Business Description
East Jefferson After Hours opened in October 2002. Our Medical Director (Gerry Cvitanovich) had been an Emergency Department Physician at East Jefferson Hospital since 1992. He saw the increasing success and popularity of evening/weekend Urgent Care Centers in other cities. Our community had no such facility, thus the idea for East Jefferson After Hours was born. Kenner was chosen for the first location - in a building owned by East Jefferson General Hospital. Although the Hospital is the building owner and landlord, the practice is 100% physician owned. Our unique hours, coupled with the services we provide quickly made East Jefferson After Hours a valuable resource to our patients. The facility is also a favorite of Insurance Companies, as they value facilities which offer patients with minor illnesses/injuries an alternative to the Emergency Department. Numerous physicians are also happy to utilize East Jefferson After Hours for their patients who need urgent attention on evenings/weekends. Patients they refer to East Jefferson After Hours are treated appropriately and referred back to them for any additional treatments necessary. We enjoy an excellent relationship with the emergency departments at East Jefferson General Hospital, Ochsner Foundation Hospital, and Ochsner-Kenner Medical Center. In March 2006, a second location was opened on Veterans Hwy in Metairie. It has the same hours as our Kenner location. In March 2006, both locations underwent inspection by the Urgent Care Association of America. We received the Accreditiation Award of Distinction. We are the first Accreditied Urgent Care Center in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area. East Jefferson After Hours is very proud of our accomplishments to date and our employee family looks forward to expanding services in the future to meet the community's needs. In 2008, East Jefferson After Hours and its affiliated clinics were approached by the Urgent Care Association of America and asked to be the first Urgent Care Centers in the United States to undergo Accreditation Survey by The Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) for the Urgent Care Association. JCAHO is known as "The Gold Standard" for measuring quality of healthcare organizations. East Jefferson After Hours underwent the extensive JCAHO survey in January 2009 and passed with flying colors. Our employee family is very proud of this achievement.

Overall

Was seen late today for 3 day history of hives. The staff were all very friendly and courteous. The doctor was knowledgeable. It was so much better than going to an ER. What others need to understand is that this is not an emergency room. You need to discern if this an *emergency* or something that you would normally see your doctor. I would definitely recommend this clinic for non emergent medical care.

Overall
Urgent Care???

I visited the urgent care on August 27th because my 76 year old mother had an attached with ibs that caused her so much pain that she passed out. After she came too, I took her to this facility to have her checked out.

i approached the window and explained the situation. The young lady walked over to another counter which I could not see who she was talking to. When she returned she explained due to my mother's age and the fact she passed out, they would not see her and I needed to take her to the emergency room. I again asked to just take her blood pressure and she said no, they would do nothing.

I understand they cannot treat this type of condition, but I did expect the doctor to at least come out look at her and make sure she wasn't dying or dead . Maybe advise me where the nearest hospital is located, offer to call an embulance. Instead the doctor didn't even talk to me! He/she didn't budge from the chair. They didn't care at all about the patient. It was a horrible feeling being in a place of "care" and get absolutely nothing! There I was with my 76 year old mother who was ill and no one cared enough to talk to me. I felt like I was in a no man's land.....

I will never visit this facility again and hope they change their bedside manner and at least show some compassion and assist or guide patients to the care facility that is needed.
