I went there with my sister one morning and everyone was served their drinks before us. I understand they were busy but that's not excuse to serve out of order. My sister addressed the situation and they didn't apologize or anything. They just said they will get them out soon. Poor service.
So, when my fiance and I were looking for a fast place to grab lunch on our lunch breaks, we thought we would give Bonnie s Corner Cafe a try. When we talked in we were a little nervous, as we only had about 40 minutes to eat and account for travel time as well. It looked like a sit down diner. There were only 2 other tables filled. I heard it was under new management and it did not look to be doing too well. We decided it wa too late to go anywere else and give it a try. WOW! My fiance for the 1/3lbs burger and I got the 1/3lbs patty melt. It took the food about 8 minutes to arrive at our table. I order the soup of the day and before it cooled off good, my food was arriving, which i didn t mind. We have been back every week since then. On our last visit we decided to try the lunch menu. I order the friend chicken dinner and she said they were out of chicken, then i tried for the country friend steak and they were out of that as well. I was getting a little uneasy but she suggested we try the sirloin steak dinner. Because of her good rep with us we gave it a try. WOW, AGAIN! The meal started with soup or salad. and one again THE SOUP WAS AMAZING. The dinner included 2 decent size steak pieces(on each of our plates), choice of potato, coleslaw, mushrooms and onions on steak and a scoop of ice cream. I was nervous to see the bill for a healthy size meal. However, the bill was on $16.50. (noting that me and fiance for the steak dinner.) Needless to say, i am going back tonight for dinner and will probably we a regular there. GO BONNIE!!!
The food is great. Tamales are to die for.
What an experience! Upon searching the internet looking for a new place to eat I came upon the name Jack's Cozy Cafe. My friend and I were going to be in Kenosha at a craft fair and we agreed we would give it a shot. WOW! She ordered a polish skillet and 2 pancakes. She requested basted eggs and Chef Mark asked her if she wanted them basted with butter or water. She chose butter and she was amazed how incredible they tasted and she was absolutely thrilled with her whole meal. She used the phrase "it's like a party in my mouth"! My eggs and bacon were done superbly. The bacon was as crispy as I like it. The American Fries had onions in them cooked to perfection. She could not eat both pancakes so I had one and oh wow they were so fluffy and tender. Upon leaving we said we would be back in the future. We talked in the car and said we would go back just for breakfast. It will be worth the drive as we live in Milwaukee! A very, very delightful experience!!
Ever heard of a Migada? Not Miyagi, as in Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid, but Migada! It's a grilled corn patty, sliced in half and filled with your choice of beef, pork, chorizo, asado, or chicken. At La Fe Cafe, they make their Migadas as they are ordered, so you are served a fresh, hot, and wonderfully tasty Migada. I ordered a pork Migada meal and boy was it a meal! The Migada was about 6 or 7 inches in diameter. The corn patty was crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The pork filling was moderately spicy and oh so delicious! If the Migada wasn't enough, my meal also included a side of seasoned rice, refried beans, as well as lettuce and tomato. Based on my visit, the meal was fresh, rustic, and warmed-your-belly. The menu listed many other tempting dishes, which I will be trying over the course of my next several visits. If you appreciate authentic Mexican cooking, you must try this cafe.
My new food favorite -- the shrimp soup at La Fe!!!
Just had a FANTASTIC lunch at this new authentic Mexican restaurant. The food is outstanding! I had the chicken chimichanga which had tender shredded chicken and beans in a flakey crispy crust topped with sour cream and guacamole on the side. The atmosphere is very bright and cheery. The staff friendly and knowledgable. Prices are very reasonable. I'll definitely be back again. If you live anywhere between Milwaukee and Chicago, you should definitely check out this Mexican jewel in Kenosha.
