I think if you are not already a part of the clientele here, it is very had to enjoy yourself. I went when they were crowed and felt absolutely invisible most of the time. I am sure the bad service and the way I felt in there affected my food rating. It might be better. I just couldn't enjoy it. If you are going to try it I suggest you go when it is unlikely they will be busy.
We started with a prime rib pizza which we never would have tried if the waitress didn't suggest it. Glad we did, it was yummy! Next came the Greek …
Front counter staff extremely rude, talked to us like we were children that weren't listening . Evidently, this is the norm at Gates. Has happened at other locations too. Will not be back.
good food great sausage , chicken is too die for fast service for an in an out bbq place. a must stop in Kansas City
Get the Jack Stack special - excellent! It has an assortment of beef ribs, a half rack of baby back ribs, and burnt ends - this is the best place for BBQ in KC.
The food is good, but the staff spends too much time playing and ignoring the customer. I would go here more often if the wait was not so long, even when there are no other customers
Great food. Clean location. One of the best restaurants. Let alone one of the best bbq spots in kansascity. Highly recommend
worst location out of all of them, food was not great and way too salty. everytime been here, others are better just found best to stay away from this one location
I enjoyed the variety of sauces and the ribs were good. The service could have been better though.
I am a former KC girl and when I fly home, I always stop here for the corn nuggets, super crispy sandwich and beans. Convenient when you are landing or leaving at KCI
Heard of this new BBQ place and thought we would try it. The meat and sauce was great and delicious, but that's where it ended for us. First of all it was busy and load which was understandable because it was a new place. My wife wasn't very hungry so she thought she would get the fondue appetizer plater. The waiter told us that the plater came with pretzels, apples, and cheese sauce. The then told us that they were out of pretzels but they could still do it. When they brought it out it looked like one Apple that was cut into slices and one bowl of cheese sauce. That plater cost us $9 which had $3 worth of food on it.My pulled pork sandwich was good but nothing special cost me $8 and my small side of fries costed an extra $4 making my meal $12.Without even blinking an eye we spent $40. This place is all about nickeling and diming you. They may have gotten us today but they won't in the future. In my opinion go to a more established BBQ place.
