On all of O'ahu there is no better Chinese food. And, being in a city with such a rich supply of Asian dining choices that's a pretty big huge statement.
Be forewarned... You do have to be prepared for slightly higher prices and much more subtle flavor than most Chinese restaurants. I've had the owner, who can be found trying his very hardest on even the most busy of nights to stop by each table to say "thank you" for coming in, say that they do not use cornstarch in making their sauces. This means a whole lot more creativity and care goes into the choosing of ingredients and preparation of the otherwise traditional Chinese dishes. The sauces are not heavy and the layers of flavor are amazing. The atmosphere like the wait service, is average at best, but if you have the owner stop by your table to say "hi" or his wife or sister in-law to flirt a bit with your two year old, well then, who really cares about the physical space. It's loud-- just go with it and invite a large group of friends along so you can add to the clinking and chattering that fills the banquet hall-esque space. You can bring in your own alcohol--really a little cooler full if you'd like, and for a $5 corking fee glasses and table side pouring will be provided for wine and such.
Our go to faves... The Peking Duck (pretty pricey but you can do a half order), Walnut Shrimp, (Oh my gosh I just die for this), The fresh spinach salad with Ka'u orange vinagrette, (seriously delish), The steamed flounder, (drizzle the extra sauce on your steamed rice-- yummo)... and the dessert. That amazingly kind owner just so happens is a former Halekulani pastry chef. Oh do save room for one of his creative desserts.

My friend tuned me into Pah Ke's when I visited him from LA couple of years ago. On another trip with the family, I went in to pick up couple of dishes and then Raymond (the owner) told me he could do gluten-free for my son. We had exceptional dinner, with my son (who is Celiac) being treated to a wonderful gluten-free fare. With few days left on the island, we came back with friends and again we were not disappointed. I am so impressed with Raymond who is not only a master chef in preparing innovative cuisine, but also in assuring that his cooking processes are tailored to persons with food allergies. A friend took me here and I've been back several times with other friends. Ingredients are of the highest quality, unlike most Chinese restaurants. The food comes rather quickly considering what you get; the portions are large and there is a huge selection. They have also seemed ok with ordering some things not on the menu, like general tso's chicken. Just be sure to tip nicely if you do and make sure it's not during a rush (as with any restaurant). Service can be a bit slow sometimes but it's no big deal unless you're in a big hurry. My wife, who doesn't usually like Chinese food, really likes this place too, but that's not to say the food is TOO Americanized.

Pah Kee's is always fast, good, and keiki friendly. I have had some of the most interesting dishes I have ever had (and I've lived the world over) here. Their food is fresh and well-prepared. Generous portions. Friendly staff that loves keiki - which is important when you have toddlers. Prices are reasonable (10-15/person) and you ger two meals out of each serving. Yum....

After reading the other reviews on this restaurant from other city search members I decided to try it for myself. Working in Downtown Chinatown for the past three years I had been quite spoiled with the wide selection of Chineese restaurants it had to offer. One of my favorites being Little Village. The atmosphere was rather typical, ornate, lots of good luck cat statues and twirly baby bamboo plants with tastles. But after being greeted with big smiles and a warm reception my thoughts shifted. We sat promtly without reservations and gawked at the huge selection of dishes. We opted for my standard favorites (although not traditional) walnut prawns, and orange and honey chicken. The friendly waitress was quick effecient yet unrushed (not glazed over, blunt or harsh at all). When the first dish came we were amazed by the huge size of the prawns. After the first bite I knew the fact that they didn't drown the prawns in the cream sauce would perfectly compliment the candied walnuts, and not over-power an already rich dish. The balance was perfect! Our second dish was reminicient of other orange chicken dishes, however the chicken medallion pieces were not soggy like so many times before. One simple yet enormous difference was that they topped off the dish with delicately supremed orange slices. The fresh fruit with the rich orange honey sauce and crisp chicken pieces lightened and brightened the dish delicate flavor. Normally after a Chineese dinner dessert is quite boring and is to be skipped. They had an impressive dessert selection and not just for a Chineese restaurant. I wanted to order the mochi ball in ginger soup however the waitress saddly informed me it would take 15 minutes. So i chose the tapioca in coconut milk instead. I was shocked to find it topped with a beautiful swirl of fruit glaze, fresh fruit slices and a ball of lychee sorbet! I had Little Village in mind when going in, but realized that this restaurant stands alone when we left!

DON'T MISS THIS GREAT PLACE. From the outside this looks like a thousand other Chinese restaurants. Inside, if you check the menu you will see an excellent but somewhat typical Chinese menu. BUT if you make arrangments in advance, the owner, Raymond Siu, will prepare a special feast that is out of this world. We ate at Pah Ke one night and then Alan Wong's the next and they were of equal calibre. Mr Siu used to work at many of the big name Honolulu places and now has his own restaurant. On the special meals he tries to use as much local produce and seafood as is possible. When we go to the windward side for a week or two week vacation, we often eat 3 or 4 times at Pah Ke. It is a hidden gem. Be sure to ask him to prepare his chocolate sampler for dessert! (I have no $$ interest at all in this place-I wish I did. I'm just a loyal fan.)

This is very tasty Chinese with a flare. The Owner/Chef is Raymond, a genuinely nice guy who loves his work and takes pride in his restaurant. The Hot & Sour soup is killer, try it with a healthy dash of Glenlivet stirred in. If you bring a bottle of wine the waitress will be happy to open it for you and provide a wine glass. Can't go wrong @Pah Ke's.

The food here is so good! The spinach and orange salad is so killer. So far every entre we've tried has not disappointed at all. Save room for dessert because the owner is a fantastic pastry and dessert chef.....ask if he has the chocolate cake (not listed on the menu).
