What type of material is used for constructing closet systems?
Most closet systems are made out of materials like particleboard, plywood, medium-density fibreboard (MDF), and, on the expensive end, real woods. Less expensive materials like plywood, are covered with laminate or melamine to create the shiny finished veneer. If parts of the existing walls need to be stripped, the builder will most likely work with drywall to cover the stripped areas. Steel closet rods, wire hanging systems, and light fixtures are all typically used to finish a closet system.
How much do custom-designed closet systems cost?
Custom closets can cost $6,000-$10,000 or even more if the design requires structural changes to the room in which they’re installed.
