The price for electricity is difficult to estimate when comparing one company to another. Often, only one rate is shown in advertising but there are actually three rates; one for 500 kWh, one for 1000 kWh and another for 2000 kWh. The number of kWh each home uses varies from month to month. The method I used for deciding which energy company was best for me was by computing my monthly average kWh for each month over the past two years. I made a spread sheet into which I could enter the three price rates for each company (500, 1000 and 2000). For LOTS of different plans for LOTS of energy companies, I computed my cost for energy for one year based on my historical average kWh per each month of the year. 4Change Energy offered the lowest rates for my usage. When comparing companies, be aware that some companies use step changes in price between 500, 1000 and 2000 kWh while other companies use interpolated changes in price between 500, 1000 and 2000 kWh - it's really time-consuming to compare prices between energy companies!
They lied to me about the rate when I signed up, I ask them to send me the terms and condition, confirming the rate that we agreed to three times before it switched over, they never did, I had to call them after I was switched over to find out the flat out lied to me, I ask them to check the recording of the conversation of the call when I signed up, they just laughed at me, of course I asked to switched back as soon as possible. These people are out and out liars, if they tell you it is raining outside, you might want to confirm that.
It’s hard to distinguish one company from another in the very competitive Greater Dallas area utility (electricity) billing companies. Over the long term, they all even-out with not a nickel’s worth of difference among them. So, how do you choose? You choose the company that makes life easy for you – a community based company that makes charitable contributions in your behalf, makes it easy to do business with, talks in plain English to simplify things, and even makes it fun to do business with them. A company that has really good people and great customer service. That company is 4Change energy. I’m a very happy customer of theirs, who had an issue with an expired credit card on file with them. I dealt with Tina Collins in their customer service department. Tina Collins was very good – very professional, excellent word choices, never got flustered, and really kept her composure. That was impressive as I’m sure I gave her a pretty hard time!
We moved here from California 10 years ago, and after getting ripped off from the other well known electric companies (3 in total), I am pleased to see a bill from 4Change Energy that reflects a reasonable amount. I recommended them to my tenants but no coverage area in that area code, please check them out they are by far the most reasonably price service ever!!!
I have had 4Change Energy going on 2 years now, and i have never experienced any issues with their service, rates and customer care team. I pay month to month, auto bill pay. My highest bill to date was this past January and it was only $115. I stay in a 1000 sqft town home that is two stories. I recommend this company to my friends and give them a great review.
I could almost copy and paste the first review.. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO US! I have not received a bill since October, no one answers any kind of phone call, and woke up to no power.. We signed up for online automatic billing, we should NOT be having this issue. We have called every single number on their website. We got connected to a person once and they asked us to hold and hung up on us. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE!
Worst company I have EVER dealt with. I signed up for a 6 month contract at 8 cents per KWH and ended up paying 14 cents per KWH. Company was a complete scam. Every time I'd call and dispute the bill they'd blame Centerpoint for the TDU delivery charges being so high. No one could give me a direct answer as to why my bill was over $100 more than it should be each month. Most aggrivating company I have ever dealt with and dispite having to pay termination fees I have finally gotten away from this company and will never use them or recommend them again. They also have ZERO customer service center, so in order to get someone on the phone you pretty much have to tell them you're signing up for a new account. Also the $100's they overcharged me more, never did they refund me or offer to waive my termination fees. Biggest joke of a company.
I just wanted to say that I just got my first bill from 4Change and I saved over $130 from my previous provider! I usually sign up on 12 month plans and had just kept renewing with my old company because I didn't want to take the time to make the switch. So glad I did because it took me no more than 5 minutes, the switch happened the same day and the savings has been worth it.
The only reason I gave them 4 stars w... view moreas because they do require that you be on auto draft and I prefer not to do that. However, I received my first bill today and the bill was correct, as was the amount they debited my account, and it was on the day they said they would. I guess it was nice not having to worry about writing a check or logging into my online account to manually pay.
I'll keep my eyes open and let everyone know if I have any issues, but so far, so good.
I agree with all of the reviews so far. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! What happened to the customer is always right. In May, I was moving, but my contract was not up until August. I went online to "transfer service address" through my account online and then was directed to call customer service. When I spoke with customer service I was told that I needed to close my old account, incur the cancellation charges, open a new account, then call with my new account number to get the credit for the cancellation charges. What a hassle! What century are we in??? People move all the time and should be able to transfer addresses without incurring fees and then chasing down the refunds. But it does not stop there. Because I had to open a new account with the same email address, I did not receive the email notification or bill of how much and when my bill would be automatically drafted from my account. Nor did I have access to my old account online to see when it would be drafted and how much. So of course it was drafted early and without me knowing, I did not have adequate funds in my account to cover, if I was aware, I would have put the adequate funds in my account. Therefore I was charge outrageous NSF fees from my bank and was told to take it up with my energy company, who did the unauthorized transaction. I tried getting in contact with the supervisor "Chris" for 2 months. I received one call back at work on my work phone. I returned his call right after work and of course left another message and never heard back. They mailed my refund to my old address, how does that make sense. Never received the check as I thought it would be applied to my new bill because that is what I was told. IT GETS BETTER. I called customer service and spoke with an extremely rude person who refused to let me talk to the supervisor, Chris, until I demanded so. I spoke with Chris and went on to accuse me of "lying" or in his words to be the exception to other customers of not receiving my last bill, not receiving the check for the refund, not being able to transfer services online, and that he called me back 3 times... ALL LIES. I can deal with inconveniences as long as I get the proper treatment and resolution from customer service. I am not renewing my contract nor am paying my last bills. They can hit my credit, it is great and this will not do enough damage to it. It is the principle and I am completely disgusted with this company and am glad to hear that I am not the only one.
Horrible customer service. I don't want 4change to call me back at an undefined time. I have time to talk when I call - that's why I called!
The phone menu is a maze and doesn't ever give the option to talk to a customer service rep if you're an existing customer.
Lastly, if a company can't handle the call volume of people stopping their service or having issues with service, make service more automated. I would have been super pleased if I could have stopped my service online instead of calling you jokers.
Do not choose them as your provider. I am regretting signing up for a 1 year fixed contract. I would not recommend this provider. I am even tempted to report them to the BBB. There is no way to contact them if you need to stop service. I have a rental property I signed up with them with a month to month plan. I finally got a renter and I tried to stop my service. You cannot do this online and it will tell you to call their number. When you call their number, you will never get hold of a real person. You can leave a message but noone will ever call you back. Their service is one of the worst.
We just switched to 4Change Energy from TXU and so far do not have a good first impression. 4Change Energy did not send us the initial bill so after about 20 days of sign up we went online to pay. Then a week later they send a disconnect notice. Of course it was already out of date since we did pay on time, but it just was very annoying and unprofessional. So I contacted the service department about this issue and wanted to make sure it did not happen again. Well right away I can tell that this is a, its never our fault - the customer must have done something wrong, company. Their responses were not directly rude but they definitely were not nice. So they need to work on billing and service professionalism.

Most of our customers love that our billing is simple and accurate and our service is quick and friendly. But when there are exceptions we love to hear about it, because that’s how we improve. We’re not satisfied with MOST of our customers having a good experience; we want ALL of our customers to love 4Change Energy as much as we do.
