I would give this place 0 stars if that was an option. At first, you'll think this is the best place you could choose to put your loved one. As time goes on though, you'll come to find out, it will be one of the worst choices you've ever made. Once the welcoming party wears off, things will begin to change. They'll stop taking such good care of your family member/s. Your mothers and fathers will fall through the cracks. They'll be forced to sit in their own urine and feces for hours. There have been constant rodent/insect problems. Not only rats and roaches in the kitchen but in the rooms too. I know another family member who's father had rats in his room and management knew all about it, and nothing was done. The family isn't able to move their father out but wishes they could. The activities may be a plus but don't let them fool you. They don't make up for the horrific problems everywhere else. They have been through more management in my time dealing with them, than most businesses do in a lifetime. Also, the management is awful. All of the nurses have been subpar. None of them actually knowing what they're doing, or doing anything at all really. The Executive Directors placate you. They want you to believe they are taking your concerns into consideration and then never following through. The past two EDs have by far been the worst. One ED only lasted for a few months and I don't see the new one lasting any longer. They treat the staff terribly and cause the good ones to leave. The management spends more time gossiping about the staff than they do actually working. The residents that live here are the only redeemable quality this place has. Unfortunately, with the way things have been going, I'm not sure that is a sufficient enough reason to keep her here. Do yourself and your family member a favor and don't move them here. You'll regret it.
A beautiful facility located just off Butler in one of the most exclusive communities in Jacksonville. We toured the facility and found the staff to be genuinely caring. Mom met a few nice ladies and they invited her to join them for lunch. We were treated to exceptional service by a smiling and attentive waiter. The food was very good. We met the recreation director and she was a hoot. They have plenty of offsite activities and only a short trip over the bridge to Mayo. We met the nurses and feel comfortable they will take good care of Mom. Ashford Court is Mom's choice.

Awful, awful, awful! Yes, the public areas are nicely furnished and maintained, the food is decent, the activities are alright, and some of the staff (bus driver) are pleasant and friendly. HOWEVER...the positives end there. I agree with the previous reviewer regarding the staff's inability to deal with patients with dementia. This is an assisted living facility; you're going to be working with elderly and should therefore be well-informed as to how to handle certain situations as a result. Rooms are always filthy despite housekeeping being included in the rate...dust on everything, roaches everywhere, smelly soiled clothes left unwashed. Call with a question or complaint for the executive director and be prepared to be treated like garbage. I've never been so insulted or disrespected in my life! I also couldn't tell you how many times I've stood at the front desk when a call has come in and the receptionist will ask the staff member if they want to talk to a specific person, then hear them pop back on the line and say they're unavailable and can only leave a voicemail (which takes WEEKS for a return phone call!). If you're looking for a place to throw away $4000/mo for filthy rooms and disrespectful management who will milk you for every additional penny, this place is a winner. If you're looking for a place to take care of your loved one in a clean and friendly environment, and treat you with dignity please look elsewhere.

I have been working in Senior Living for over a decade and Ashford Court has impressed me far above other senior communities I have been affiliated with. The staff works tirelessly with the residents and families to ensure the best care. Most of the new people coming to take residency do so because they received the referral of a current resident and their family! Word of mouth advertising speaks for itself. I have seen first hand the way the managers professionally handle difficult situations for quick resolve. The smiling faces of the resident's tell the complete story! I am proud of this amazing community and it's endeavour to be the best!

My mother has lived at this facility for a couple of years now. The facility is in a nice area and the furnishings are beautiful. The full time nursing care is non-existent. There is a nurse who works during the week, otherwise there are CNA's some of whom are helpful others who are not.
My mom can be (well is) difficult but you expect some older people to be that way especially those with dementia. The staff should be well equipped to deal with ""difficult people"". They are not. The director is a joke.
Her room was always filthy when I went there. She has incontinence problems but was paying an additional amount for that service. The staff informed me that she would not let them clean. Again, they should be able to find ways around this especially when someone is paying almost $4000.00 per month. Her bed was rarely made. No sheets on bed most of the time. They had to move her from room with carpet to another room with laminate flooring. They charged 2300 for this move next door. Our family did most of the moving. There were cockroaches everywhere. We had to wash all her clothing, buy a new mattress, throw out her furniture etc......
I do not want her to live with me because she is so difficult but they are suppose to be the ""experts"" in dealing with residents who are elderly etc.....
For the money you could rent an apartment and a live in home companion and probably do a lot better.
