We save this place for special occasions. It's pricey to say the least, but it is SO worth it. The steaks are always wonderful and the bread is warm and good. The salads are very nice. The service could use a bit of upgrading. They really don't seem to care how you're doing or if you need anything. The only real complaint I have are the booths. They are so incredibly uncomfortable to sit in. They're hard and slop back a bit. Get a table.
This is our second time eating here. The first visit was a little better than today! My husband had the porterhouse steak. Although not inexpensive for the Porterhouse, it was a bit of a smaller steak and thinner than you see at most steakhouse's, also It was also barley warm. It came with a side of cold beans but the potato was the only thing not cold. The salad however was chilled but the iceberg lettuce was starting to get that rust color. I had the veggie Burger, it was okay but I did ask for grilled onions that I did not get, the fries were cold. We gave it a fair shot but will NOT be back.
I went here to get a nice meal to go for my father that's been sick and stuck at home. Ordered a full rack of baby back ribs, a 24 ounce porterhouse, and an appetizer of oysters on the half shell. The ribs and steak were FANTASTIC as were the oysters. My steak was more tender then fillet and the ribs falling of the bone, juicy and yummy. They even made me a special container for the oysters with ice wrapped in plastic to keep them cool. The steak wasn't cheap though $45 so if it says market value on the menu be prepared to pay. Best damn steak I ever had though, didn't even have to put salt or pepper on it when I got it home it was seasoned and cooked perfectly.
This place has a lot of history and you can see it throughout the restaurant. I was there on a Labor Day for dinner and this place was overall good. Most of the steaks are around $20-$25 range . They weren't amazing steaks and don't live up to it's historical past as "THE" place to go to back in the old days (per my family who lives there) but they were fairly good and the mashed potatoes were excellent. The service was fair and I would definitely go back.
Dam Nachos..... THE GREATEST EVER!!
