We were there February 2017. Family of three. Loved it. Kid loved the pool. Liked the beach. Liked the Filipino restaurant Tante's next to it (tantesislandcuisine.com/…) and found it affordable, especially by Maui standards. I liked the location just minutes from the airport. Everywhere we wanted to go was drivable. There is a mall type location within walking distance with a large movie theater. You need that because it can rain a lot in Maui. The people running the hotel are very knowledgable locals. I loved the gas station right across the street. Got beer. Got some food. Don't forget your wine/beer opener and don't forget to put it in your checked luggage. Loved the views of the water and canoe races and the mountain to the left. The day we left they let us keep our luggage in a courtesy room all day and come back for it and they offered us a place to shower and whatnot. A spacious room for 3 people with a small fridge. Good TV and wifi situation. Parking can get tight but I was able to park there every time. The only frustration/confusion is that I asked specifically if we could check in early because of our flight. They said yes. Well you can "check in" early, but your room may not be ready till 4pm. I want to address two things. One is that in a travel book I read the rooms are small. Maybe for couples they have small rooms, but I think the pay off is they get a little balcony/patio thing. I also read some complaints that it's in an industrial place or something. I didn't feel that way. I think they are referring to the harbor being a working harbor. It's true that the harbor does have some sort of industrial aspect but Maui has to get fuel and stuff somehow. It didn't bother us. I do think they should send someone down to clean up the beach a little. The rooms also have tons of plugs for your devices. Close to the airport, which I think had way more pros than cons. Otherwise I'd have been driving around with huge bags all day instead of leaving them there, right?
