Clean facility, great staff

We recently went in to find a kitten for our daughters. The staff knew each cat well and was able to match us with a cat that met the needs of our family. The shelter is new and clean and has unique areas that allow the animals to be outside of their cage from time to time. Lots of selection, too.

DFW Humane Society

This is one of the best animal shelters. Several years ago our beloved "Lady girl" had cancer and passed away. We were heart broken and my husband demanded that I get him another dog. My one requirement was that we wanted was a Pit-Shepherd mix since Lady girl was of that breed. I checked several shelters but was unable to find what we wanted. The DFW Humane Society said that they didn't have a pit-shepherd mix but they did however have a pit-chow mix. I went by on my lunch hour and visited with the most beautiful lady you have ever seen. She was honey colored with a pink nose and freckles, four white feet, a white chest and the tip of her tail looked as if it had been dipped in a bucket of white paint. Needless to say "SHE WENT HOME WITH ME THAT VERY AFTERNOON". Considering the fact that everyone else had walked away from her because of her lineage (They were afraid of the mix) I was very lucky to have found her. Unfortunately she is no longer with us but we loved her and she had a wonderful life in the country.

Good first step

My mom was ready for a new dog. She likes Welsh Corgis and I convinced her to see if there were any mixes or other small dogs at the Humane Society that she might like. When we got there, we found a scrappy, undernourished corgi and my mom was signing the papers in about 5 minutes. Pixie is very happy to find a home and my mom is very happy with the new addition. Bottom line: if you want a pet, come here first because these pets need homes and are very cute and lovable.
