Fun atmosphere, great food. Went within the first week of them opening and was amazed by the art and badass burgers. Best fries since Burger King back in the day. Gotta try it!
The one on Barry Rd looks like it was built in the 50's and never cleaned or maintained since. Makes u want to take shower as soon as you get home. We went out for breakfast. The old location of 54th St in the strip mall behind it ( Big Biscuit) has a 20 minute wait. I waited a few minutes and talked to people who were waiting. Everybody had the same opinion about Winsteads . A good Burger and shake, but the place is rundown and filthy. In the 90's people used to flock to this place but due to neglect by the owner, people would rather wait in line for mediocre food at a strip mall. Shame on non-caring owner.
Beware. Merchant refused to provide a sales receipt. This is illegal.
First off, the food wasn't very good at all, and definitely wasn't fast, but that really wasn't the worst of it, or enough that I would submit a review.Tonight I went through the drive thru, ordered food, and realized as I drove off that my wife wanted her burger a certain way. Pull up to the window, a couple minutes later the cashier opens the door, hands me a soda, tells me it's the Pepsi, and then as I try to quickly ask her while handing her my card if it "would be too late to add [such and such toppings] to the burger", but by the time I got to, "I was just wondering if it would be too late to..." she cuts me off mid-sentence, almost tosses the other soda at me and says, "hold on for just a moment" and walks away to take another order. 45 seconds later I see another employee wrapping up and bagging what ended up being our order. This other employee then comes up about a minute later, and hands me the bag, and eventually a receipt for me to sign and quickly walks off. The entire time, might I add, there was only one car behind us, no line, and as we drove off, we saw zero customers inside. So it wasn't like they were brutally busy or anything. The first girl we dealt with then hands me the cyclone we ordered, quickly says, "have a nice night" and shuts the window before I could say anything. So, this employee clearly couldn't care less what I had to say to begin with, and wasn't thoughtful enough when she came back to let me complete my thought. No apology at any sort. The people who work here are bad, and they should feel bad. Will never eat here again.
A group of friends of mine and I took our kids for a fun outing at Crown Center last week and we wanted to treat the kids to lunch. (total group of 18) We had THE SINGLE WORST experience there and what's even worse is when we tried to explain our dissatisfaction to the Manager on duty (Michael) he rolled his eyes, threw up his hands and told me to 'just leave'. His server, Kaitlin, was the laziest and most rude person in the food and beverage industry. After my friend who had put our name on the waitlist asked her about separate checks (before we got seated), Kaitlin told her 'I can't do that. I will just have to give the check to one of you moms and you can split it up'. Even though we thought that was rudely unaccommodating, we still decided to eat there since our kids were hungry and it seemed like a fun place. Big mistake. Kaitlin took FOREVER to get us drink refills, was lethargically walking around our table as if she would rather be walking through fire than be at work. At the end when we received our bill all on one check, I informed her that only one of us was paying cash and the rest of us had cards. She acted like it was the most difficult thing in the world to divy up the bill and when I got up to go talk to her manager, I simply asked 'I don't see what's so hard about splitting up the bill if I tell you what I ordered and everyone else does the same.' Kaitlin then said to me (in front of Michael, her manager), 'It ISN'T difficult but when you first got here I asked your friend if you wanted me to do that and SHE SAID NO, TO JUST PUT IT ALL ON ONE CHECK!' I was flabergasted! Are you serious?? She had just bold-faced lied to her manager and to us in an effort to conceal the fact that she's actually told us something much different. When my friend and I confronted her in front of the manager, Michael, she denied it again and again and her Manager actually questioned us (the paying customers!) in a tone that was very rude and totally uncalled for! These people have NO IDEA what it is to be in the restaurant business! Her manager told me he 'didn't appreciate us calling his employee a liar', however she CLEARLY IS and we would certainly not have anything to gain by making this up! We were just as eager to pay and get out of their way if they had just split the checks from the beginning. After he told me to get out and leave, I told him that he is the most ridiculous restaurant employee I've ever seen and has no business being there. I asked for his General Manager's card, which he did give me but then said, 'I don't care who you tell or what you say.' They single handedly ruined an entire day of fun for me, my friends, and our kids. Crayola should be outraged at their conduct towards us as paying customers and well-connected moms in our community.
This place is so good and a great place to take your family, especially if they are a combination of meat eaters and vegetarians!
