Founded in 1878, Dunn Construction is one of the oldest contracting businesses in the United States. The company bids and performs general contracts for the construction of industrial roads, storage yards, parking lots, subdivisions, municipal streets and airport taxiways. It also provides resurfacing and interstate and highway construction services. The company's subsidiary, Dunn Buildings, specializes in commercial, industrial and institutional construction projects. Dunn Construction's project portfolio includes Patton Creek Silt Removal, Corridor X Project Graysville, I-20 and Corridor X Highway 78. The company also provides trucking, construction material sales, portable crushing, asphalt paving, milling and site work services. Dunn Construction maintains a fleet of more than 35 dump trucks.
In 1940 Dunn entered the general construction business – focusing most of its early projects for the military. Gradually our construction business expanded in commercial, institutional and industrial building projects across the Southeast.
Green alternative to traditional aggregates. Created by crushing up the asphalt pulled from old roads, RAP can be used in a variety of applications. Over time, RAP will harden and compact, making it ideal for driveways and parking lots where asphalt is not desired. When used instead of fill dirt, RAP resists erosion, providing longer life and saving the consumer money.
Asphalt Paving
Dunn also maintains three dedicated base crews for use in conjunction with asphalt pavements. Often used in large parking lots and creating new roads, base is graded and compacted before the asphalt is placed, creating a uniform and stable surface for asphalt pavement. Dunn is available to perform base work as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with asphalt paving.
Dunn has long maintained a proactive “green strategy”; particularly in our broad use of recycled products (ranging from reclaimed asphalt and roofing to steel foundry sand and slag) in the production of new asphalt.
