        Customer Service Skills Needed

        It is quite apparent that the staff in this office has not received training in cultural diversity neither do they possess the basic customer service etiquette or skills. The first time we visited the office I was appalled at the rudeness and arrogance of the front office personnel. Although we arrived prior to our appointment time, we were overlooked while waiting in the proper place to been called. No apology was given when I asked was there a misunderstanding in my appointment time. Well, it didn't stop there! I gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned in 6 months for another visit. My family and I received the same, if not worst, treatment. It was well past the posted business hours and it appeared as if the entire office was still on their lunch break. Not only could I see them in the break area but they could be heard laughing and talking also. I politely called out for assistance and when a staff person finally arrived at the front desk, she was very rude. I asked to speak with the office manager and unfortunately, she lacked customer service skills also.

        I would suggest that the entire staff be required to take a workshop in customer service and cultural diversity. I'm not sure if the issue in this office stems from management but if it does, perhaps new management and staff would improve the service at this location. A dentist office is a people-oriented business and the staff's attitude and dispostion should reflect the acknowledment of that fact.
