We've put together a small list to get you started on your journey -- and the first step starts with a single box.
Pros: Open concept, large ceilings, fire place, garage, carpeted, large bathroom, maintenance is on site. Cons: Parking is a nightmare! They don’t enforce the two car rule. If you have a sedan longer than a Chevy impala it won’t fit whatsoever. Don’t even think about SUVs. Office management is difficult to work with.The day we moved in our fridge wasn’t cooling down. Turns out it pretty much died and needed a new mechanism, at first. So they had to get permission from the owner of the place (never did) and their policy is wait three days before they go in themselves. Mechanism doesn’t work, and we need a new fridge. Takes 2 more days. In those first 6 days of moving in, we spent a good $30 on ice to save our food, and lost about $100 worth of food. No check or even apology to make up for something they didn’t check or even turn on beforehand. Silverfish and house centipedes galore—they only spray for spiders and ants. When we complained they said it was merely a “nuisance.” When you’re killing about 6 of them in your bedroom a day, there’s probably 100x more hiding somewhere else. We paid for at least $100 in bug guard and spraying ourselves. Office isn’t willing to work with you—we wanted to get a dog about two months before our lease was up. They still wanted the full deposit ($500+monthly). Asked if they can work with us since we were moving out anyways. Nada. Claimed it needs to be the same for everybody. FYI making someone pay the $500 when they move in versus another person $500 for 2 months left is not equal.They will make you pay for the majority of the maintenance required, or it isn’t fixed until a week later. We had a toilet running—got it fixed and then we went out of town for 2 weeks. Wasn’t actually fixed and had to pay $250 in water because they didn’t fix it the first time.Don’t expect to get your full deposit back--they will clean the carpets and take it out of your deposit, regardless if they’re clean or dirty--took out over $100.
These are very oooollllldddd buildings (1926) with lots of maintenance issues all the time. We just had a notice posted that the hot water will be off for a month because they are replacing the pipes. How are we supposed to deal with that? It has already been off once or twice a week for several months. Staff is nice when you complain but it isn't like they are going to knock any money off your rent for tolerating this. Our apartment had roaches really bad when we first moved in but they eventually got them taken care of. Dryers take over an hour to dry a load of clothes which ends up costing over $2. Also two of the three coin operated washers will wait until you almost get your $1.50 deposited then they will have a glitch and show you haven't put any money in. Parking is a big issue. You can choose between parallel parking on the street and getting your car bumped about once a month or pay for a parking garage that is 2 blocks away or pay them to park in their lot with very small spaces that are very cumbersome to exit. Be sure to try parking in the space and leaving before you enter into a lease for one of their parking spaces! The spots along Roanoke require you to remove your car by 7am or it gets towed so beware! Don't underestimate the noise and dust coming from the Plaza Vista construction project. With the new hotel and office building going in over there it will make this place even more noise and congested. These buildings are all concrete and brick with no insulation so expect your utility bills to be very high. They say your heat is free from a steam boiler but they only turn them on sporadically. You end up paying for an electric heater to stay warm then wake up in the middle of the night burning up because you left a radiator knob open and they finally turned the boiler on - then you open a window to cool down - totally ridiculous. These radiators knock when they come on and some of the radiators you can't turn off all the way so they always heat. Of course there is no thermostat to set to control them like modern systems have. If you think this is your best solution then you DEFINITELY HAVEN'T LOOKED HARD ENOUGH!!!
My apartment may be small, but I have good neighbors and only having to pay electric is really nice. Not that long after I moved in, I lost my job and was on unemployment and had trouble paying my rent on time. The office worked with me for several months making arrangements to pay late so I could get caught up. I felt really bad about my situation, but the office was as supportive and kind as they could be. Parking isn't too bad. I just go with the free parking and sometimes I have to park a couple blocks down when I get home really late, but I still usually get a spot in the lot next to my building. The elevators have been so much better since they updated them. I used to have to take the stairs frequently, but a couple years ago they redid them and it's such an improvement. I like the area, too. There's the park across the street and there are several restaurants nearby and a corner convenience mart a couple blocks down. It's pretty easy to get around.Overall, I'd say this place as been a great place to live
I have lived at Carrington Place for almost 5 years. I love it. It feels like a home with my own front door (no stairwells) and an attached garage. I never hear my neighbors and I know most people that live around me. They plan resident events like breakfast, bingo and bunco. The pool is gorgeous and they have done a lot of upgrades. It is a great value for the money.
