Although the food is good, I will probably never again go to Margarita's North. Twice, when I have gone there to have lunch by myself, I have been left to sit there in the dining room waiting for someone to come and wait on me. The first time, after about 15 minutes I flagged down a waitress and asked her to get someone to come wait on me. Today, after another 15 minute wait, when 4 waitresses (one of whom turned out to be the manager) walked by my table and ignored me, I left. I went up to the bar and asked to speak to the manager, who was sitting at the bar. She didn't even get up off her seat and when I told her what the problem was, she replied with a very weak, "I'm sorry". Since this has happened twice, it will be quite some time (if ever) before I go back there....too bad - the food is good, but the service really sucks.

will never eat here again!

This used to be one of my favorite places to visit I won't go back. Last night after an important event we stopped in we were seated at a table for four even though we had a baby in need of a high chair after being moved we were greeted or should I say not greeted by a very rude server. still dont know his name. The service was terrible. He mumbled wasn't interested in answering questions about service. the food was ok, but my stomach hurts today ugh. Then to add insult to injury I was charged 18% gratuity for someone who surely did not deserve a two dollar tip none the less 10 thanks Margaritas for being rude I will never visit again, especially since when I was not happy all I got was well it says on the menu you are charged the gratuity, not once sorry your server was sub par.

Today was Father's Day and we ...

Today was Father's Day and we took my husband to Margaritas on SW Blvd in Kansas City. They weren't very busy, and having visited there several times before, we thought "this is perfect"! However, this turned out to be a very unpleasant experience. There were 2 other large parties (5-6 persons) when we arrived and we were seated within 5 minutes. It took the waiter several minutes to take our drink order and bring out the chips and salsa. He forgot to bring out one of the drinks and it took almost 10 minutes before he came back to our table. Also, when we were given the chips, they were thrown down, spilling out of the basket onto the table. We waited for another 30 minutes for someone to take our food order (I had to ask when we would have our order taken). The other parties that were seated AFTER us received their drinks and food BEFORE us. After our order was taken, we then waited another 20-25 minutes to get our food. We didn't even get our drinks refilled. Remember, the restaurant wasn’t extremely busy so we were wondering what was going on. The waiters overall attitude was very poor. When we received our check, there was an 18% "service charge" added since we had 6 people at our table. Since we received such poor service, we asked to speak to the Manager about the "service charge" which is actually supposed to be the tip. We were met with a very rude Manager, who came to our table with an attitude about the service charge and the overall service. We advised that we had received poor service and her response was that this was the policy for over 20 years and she would take the service charge off "this time" but in the future we needed to know that when we came again we would be required to pay the fee. We couldn't believe the Manager's overall attitude. She came over to the table already upset that we had asked to speak with her about the service charge and the poor service. We felt that speaking to the Manager was an appropriate thing to do. I would also like to add that the only difference between our family, and the other 2 larger parties (5-6 people), was that we were minorities. So for our family, we won't be paying any additional service charges at Margarita's because this was our last time at this restaurant. We will take our money and spend it where it is appreciated. Thanks for allowing us to post our comments.

POOREST SEVICE EVEAR

I ordered take out today from Margaritas. I had to wait 10 minutes at the bar before anyone came to wait on me. Then I gave her the names for the orders, and she didn't have that right. Then I opened the bags and I asked where are the chips, she said we don't provide chips on to go orders unless you order $25.00 of food. Okay, why give me salsa, and I ordered guac and had no chips because she said it was only 1/2 order, what difference does that make ? What good is salsa with NO chips. Then the food was cold, and disgusting. I will never return to this place again. The Bar waitress was snotty and that is no way to treat a paying customer. This place has really gone to the dogs!!!!!

Fair At Best

The food is metiocre at best. Greasy, dripping tacos over $3.00 each. Don't buy tacos.

