and that she is not even in the computer system (she has been going there since the early 90s). The receptionist could have cared less that my grandmother, who doesn't get around too well, had to make this trip down to Knoxville for absolutely no reason (not to mention gas being $3.50 a gallon).
I find Campbell, Cunningham, and Taylor's treatment of their patients disgusting. I would not recommend their services to anyone.
