Preventive Care

Dental Care
In order to perform a complete oral health procedure (OHP) safely and painlessly, your pet will require general anesthesia. Please see our Surgery page for more information on anesthesia at Kittanning Veterinary Hospital.
Vaccination
Kittanning Veterinary Hospital offers Large Animal services. This includes dairy and beef cattle, horses, pigs, sheep and goats, and llamas and alpacas. Our large animal veterinarians travel to area farms and perform regular dairy herd preventative care visits, sick animal exams and treatments, and routine services such as vaccinations.
Comprehensive Examination
Just like humans, dogs and cats need regular dental care that includes at-home maintenence, regular professional cleanings, and oral health examinations. Dental disease doesn’t just affect oral and tooth health, it can cause disease in other organs, including the heart, kidneys, and liver.

Throughout your pet’s life, we encourage regular health examinations by a doctor, and we will develop a vaccination schedule based on individual risks. We also address flea, tick, and intestinal parasite control throughout life; and appropriate nutritional needs based on age and lifestyle.

Throughout the procedure, our trained technicians monitor heart rate, breathing rate, blood oxygenation levels, and anesthetic depth. We monitor all pets after anesthesia to make sure they’re warm and comfortable.