The rest of the menu is fair. Do not recommend to your friends. Very inconsistent service

and rudeness on a regular basis.

worst restaurant experience in a very long time

Have been here many times before and thought it was okay. But tonight was a disaster from beginning to end. The host was rude, and the waitress was inattentive. When our chips and drinks were refilled, it was on top of the empty, dirty plates already on the table. Food we oredered was forgotten, and one entree was served about 10 minutes before the rest of the table got there food. Had to ask for things 2-3 times and still didn't get them. After waiting quite some time, finally went to the bar to pay so we could leave as we couldn't find our waitress.

Not Bad, not the Best in KC

This place is probably just above average for Mexican restaurants in KC.

Favorite Mexican Restaurant in Kansas City!!!

Margarita's is the only Mexican restaurant I go to in Kansas City. The tacos are great, the chicken and spinach enchaladas are awesome!! And the margaritas are always great! The service is always fast!

Delicious food

Margarita's is definitely NOT authentic Mexican food. They are tex-mex food. However, they are the best tex-mex food I have eaten in KCMO or KCK. They have the best tacos I have ever tasted. If you want real Mexican food, you will have to venture down to 7th and Kansas Ave and eat at the Taconazo.
As far as service: I have to admit, slow and rudish...but it's still worth the food for me. The food comes quickly, but don't look for waiter staff after your food arrives - because they will nowhere in sight.
As far as smoking: I am an ex-smoker. There are two sections - which are separated by an entire wall - a smoking section (the bar side) and the non-smoking section. (I am talking about the SW BLVD location.) If you don't like smoke, don't sit on the bar side. On a different note - I think it's ridiculous that smoking is being banned in places where there is a bar. Bars are generally where people go to drink AND smoke. If you don't want to smell smoke - eat in johnson county...
Margarita's is awesome. Awesome food. Poor service.

The food was fair at best. Smoky, with no atomosphere. Service was poor and rude. Prices were low but not worth the money.

Margaritas West

I have been to all the Margarita's resturants and noticed the atmosphere, I must aknowledge that on your places to vote on....Margaritas West is no where to be seen and overall they have not just the best service but the best atmosphere (they serve with a smile and actually make you feel as if they are pleased to see you). Their food is amazing as Margaritas food seems to be, I just want people to go and at least TRY their food, I asure you that you will be comming back again.

Is What It Is

My family and I have loved Margarita's for years! Absolutely soul-satisfying comfort food. As to the usual reviews that knock Margarita's as not being authentic Mexican fare all I can say is ""thank goodness"". I have been to Mexico three times, have eaten the range from fine restaurants to small cocinas and I am still waiting to find a meal better than the worst meal of ANY cuisine you could eat in K.C.!!! Total dog food! Just so we unwashed masses could be illuminated, I would appreciate a Margarita-panner naming where one of these ""outstanding"" other Mexican restaurants are so I can go and share their epiphany. Meanwhile, I'll just keep munching at Marg's and blissfully gorge in ignorance!!

(Oh, one thing Margarita's needs to get straight is banning smoking; often pretty gross!)

I Love this place

My boyfriend and eat here a lot. We love the food, it is a great deal if you order the specials. Even if they are busy, you can still get in and out pretty quick. The servers are great and very friendly. The maragarita's are great too. I would highly recommend it.

Love It

I have yet to find a Mexican Restaurant that lives up to Margaritas. Thursday nights burrito specials are the greatest. The warm chips and fresh salsa is a great starter to a wonderful meal.

bad service

The food is ok, but you are treated like second class citizens if you don't smoke. The waitress and staff was very rude. We have not gone back. There are too many good Mexican restraurants on the blvd.

Always busy!

I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in KC. If you happen to go on Tuesday nights, get ready for their 2-for-1 special on beef tacos! The place is crazy. The service is not stand-out, but the servers work HARD and I have never had poor service. As for pricing, Margarita's is no more expensive than other Mexican restaurants in the area! Has been my favorite for years!
