Heritage Community Of Kalamazoo

This is the hidden jewel of the retirement communities in Kalamazoo. A gerontologist told us about it--we'd never heard of it--and we took her advice and visited. We have been VERY happy with the place.



My father wanted to stay in Kalamazoo even though none of us children are nearby, and we had reservations about that plan, but Wyndham/Heritage community is great because the staff really keep track of the residents--and actually care about them. When we call to ask about him, they always know what and how he's doing. They make sure he's not only safe but also happy. There are lots of cultural offerings there at Wyndham, bus trips to other places, and social activities within the facility. He loves the company of other sharp older adults. At one point my dad mentioned to the staff that they should have a choir and they actually hired a director and started a choir.



My father fell a few months ago and had to have knee surgery. It was very convenient to be able to have him in the Upjohn skilled nursing facility that is part of the Heritage Community and made the transition easier back into his own Wyndham apartment. They also have great in-house care--which we've hired since my dad moved back into his own apartment--and a nursing service to administer medicine.



I have friends with parents in some of the other retirement communities in Kalamazoo (including some with higher profiles) and none of them receive the kind of individual care and attention that my dad gets at Wyndham.

Fantastic! We moved my mother into Wyndham two weeks ago. She was initially a little reluctant to leave her home where she lived alone with her small dog. We knew she could live in the independent living area, but the added benefit of someone always being around, the social aspect, and sense of security that is offerd here is phenomenal! Every single employee has been extremely friendly and helpful from the sales staff, front desk personell, to the wait staff, mainentance, dining room staff including the chef. Food is incredible too. My mother said after her first day that she could not think of one thing that she didn't like. She is so glad she made the move. And we as family could not be more relieved to know she's in such an incredible environment.
