I just spent 5 hours at the Paul Mitchell School in Jacksonville. My student artist Jallena was amazing. I naturally have very dark hair, but for the New Year I wanted to go blonde. All over blonde. I brought in pictures of what I wanted. All pictures of very light very blonde hair. During my consultation, the Learning Leader Diana came over to assist. When we explained what I wanted, Diana turned her nose up at my pictures and told me what I wanted wouldn't look good and would "look really flat" on me. Diana convinced my student and I that doing Full Head foils to lighten my hair would "look better and give me dimension". I told her that I wanted to be a blonde, and not let my dark hair stick out. Diana assured me that doing foils would give me the all over blonde look I want. 4 hours later when my hair was washed out, Diana gave me my "hair cut". It took 2 minutes(literally 2 minutes) for her to separate my hair into 3 sections and "trim" the bottom. She didn't touch the hair around my face. I wanted about 1 inch off all over to reshape my hair. She didn't do any of that. Once my hair was dry, it looked exactly the way I didn't want it. It looked like I still had dark brown hair, with blonde highlights. It does not look good. At all. Its not what I wanted, and its the exact opposite of what I asked for. All because the Learning Leader Diana insisted we do what she wanted. And not what I wanted. I explained to Diana that the color service I got was not what I wanted at all. I explained how I felt about my color. She told me "Well next time you come, make sure to come at 9am in the morning so we can actually foil the underside of your hair too".. So it took 5 hours to "Full head foil" my hair, and they didn't even color the bottom half of my head!! And in the end, when I expressed my dissatisfaction, all the Learning Leader Diana had to say was to come back and spend more money to get what I originally asked for.

I wanted something done to my hair so i found this number and decided to give them a call..the woman that answered the phone was EXTREMELY rude and loud and ghetto..so i decided i would try back a little later and maybe someone else would answer. So i started to look at the pics abd realized none of the hairstyles are even cute, they mostly look the same and that alot of those women look like crackheads. So im glad they were rude bc i would NEVER give them a dime for those project apt kitchen table hairdos.
Took them over 3 hours to cut my hair.. But that's what you get from a student.
I discovered Paul Mitchell School about a year ago. I have been going every 4-6 weeks ever since. I have naturally curly hair and the fact that I can get it washed, cut and blown straight for $15 is a steal. I’m not real adventurous, I usually just get a trim with my square long layers, since my hair curls it’s difficult to mess that up, not sure I would trust a student if I wanted a drastic change but I feel like my trim is good practice for them and a deal for me, the major bonus for me is getting my hair blown straight! They are always super friendly. I warn you to prepare for a long day, especially of you are getting color! I don't mind this at all. However, if you are in a hurry and looking for a 15 minute cut or have a high strung personality you should go elsewhere, these are students. Realistically expect 2.5 hours for cut/style and 5 hours for cut/color/style. I feel the experience is pampering, I look at it as me time. The students are brimming with knowledge so they always talk about your hair/products/habits extensively before proceeding. Then they discuss with the learning leader (Cameron is amazing). Throughout the haircut and dry the teacher will stop by to check and often help. Many times I have had two people working on me at the same time and it just makes me feel even more pampered. I feel like it is a great value for the money and it is a great experience. NOT recommended for impatient or type “A ”personality people but if you have a few hours to kill and have patience I definitely recommend Paul Mitchell School.
