I took 9 items of clothing to Broadway Alterations to have the waist brought in. One of the women measured me and we discussed how each article would be altered. I was asked if I wanted a few items completed first, I requested that my work slacks be done immediately. The woman advised that it would take about 2 weeks. 2 week check-in - I was told it would be another week. No problem at that point. 3 weeks - I was told the clothes had been taken apart but not put back together and that would take a day or two. I am no expert, but that seemed ridiculous. Few days later – An employee advised me that they were not finished but that she would put my clothes on the seamstress' chair so she would finish them that night. I asked for a quote, she said she could not provide me with one. Few days later - I was told she got behind because an employee was out for 2 weeks for a family emergency. I understand things come up, but I was repeatedly lied to and not given an honest update. I was then told that she would have them the next day. Next day - She still didn't have a quote and said she still didn't have all of the items completed. Few days later (1 month later) - I finally had the time, this morning, to go to the shop and check the status of my clothing because I feared I had been repeatedly lied to. The woman couldn't find my clothes so she looked in the back of the store and on a few chairs. I finally spotted then on the floor in 2 plastic Kroger bag. I looked at the clothes inside and they had not been touched since I dropped them off, a month ago! Now I understood why I didn’t get a quote, she had no clue how much labor was involved because she had not begun altering my clothes. Multiple employees lied to me about the status of my clothing on multiple occasions. Needless to say, I was upset. For an entire month, my clothes sat in the store, untouched when I could have taken them somewhere else.
I've been going to see Sandra for 10 years. She did my wedding gown and other investment pieces, and the odd seam or hem here and there. There isn't another tailor from here to Nashville who does what Sandra does, so bear in mind that she's busy because she's the best, hands down.
Lied to me twice !!!!!! "just getting started on my dress" the NEXT day after i waited almost 2 weeks for it to be done. Then Lies to me again and says she would call me back and also that "just finished it up!" and never bothers to call me!!!! I fell asleep or else id be up there already to just grab my item back from them! Poor communication, Unprofessional to the max! The store evens looks like a hoarders paradise! Don't see how they could find things. Please spare your time, aggravation and money and look elsewhere!
I took a dress to have it hemmed a month ago. I had been in there twice to pick up, because I was told it would be ready. Both times, it was not ready was told again, it would be the next in line, that I could come back at end of the day, but I told the lady that kept telling me all these lies, because I never talked with or seen Sandra G., that I would just pick up the following Tues. So I even waited until Friday to go pick up and guess what, this time I did talk w/Sandra G. and she told me that she wasn't sure how I wanted it hemmed, I had it pinned and told whoever this person is that helps her how I wanted it done, so she said she hadn't had time to call me to verify if how I had it hemmed was what I wanted. Unbelievable! Will never recommend this place to anyone!P.S. she needs a new HELPER the one she has is horrible!
I will NEVER be a client of Sandra's again! I took my dress to her on March 13, 2015 with plenty of time for her to get the dress done before my wedding on May 30, 2015. When the first fitting was over I scheduled the next fitting up front for April 24, 2015. I was so excited for my fitting to see how my dress was turning out until they called me the night before my fitting to tell me that my dress would not be done, when asked when they could get me in since I am a college student and cannot come to Knoxville at the drop of a hat she told me that she just really didn't even know what to tell me that I would have to figure it out myself. When I rescheduled the appointment for May 1, 2015 I told them that my sister and mom would also be coming in to get their second fitting done. They had no idea where their dresses were or what they looked like so that they would have them ready. After this horrible phone call I decided not to stress since I was going to get to go in a week to the fitting. On my way to my fitting on May 1st they called me 30 minutes before my fitting and told me that my dress was not ready and it would not be ready for a couple of days, I was pulling into their parking lot at this time! While in the shop I found out that they had a bride in there that was trying to get her dress finished and her wedding was in 5 days and they still were not done, and many other countless brides that had been there for many hours trying to get their gowns! Seeing all of these brides and the lack of responsibility that was put forth for my dress was the last straw for me! I took my dress to a different alterations place that was very helpful! And to top it all off I did not receive a sorry for the inconvenience or anything! All of the things that I was put through for my dress alterations was very unprofessional and unacceptable!
I only started using Sandra because the previous person I used retired. I also get clothing altered ALL the time because it's very difficult for me to purchase stuff off the rack. I brought 2 pairs of scrub pants to Sandra to let out. I was told upon dropping off that it could be done. Fast forward more that 3 months. I go by to ask if they were done and why no one had called me. I was told that they could not be altered. So my pants were there for over 3 months getting NOTHING done to them and no one thought to call me during that time. They have lost hundreds if not thousands of dollars in business from me today for their lack of professionalism.
Excellent customer service, compared to several in the area. Very nice on the phone, even nicer in person. Great quality work, done in a timely manner. Competitive pricing. Highly recommend,
Such a disappointment. I had to get my brand new wedding dress dry cleaned before my wedding due to the condition that it was in when I picked it up from this place. The floors were so filthy that my wedding dress (which was brand new from Alfred Angelo) was black around the bottom after wearing it in the shop to get altered. The job was very messy, leaving loose threads all throughout the layers of my dress. On top of that, the prices were very high!
I got my wedding dress altered here and it was the WORST experience I had with the whole wedding process. Would highly recommend all my other vendors, but Sandra G's was horrible. I went back for my 2nd and 3rd fitting and each time they have not even bother to start on the alterations until I showed up for the appt, so every appt takes a minimum of 2 hours. They butchered my dress and FORGOT TO PUT ON THE HOOKS FOR MY BUSTLE. They remembered loops, but I was very disappointed when I got to our reception and found this mistake, luckily my dad had safety pins. They said they pressed the dress, but returned the dress to me wrinkly. Do not use Sandra G's. Very unprofessional and a waste of money.
I have taken two articles of clothing (pants and a dress) to Sandra G's and both have ended up with seams coming undone after wearing them for a couple hours. After the pants fiasco, where the seam in the rear came undone during work, I decided to give them one more chance and took a dress there. Long story short, the dress also ended up with a separating seam. Though Sandra does a good job fitting the clothes and cutting them to size, she does not seem to sew over the seam multiple times at the end, causing the stitching at the ends of the seams to come loose. To me, if I pay to have clothes taken care of, they should not be falling apart when they are returned to me. I will be finding another alterations place!
