General Info
Best Rates in Town Rooms Starting @ $60.00 per night plus Tax Extended Stays with Kitchenettes Newly Renovated to its original Victorian style. Established in 1913 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the Alaskan Hotel of Juneau, Alaska offers a unique lodging experience unlike any other. The Alaskan Hotel was built at the beginning of the 20th Century as a result of Alaska becoming a territory the year before. Four hotels were built that same year to accommodate for the expected influx of travelers, the Cain the Gastineau, the Alaskan, and the Bergmann, which was an earlier building made into a hotel in October of that same year(1913). Out of all of the hotels operating in Juneau at that time, only the last two remain, making the Alaskan Hotel the oldest operating hotel in Southeast Alaska. The Alaskan was built at a turning point in Juneau history, which accounts for a great deal of the hotel's architectural diversity. The style, as noted by its ornate stringcourse, Victorian bay windows, and plush interior, is decidedly done in the late Victorian "Queen Anne" style. This experience was pure awful. The room was dirty. The cabinet, dresser and floor had mouse droppings. The furniture was on the brink of falling apart. There was no air conditioning. The windows are all open to a nasty unused square in the middle of the building, letting all of the bugs in. The owner, Betty was pure awful. She was rude and unaccommodating. The staff lives in the rooms and smokes cigarettes and weed. This is a non smoking hotel. The bathrooms are shared and dirty. The noise is loud late into the middle of the night. Don't do it. You get what you pay for.

Alaska atmosphere

Alaska's oldest continuously operating bar, dating back to the early 1900s...historic artifacts, stained glass, lots of dark wood. More locals than tourists, pub food. Open mike night brings out the local color.
