My wife and I both had work done while on vacation. GREAT line work and free hand. It's nice to have an artist that listens to his client and gives them what they want. Can't wait to return and get more done
My husband and I each had a tattoo done on February 29th, 2014. We could not have been more pleased. Both of our tattoos had intricate work done and we were in and out in about 3 1/2 hours. The colors of my flowers and shading were sooo perfect and just as I had envisioned. We cannot wait to go back to have Dave do some more work. Very funny guy! Likes to get in and get done. Thanks for being patient with me!!
I wanted to get a tattoo to commemorate a memorable and transformative experience I had last year. I found myself in Kona and decided I wanted to get it done there. After reading numerous reviews I decided to visit Voodoo Tattoo. This would be my first tattoo and I was extremely nervous. I found the shop warm and inviting and Debbie really put me at ease right from our first conversation. I love my tattoo - it is exactly what I wanted - and Debbie really made this a positive experience for me. I would highly recommend Voodoo Tattoo especially if you are a first timer like me.
My husband and I went in April, and our last day there we went in for our first tattoos. Dave is funny and puts you at ease. I had never been tattooed before so I can't compare the pain to another, but it wasn't bad at all. He was very quick and precise. We love our tattoos, and all of our friends who have tattooed are very impressed with Dave's extremely precise work and excellent shading. I'd fly all the way back to Kona just so I could have Dave tattoo me again. Love his work.
First think I noticed when I walked in to k-yown tattoo was how CLEAN it was by far the cleanest tattoo shop I walked into! It was my first time going there and I went because I wanted to get my lip pierced I was super nervous about it because I hate needles but I really wanted my lip pierced. The staff there are super sweet wich calmed my nervous a little being in such a positive athmospher ...Presley the piercer was great I didn't even feel when she put the needle thru It was a great expierence for it being my first time if I ever put on another piercing k-town is where I'm going !! And for being such a good girl I even got a lollipop :)) K-TOWN IS THE BEST!
Was just in Kailua Kona and went to K Town Tattoo. Erika did a great job designing the tattoo and doing the tattoo. She made me feel comfortable, she explained the process and the price was reasonable. Thanks Erika!
The only reason for one star is because I couldn't leave it blank. Where to start... Dave's name was given to us by some friends who had been on the island, not because they had had any art done by dave, but someone they knew had. I wish we would have known that then. We showed up early for our appointment (the last one of the day, don't ever do that!) Dave said he was running late and asked us to come back in a couple hours. When we returned he was still running late. We should have turned and left. The shop was filthy, dirty dishes in the one and only sinke, and if you needed to use the bathroom you had to go down to the corner coffee shop and walk through their kitchen to get to the bathroom. Not sanitary at all! I was scheduled to get some Color work done the next day, to add to an underwater piece I already have. My friend has tat's from neck to toe, literally, and said that Dave's hand was the heaviest he's ever encountered. My friend was getting a black and white done on his chest, a piece that should have only take about 90 minutes by any artist back home. Dave had the gun in his hand for a total of about 2.5 hours, but my friend was in the chair for almost 4.5 hours. Every 20 minutes or so Dave would take a break. He'd smoke and chat on the phone with what I imagine was his girlfriend. He would stop to talk to walk-ins, even thou it was after hours and he had a client in the chair! Anyone who's ever had work done knows that every time an artist stops and comes back it's twice as painful. My friend is a tough guy, and like I said, has art on his neck, arms, fingers, hands, legs, back, you name it it's inked. The whole time he was working on my friend he said how he loved to do black and white and that he HATED COLOR. He said, "If one more person comes in here wanting an underwater scene I'm going to puke." HELLO, I was supposed to be geting underwater and color the next day! After Dave was finally finished, without adding any white to the piece I might add, he charged my friend $600 and on top of that added his own 10% tip when he ran the card! We walked out the door and my friend said, "You are NOT getting ink tomorrow!" NEVER go to Dave for any serious work! He has outlived his days of being an artist. Now he's a washed up angry old man who bitches the entire time you're in his chiar.
This is the cleanest and friendliest shop in the Kona area, I should know, I've visited them all. This dynamic duo can handle whatever you throw at them, they are professional and very customer service oriented.