My momma lived in bridgeport apartments in south kc....its 1 of yarco properties and u can tell by how its ran. dont move there unless u can pay for bail and a good lawyer...the manager kathy is so ghetto and unprofessional its crazy that shes in charge of a complex. i got a dozen stories of how they treat people there but only 1 is civil enough to text here. Kathy and her team was once in my disabled mommas apartment doing inspection while i was at work and she was so rude and disrespectful. this woman had the nerve to say the carpet looked damaged so talk to her about work orders when we give her money. the carpet was in very used shape bc it looks like it had a rush clean job before she moved into the place and we was told that it would be took care of but it never was. when my child told me how rude she was to his grandma i nearly lost it but had to remember it was my mommas place not mine...I asked around and my mommas neighbors all had stories about kathy and how the place is run. Instead of reading reviews and asking emails... If corporate really cared they would send somebody door to door to ask how management is and theyd hear how tenants get treated there. ..it usually takes alot to get me upset but those people know what buttons to push and how to push them...they disrespect u your apartment and your children and go on like its business as usual. they wouldnt give me the number to the parent company yarco but when i found it another way it didnt even matter...weeks went by till i got to talk to somebody but before that they didnt call back at all. i got to talk to the regional manager who was also named kathy and told her what happened...she came up with some clueless story about how she had no idea what happened. am like okay , well now u have a idea what happened and after talking to others in bridgeport i know am not the only one with problems with management and maintenance so what are u guys going to do about it? yes i asked this question and i was told that i would get a call back after she talked to the complex manager. months passed and i got no call but the problems got worse...my neighbors told me that my momma had unannounced visitors from the office within mins after i took her to the doctors..her alarm wasnt turned back on and this happened twice. 1 of her neighbors said the same thing happen to him and after he told the office how upset he was he was soon evicted so i was scared to even say anything till i found her another place first...i cant have my disabled momma out on the streets...i called work orders in for her and they said they would send somebody over who never came. i had heard about alot of unsolved suspicious break ins in the complex from former neighbors who came and left while momma lived there but i had no idea that the ghetto staff could be involved till after reading some of the reviews.... its all too coincidental and after reading other reviews and talking to other tenants they had almost the same stories. yarco dont care about their residents and the managers of their property treat u like crap and they act like gangsters. i thought moving momma out of there would be easy and it would be over but i was wrong....we was told that she owed them money for carpet damage and wouldnt get her deposit back bc of it. if they took care of the carpet like they promised then the carpet wouldnt be damaged in the 1st place. it was in pretty much the same shape it was when she moved in.... i even had it cleaned since the manager kathy wouldnt send a carpet cleaner team over to repair the carpet during my momma stay there. DONT MOVE INTO BRIDGEPORT OR ANY YARCO PROPERTY IF U WANT A SAFE SECURE PLACE TO CALL HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
The most disgusting place I have ever rented. The property is dirty with dog poops everywhere. The move-out experience is worst. Expect to pay hundreds even if you keep the house in original condition. Stay away from this place.
I don't even know where to start with how bad this apartment complex is ran. No idea who actually owns the place to complain about office staff or problems not being solved. The newest office lady Norrisha is just a walking attitude problem (mainly just towards other women) who claims no responsibility for the mistakes she makes. Coming into apartments with no notice and not even knocking before entering. Their pest control consist of them coming in to basically just be noisy because they don't spray or anything. They redid the parking lot but I'm not sure if I would prefer the potholes over the fact that you could possibly hit another car driving down the parking lot because there isn't enough room between the back and front parking to get through. They redid the siding over the summer (which is already falling apart) of all the buildings and phone service is beyond horrible. To make a call you either have to stand by the back window or go outside no other way around it. And forget about getting incoming calls. It's pretty much a legit crackhead breeding ground. Faulty outlets and light fixtures not being fixed. They state in the lease there is neighborhood patrol or crime watch which is a joke because pretty much every older model car over here has been broken into along with some apartments. Any apartment that has to emphasize the buddy system is probably a horrible place to live. I full heartedly regret moving here.
There is a reason why the best reviews about Yarco properties come from their own employees and the worst come from their residents. This alone should be revealing as to how they do business. They are a family run operation and know nothing about professionalism , decency , compassion or intregity. They only care about your money and will say anything to keep getting it from you. They act like the mafia when you try to get them to fix things and definitely when you try to leave the property. I lived on a Yarco property for years and in those years I had been flooded 3x and after each time I had no new carpet only replaced padding under it. I had no new paint on my walls , the countertop damage from a previous tenant was spray painted over but never repaired , I was disrespected by the manager and her staff , I was burglarized , my car was vandalized , cockroaches invaded my apartment from my neighbors place and I had to self exterminate cause the complex manager refused to send an exterminator over. 2 months later during my inspection she tells me my apartment smells bad and I say it is the bug bombs since you will not send an exterminator. Her exact words were 'I will send the exterminator when I feel like it'. I asked if she thinks that is how a professional is supposed to act and she tells me 'you know what? don't get beat up'. Like really? I contacted corporate to tell them that this is how the property manager of Bridgeport Apartments in Kansas City treats residents and yeah she is still working there. That should say more than enough about how Yarco really feels about their property tenants.Whoever works for Yarco and is replying to these reviews can save the energy and not waste my time with the same crappy response you are giving to everyone else. No I am not going to send you an email that we both know will not get a response. I have called and emailed Yarco multiple times since living on your property and only one call from Yarco was made to me. Why was it made? It was made because someone at Yarco heard from the property manager and she lied about everything. The Yarco representative only called to insult me and deny my claims. Then had the nerve to say 'I don't need to talk to the manager of your complex cause I know her very well and she would never do that'. I said I had proof of everything I was reporting to Yarco and these slum lords did not even want to see it. I swear that if I could have afforded to break the lease and if I had anywhere else to go after my first year I would have been off of their property. I pray for the day that unprofessional people like these and their properties are out of business. I do not recommend any respectable person to rent from these people. I promise that if I could afford an attorney I would be fighting you all in court for all you have done to me and my children.
