I came to Irezumi Body Art to get a tattoo; I had the entire image I wanted on a memory card for the artist. The girl behind the counter decided she would rather find her own version of my tattoo online as a starting point instead of using the exact image I wanted. While doing her own research she was mocking my and belittling my choice of art. Upon forcing the exact image in front of her face for the second time she drafted the piece. After a back and forth the artist the outline was finished. While I was filling out my release forms a few other people came into the shop and she decided instead of assisting them with brainstorming their tattoo. She would simply direct them to her website. Her website would be referenced about 8 more times during my visit. It would seem instead of having actual customers she would rather have more hits on her page. After the lines where pulled from the piece we where setting up the tattoo and she would not let me place the piece how and where I wanted. Telling me that my choice was wrong and not what you should do. It is my choice, I am a customer. Helpful suggestion is one thing, being rude and telling me I am wrong is not the correct way to handle the situation. Trying to avoid further conflict we compromised on a middle ground of the angle and position. When I asked for specific details on the tattoo such as shadows, glow effects or a colored outline I was told once more that I was wrong and she would not do this. The area was cleaned in front of me and I laid down to start the process everything was moving forward fine until she stopped half way through the outline and removed the needle and said it was crappy. I was shocked that she could not have found this out sooner, like before she started the actual tattoo! I was getting a new tattoo, I was nervous; I tried to chat with the female artist during the process. Any attempts I made to have small talk were met with short and rude replies making it feel like speaking with me was a bother for her. As a tattoo artist I would expect some level of common courtesy and an ability to make me feel comfortable and enjoy the actual process, not like I was a bother. After the tattoo was finished I asked if she would like me to email her pictures of the healed work for her website, she said sure. However she would not post the pictures on the website as it was not her own piece of art. This was very rude and inconsiderate to take something that I see as art on my body and look me in the face and say it is not. While I was waiting for my ride to return to get my I mentioned they where getting pierced at another shop who they where friends with they decided to take that time to ridicule and mock the other studio. This is extremely childish and immature of a place that should be focused on professionalism at all times. I paid for my tattoo and left the shop. I will not return to her nor can I suggest anyone who is extremely trendy and fake to visit this location. I love my tattoo, but the experience was horrid.
I have had a few tattoos done (9) and I have had them done in other city's. This is the BEST tattoo place I have ever been to. Ben Alvarez is a TRUE artist, he is also VERY professional. He owns this shop, and it is very friendly. He does the most amazing work in ALL of Kansas City, in the whole Mid West. The art is perfect and I loved his attitude and his charm. I am wearing a Masterpiece!!! His buddy Mike who works there also is wicked cool. He made me a pin-up girl painting that hangs in my living room, and I love it. He is a Master as well. Call in advance to get in with Ben, he is booked 6 months in advance, that right there should tell you something!!! One happy customer Terri Shelton!
I'm 55 years old - got my first tattoo 2 1/2 years ago from Jessie Hopeless. She is NOT hopeless - she's awesome!! She is just a great human being. Intelligent, personable, witty and an incredible artist. The whole shop is great. Danny, Steve and Bob (the fine gentleman assistant!) are all exceptional. I loved every aspect of my first tattoo experience. So much so that I got my second one 6 months ago. I'm still working on ideas for my next one (my wife says after we get new carpet!). I highly recommend Exile Tattoo to anyone looking for an exceptionally clean shop and exceptional artists. (I'd rate it higher than 5 stars, but that's all there is)
I got a simple Hebrew script tattoo in color on my wrist. I LOVED LOVED LOVED my experience at Rose Tattoo. KATIE was SOOOO great to work with. She was super patient when I was still trying to figure out what I wanted it to look like; color or size or orientation, etc. And since I went on a Sunday, it was nice and quiet. We were the only ones in the shop. She was going to start a new $50 Sunday script discount and let me get in on it early. This is only my second tattoo, but I can't imagine going anywhere else, if I were to get more. Oh and Katie was really great about talking to me and washing her hands often.
I got my first tattoo there and honestly wish i had gone somewhere else. The people there are really nice and friendly but their ink SUCKS i mean my tattoo isnt much over a year old and its so faded that it looks 10 years old and my fiances tattoo isnt much better he went through a lot of pain and the guy just kept on trying and his tattoo is not at all what we wanted either of ours to be honestly im highly disappointed that my first tatttoo isnt something im extremely proud to show off. Now we both have to find somewhere else to fix our tats.
I am a collector of tattoos and the Mercy Seat Tattoo Studio and Gallery is the best shop in the Kansas City area! Kansas City hosts many great tattoo artists but when it comes to cleanliness, professionalism, integrity, innovation, and artistic ability, the Mercy Seat is superior in every way. Aside from the creativity of the artists, the interior of the shop itself is spectacular. I would strongly recommend to visit the shop's website where you can take a virtual tour of portfolios and the facilities. You will not be disappointed!!!
Chris has fixed 3 of our tattoos and did an amazing job. My husband had two tribals done on his arm by Body Art in Shawnee and were "fair" at best. His color was faded, lines were uneven and point were, well, not points at all. Chris has fixed and added on to them on his way of having both sleeves done. We have not gone out in public without someone commenting on his "bad a**" work. I definitely recommend Timeless to anyone who wants something original and not traced off the wall!!!!!
My whole family goes to timeless tattoo! literally, my cousins, my brother, my sister, my mom, and myself! i had my first tat done at irezumi, but i am much more impressed with timeless tattoo! Roman tattooed both of my feet for me, i wanted something very specific and he made it perfect. His personality is very laid back, social, very sweet and casual. it was an awesome experience all the way around! The facility is very down to earth and clean, i have no complaints at all!
I've not had the pleasure of a tattoo by Butch. My husband however has a great deal of his work all over his body & I admire it often. My turn is in aug & I cant wait! I gave inspiration & will get a unique design! He is especially good at skulls, gore & black n white. Don't expect to walk in and get a tat from him - always booked months in advance but its worth the wait! I know he has other good artists lined up and waiting to prick you!
By far the cleanest, most professional shop I have ever been in. Danny is an amazing artist and one of the most polite and intelligent people I have met in decades. He is knowledgable, professional and honest. Steve Campbell is a good artist and very friendly and approachable. I haven't gotten work from Jessie yet but I hope to in the future. Her portfolio online is amazing and she seems to be very nice and very competent, not to mention a very good artist.
