Great breakfast food, especially the hash browns, and great burgers! The pie shakes are simply outstanding, a must if you are stilling hankering for dessert. Recently featured on Campus Eats on the Big Ten Network. It is a unique home town eatery, if you are traveling through Iowa City, stop you won't be disappointed.
We loved the food; the hash browns were delicious as was the pie shake! We look forward to stopping there again soon!
Wast of money!!!!!
We went there today, out server did not refill drinks, did not do her job. We found hair in out food. The food has little or no taste. Everything must have come from a can. Nuthing is "Homemade" as they clam. Everything really sucked and we will never go back. We got sick from eating there. We spoke with a manager who did not even care about how we felt about the taste of the food or anything.

This is a great breakfast spot although sometimes the wait can be very long and it can get somewhat crowded inside. They offer a little bit of everything so if you aren't wanting breakfast you can order lunch/dinner. The pie shakes are yummy and the service is always friendly.

My husband and I love bringing our son here to eat. You can get any type of meal at any time during the day. You can get lunch in the morning or breakfast in the afternoon. The food is always good and you always leave satisfied. One thing I highly recommend trying are the pie milkshakes, they are a must. I know my family and I will continue to come here for many years.

Hamburg Inn was one of the first places I ate at after moving to Iowa City. I had heard so much about it from my sister and her friends I had to try it right away. One thing I like about it is that you can eat breakfast at any time during the day, I'm a big fan of breakfast and can eat it all the time. However, the food here is only okay, nothing really stands out to me. The service is friendly and prompt but the food seems somewhat bland to me. So far I haven't tried anything that makes me want to continue going back but my friends continue to drag me there. The food isn't horrible or anything it just doesn't do it for me.
Every four years, every politician stops here as part of his or her required agenda. This old-fashioned cafe is the best of the best. The prices can't be beat, and the atmosphere--check out the "presidential" table, and the photos on the wall of the famous/infamous. Great food, great prices, great history!