Paying for the location, but it was worth it.Apartments are decent-the carpet is cheap-elevators are very small-staff is nice-maintenance is quick -no central air-had a little roach problem but maintenance fixed this quickly as well as our AC unit going out -AC unit does not keep apartment really cool during the summers-pipes in shower/tub start to smell sometimes-lots of character, closet space and cabinet space-packages are always kept in a secure area-noise wasn't an issue other than renovating the apartment above us as I work nights this became a problem but only lasted a few weeks -washers area in basement and is not the cleanest space-residents left doors to building open a lot so there was some theft from the basement storage units but felt safe a majority of the time-Lived on the first floor, if windows were open ward parkway was always noisy, but this was expected-neighbors were mostly young and kept to self, a few creepy older men lived here and made me a bit uncomfortable-PARKING IS SO EXPENSIVE, DO NOT PAY FOR IT never had an issue finding spots in the 2 hour limit area, they never ticket for being there unless you don't move your car for 2 or 3 days. Parking garages SUCK you don't get reserved parking and end up parking on the 3rd or 4th floor, and it is very sketchy at night!!! If you are going to pay for parking just buy the spaces through the apartment, they are a little more expensive, but at least you will always have a spot-Old white man does walk around apartment at night... Apparently he is "keeping us safe?" I guess it was "Security?"-All of the restaurants and bars are right out the door so no need to have a DD-security walks around the plaza all night so I generally felt safe walking to the apartment at night-Apartments are what you would expect, they are cute and I would do it again, worth the experience! DON'T REGRET ANYTHING, moving out for a bigger space, but it was well worth the experience.
i lived in bridgeport apartments in kcmo for years and my girlfriend lived there longer then me. i heard of bad experiences with yarco properties but its another thing to survive them. they do not care about the residents. they are only nice when they try to get u to sign the lease and after that its a nightmare. the lease says they can have entry to your apt whenever they want during office hours which leaves your place insecure while u work. its no problem for them to have entry but they barely fill work requests and its no coincidence u get your place broke into like the person knows exactly how to get in. it takes weeks or months to get bridgeport maintenance to even come by. there is no security force like they said it is on the website when i moved in. if it was then so many ppl wouldnt say they got there place broke into. maintenance is one old lazy guy who can only do so much by himself. and one other guy who is either on his phone using google to ask how to fix stuff or he is on the walkie talkie asking for help from the old lazy guy on the easiest things. they dont want u to fix things or get others to do it but they never really fix anything and complain the whole time they are in your place about not wanting to work. they get mad about having to come back to fix things they broke or made worse trying to fix. since maintenance fixes nothing the office manager uses that as a excuse not to give u your deposit back when u want to move out. the office never gives ppl the 300.00 credit for referring ppl. they pocket this money and find every excuse not to pay it to u and yarco ignores every problem u bring to them. these ppl are slumlord hustlers and con artists and only care about money. yarco will not help u if u contact them. they will only tell u they heard nothing from the office and tell u the manager says she had no idea about whatever u complain about. the manager kathy lies to u then lies to yarco about the lies she told to u then she lies to herself about the lies she told to both sides. its just one big circle of lies and games and they do it like pros. they get away with running the property illegally the way they do by bullying ppl till u move out and they just keep doing it to new tenants. they mastered the art of manipulating the system to stay in business. they all work together like one big happy money grubbing family. they will do and say anything to get your money keep your money kick u out on the street and ruin your credit then sucker new ppl in to do the same thing to them. its not worth it to live there and watch those leeches suck u and your neighbors dry and never fix things so they can charge u for it if u want to leave. its bad business all the way around. do not report complaints to yarco bc they will do nothing but act like it is all new to them every time u tell them. report yarco and there properties to the city u live in or report them to hud if u want something done about it.
