WELCOME TO ARTIQUES! Our mothers lead us to many places and in many directions. Mine taught me about beautiful things in our many trips to the antique stores she enjoyed so much. She also tried to teach me to cook, clean and play golf. These didn't stick, but that love for the past certainly did! Her skilled hands with a needle and thread showed the differences in quality stitchery and embroidery. Her ability to combine colors in a quilt that looks like a kaleidoscope and served to keep her family warm during cold winters of the Depression, is pure artistry. Her love for rare and beautiful furnishings and accessories carried over to my own appreciation of exceptional arts and craftsmanship. Throughout my life I have studied the "things left behind" from a cultural point of view and personal as well. Things worth passing down from generation to generation are loved and embued with meaning. Like a beautifull garden precious objects are carefully nurtured and cared for. They survive many winters and are passed along with love. We share the past through this unique shop. When my mother and I spent time together during her last years we would often discuss her favorite things. I found out that most of them came from shops like mine and she enjoyed them for a time but was happy to share with someone who would appreciate them. I hope you will drop by ARTIQUES soon to enjoy browsing and maybe find something special that you will want to pass along.
