I had been taking my two dogs there for years. My dog developed an abscess a few months ago on her neck and I was terrified. I scheduled her for a visit and had to fly to Juneau from Gustavus. Due to bad weather, I ended up taking an earlier flight and decided to just go over there and wait for our appointment. When we got there, the nurse was completely flustered that I was early and said she could get me in earlier. I said it was no problem and that I could wait. The doctor hurried us into the examination room and repeatedly told me that they didn't like to take dogs in during emergency hours. I tried to explain that we didn't have an emergency but she wouldn't listen. However, she did tell me we would need to remove it with surgery for $800. I said fine, at which time she told me we owed $400 more than we had been quoted for that visit..$200 of which was for being seen during emergency hours. When I went to the front to pay, I tried to tell the Male nurse that I had not requested an emergency visit and that we had planned to pay much less than they were charging me but he actually yelled at me in front of all of the other patients and then shamed me for not having the money to pay. He proceeded to drain my checking and savings account, after which I was still short by $30. He verbally abused me for another 25 minutes trying to demand the extra money. At this point, I was actually crying. When I said I simply didn't have any money left he finally said I could just pay the rest when we came back for the (unnecessary) surgery. After all of this, the other nurse had the audacity to ask if I wanted to call a cab to get back to the airport after they had literally taken all of my money and degraded me for over an hour. I have never in my life had a worse experience with any business, much less one that I expect to save my pet. This is absolutely the worst vet I could possibly imagine and the Male nurse should never be allowed to work with people or animals ever again.

I have been going here for abo...

I have been going here for about 25 years. I have never had a complaint. They have always treated my pets with special care. They came to my home when I had to have one put down. That way, it was not traumatic for my baby. Dr. Lisa Kramer has been my favorite vet for years, but when she's not there I have had excellent care from the other vets. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else.
