Had our first and last experience at the Jerome County Fair this past weekend. I bought ADVANCED tickets online to attend the Monster Trucks event. Online, the website stated the show started at 7:30. We arrived at 7:00 to the fairground and walked up to the gate. I exchanged my online tickets for the actual tickets and was told to walk around to the side of the arena to enter. There was no way to enter the arena and I was confused on where to go. I asked the lady again where to go. All she said was "Is the gate closed? If it's closed, it's full." I looked at her confused and asked why I purchased an advanced ticket if I couldn't get it. She told me I would have to take it up with the fair office. I spoke with a lady at the fair office, wearing a Cooper Norman shirt, who told me when I asked why I couldn't get it that the show started at 7:00 while pointing at her phone which displayed 7:10. I told her the website said it started at 7:30. I also asked her what the purpose of buying an advanced ticket is if they do not take that into account when selling at-the-gate tickets. She said they have no idea who purchases tickets online and who shows up. She basically dismissed me and said she would be back in 30 minutes to give me a refund for my online tickets after she had them close down the gate. I arrived back at the Fair Office after 30 minutes to get my refund. She asked me how many tickets I had purchased and I told her two. She handed me $30. I explained to her that I actually paid $33.80 with the "processing fee" and "convenience fee" online. She said she couldn't do anything about it, all she could give me was $30. I showed her the printout of my purchase online which showed the event starting at 7:30. She showed no concern with the lack of organization or miscommunication online and walked away after looking at it. Did not apologize or seem sincere in the disappointment. I told her there would probably be some honest reviews that explained the poor organization online and she ignored me, just hiding in the back. I basically didn't exist after she handed the money to me. I was not looking for an argument, just for some understanding of how disappointed we were. We drove from Twin Falls with a 3 year old who was ecstatic to watch the Monster Trucks. We were very disappointed and will not waste our time or money at the Jerome Fair again. We will stick with Twin Falls and pay the admission fee - It's worth the price.
