my copper river salmon total 72 pounds was processed at Horst Sea foods, it was very professionally done. taste and packaging are excellent for gifts to your love one all over the world. It represents my Alaska's taste of fresh sea foods. it's the only place I would trust. at very short notice they completed my turn in, and it was done before flying back to Anchorage. speed and quality all in it's best.

Thank you very much Horst and your family.

God Bless.

I processed 1,400 pounds of pressure bled Sockeye, Coho, and Keta into Fillet, Smoked, and (Sockeye) lox at Horst's in 2014. It was very well received across the country. I will be doing 2.800 or more fish this year.

I have sold my fish and crab (F/V Americanus) to Horst for over 15 years, along with a host of other commercial fishemen who trust their personal (retained) fish fro consumption to him. That should say enough about his incredible quality.

He can be temperamental, running the place alone, save for the help of his employed wife and student son - your patience with him will be worth your time.

Tell him Zane sent you. I may be even there. I work with him a lot, as he is getting on in years.

Try his smoked salmon or lox -especially if he got the fish from Zane- you will not be disappointed.

I gave 4 stars because of his temper and difficulty in working with his system - that is evolving too!

Be warned

I had $800 worth of fish processed at Horst in Juneau. That was a big mistake. The woman who worked with me was rude, unfriendly, and upon picking up my fish accused me of stealing a cooler from her property. I was more than a little taken aback by her insistence that I was, apparently, a thief. I regret bringing my business to this place and surely won't in the future. It is much easier and less expensive to deal with the other processors in town. If you find yourself in the position I was needing salmon lox, I would suggest saving yourself the aggravation of having to work with this woman, and have your product processed anywhere but here. You've been warned.
