I made an appointment with Epic Styles after I purchased a groupon for a cut and full highlight. As a busy mom of 3, I have to completely plan for things like this because it takes time. I got the babysitter, fought the traffic and arrived just prior to my appointment time. When I walked in I walked to the counter and no one acknowledged me. I could see that the stylist was just starting her initial consult with another client when I arrived. I took a seat and figured someone would surely walk out and assist me. After 15 minutes of no one looking at me (sitting only 5 feet away) I decided to walk up and interrupt the stylist to see about getting help. The stylist, also owner, Becky, decided to take a walk in the same time as my appointment and told me she was unable to do my hair until she finished walk-in's hair. (which was going to take a long time, the lady had really long hair and was doing completely highlights and lowlights and cut) There was another stylist in the back. So I asked if she was able to do my hair. Becky Told me the other stylist that was working was unable to do my hair because she was fresh out of school and was too nervous. I told her I was unable to stay, at this point I did not want to stay. She basically could care less. Not even sorry. I was very nice the entire time and cannot even comprehend how people can be so thoughtless sometimes. I completely felt like I was put on the backburner because I was a groupon holder. It was a complete waste of my time and money. I will be contacting groupon to get my money back. Maybe they shouldn't offer groupons if they don't want to service them.
I have been coming to Kess Salon on and off since it opened five years ago. I used to really enjoy it and recommend it to others. Unfortunately, after recent events I will never go back. The past couple of visits I have had HORRIBLE experiences with Renee Richardson. This review pertains to her specifically. I went in for highlights recently and came out with the most AWFUL, inconsistent, streaks in my hair. The "highlights" were painted in a harsh, blunt, horizontal line about three inches down from my part on both sides. That is definitely not the look I was wanting. In addition to the harsh lines, the color of the "highlights" ranged from either a coppery-orange shade to a bleach blonde shade despite me asking for the highlights to be strictly caramel. Renee blamed the wretched turnout on the fact that I have had highlights previously, but that was TWO years ago. There's no way that highlights I had TWO YEARS ago caused the botched hair job she did. I have dyed my hair one, solid color about once a month every month in the two years since my last highlights and have never seen signs of the old highlights "peeking" through, so I am not buying that sorry excuse. I am furious to have lost so much money on this coloring job. Not to mention I am incredibly embarrassed to walk around with this mess on my head.
Whitney has been my therapist for two and one half years (approximately 40 appointments). She maintains the highest professional standards at all times. Whitney has some of the most amazing people skills I have ever seen in any field. It seems to be one of her natural gifts. She could teach a class on bedside manner in medical school. Whitney cares about her clients while maintaining professional boundaries. She makes me feel completely at ease. Whitney has the touch. She can sense what areas need work without me saying anything. Last summer, I doubled up on my running to keep my weight below the limit for my first skydive. My shins started feeling the strain. I did not say a word to her about it. At my next appointment she spent more time on my shins than any other appointment before or since. I do not know how she knew. It still amazes me. Whitney is perfectly willing to listen to me describe what is bothering me. She simply does not seem to need the description. She will also customize her pressure and modalities to what is needed or requested. Whitney follows my lead regarding conversation. If I am not talkative, she works quietly. If I start a conversation, she is delighted to talk. She always respects my privacy, and does not ask me any personal questions unless it is a topic I raise. Whitney is very reliable. In 40 appointments, she only called in sick twice, once when she had the flu and once when she broke her ankle. She notified me several hours (several days in the case of the broken ankle) before my appointment so that I did not drive in. Whitney has a roomy suite in the Venetian Salon. She has decorated it beautifully. Her table is heated and she sets the temperature according to my requests. Whitney plays relaxing music and is willing to work with me to play music I like. Whitney is more expensive than some therapists, but she is worth every penny. Working with Whitney is about as close to perfection as you can get. Whitney makes her own appointments. I love getting my hair done here. It is very high quality. You get what you pay for. All the stylists are very sweet. They keep it clean very clean. Restrooms are NEVER dirty. I love that they just got a coffee bar. They also serve other drinks here. I have been going here for years !! I would not go anywhere else!
I must admit I took a double take on previous reviews and wondered if I was reading about same salon. I started going to my hairstylist Lena a couple of years ago. She always kept her area clean, is honest about what style works best for my face and always seems to know trends and fashion. I manage an apartment community in the area and refer residents to her because of her professionalism. I will continually refer people to this salon because of its atmosphere and friendliness.
This place is amazing!! She is very friendly and great at what she dose. I have very thick hair. many places take a min time of 4 hours to give me full hilights. She has done them in nearly half of the time and on top of it its the best highlights I have ever gotten. I highly recommend this place! Also very affordable!!
I have been going to epic styles since they opened. The owner Becky, is amazing! I've had my hair cut, colored, permed, straightened, and styled there throughout the years. She can do anything. I'm always happy when I leave. Plus her prices are better than great clips! Can't beat that!
