You know I visited Indianapolis a while back to visit family, and decided it was time for myself an other family members to get tattoos that we had be planning for quite some time. Our tattoos were for a family member who passed away, we had talked about ideas but really had nothing set in stone. For some of us tattoos were no big deal, but then for others it was our first rodeo. We had checked out other places, priced some work and talked to different artists to feel out the places, but we just didn't get a great welcome let alone a good vibe. When we got to High Caliber it was a different feel. It looks like a big house but when you walk in its like a twist between a history museum, library and Zen garden. All the artists were friendly and spoke to us as they passed. There were other clients laughing and having enjoyable experiences and showing off their art. We didn't wait to long before our artists started to put together some ideas. While we were waiting Bobby the owner and artist, showed us around and I think even if you visited High Caliber everyday you would always notice something new and interesting to see. We proceeded to the back and never would you think all of these heavily tattooed artists would have a beautiful secret garden full of tree and flowers, fountains and statues, birds, even paths to walk. I guess you should never judge a book by it's cover. We had 4 artists and even one of the family decided to get a piercing. Micky was very professional, clean and had a huge selection of jewelry to choose from. The piercing room was full of amazing horror movie collectibles new and old, a little scary, but he made us comfortable regardless. The High Caliber artists came up with multiple custom pieces to accommodate all six of our styles and tastes, we knew we wouldn't see our tattoos walking around on other people, they were just for us! They are open from 12 to 9 pm but they stayed late to get us all done because some of us were heading home the following day. We got to also see many awards (and by the way every artist there has won more than one!) and their multiple appearances in reparable tattoo magazines in the past few months. They even have a woman tattoo artist, Trinity, that made a couple of us ladies feel more comfortable. They have lots of music to choose from so we all felt at home. Their apprentice cleaned after every tattoo, and helped the process move right along, he even ran to the local eateries to get us food and drinks. All of our needles and equipment was shown to us before hand to reassure their cleanliness for our health. When we were finished we were given very specific aftercare instructions which is better for us who have never taken care of a tattoo, it's not as simple as you think. Overall High Caliber took the prize. I read some of the reviews from years ago that were posted and I can assure you this is not the same crew or owner, only the same building. This made me more compelled to write on this tattoo shop. I would recommend them for anyone, even people where I'm from. I tell them the distance is worth the trip. Thanks High Caliber Tattoo! I've had two tattoos done here and I'm loving them both. I'm for sure coming back for more! #shoutouttobo
My tattoo turned out well, but Kym? SO RUDE. I'm a minor, and for Christmas my parents let me get a tattoo and I decided to dedicate my first tattoo to them, so I got a star with an American flag in it, with their dog tags hanging off of it. Went in to make an appointment to get it drawn up, she gave me an appointment, than I showed up to see what she draw, and she thought I was getting it that day. She did not make it clear that I was getting it THAT appointment. She than threatened me to make a "down payment" because it was considered a missed appointment. I went in a month later to get the tattoo, and the entire time she was ranting on about how she hates doing minors, this, that. (Like keep that to yourself?). I had to go in for another session because I was getting the tags added on. It was a painful session (a lot more painful than the first one, the first one was a breeze) because it was so close to my armpit and it was sensitive. She kept saying "this is why I hate doing minors" "you're the last minor I'm ever doing" "this isn't my kind of artwork I like doing". She's a good artist, but a rude person. If you're not a minor, I'd recommend going there. But just don't get on her bad side.
Got my first Tattoo from Justin at Untitled Ink. It came out awesome and I get compliments on it from everyone. The detail in my tattoo is incredible and looks like a fine piece of art on my arm. At first I was nervous being an older women getting my first tattoo. My first impression of shop was how sparkling clean it looked and smelled. The atmosphere was friendly and staff was very helpful and friendly and my tattoo artist Justin, put me at ease right away. He was soft spoken and very nice and professional. Justin is a true artist and gentlemen and I have referred many friends who also have been tattooed by him. I was also surprised at how inexpensive it was to get my beautiful tattoo. There is an old school charm to this small shop in Broad Ripple, where you leave with incredible tattoos and a good feeling that makes you feel like you could just pop in to say hi, as well as getting tattooed. Definitely one of my new favorite places, check it out! Untitled In and Justin are the best!!!!
So I went into Untitled Ink on recommendation by a friend. She told me that this place was extremely clean and really prided themselves on it. All I really needed was a cover up. The original tattoo was terribly done by a bad artist back in the day. And, yes, bad aftercare, too. I checked out Justin VanDevanders' portfolio and really liked what I saw. Good, clean lines. I loved his black and grey work; and his cover-ups were awesome! Better yet, I had checked out several shops before I walked into Untitled and they all basically laughed me out the door! I didn't look like the "tattoo collector" type, so no one would take me seriously. But Justin was very nice and respectful. He didn't look down on me because I wasn't tattooed from head to toe. So I made an appointment. He took my idea and mixed it with his; he really caught my vision. I loved it! I was thrilled! No complaints! Nice, funny guy. He gave me exactly what I wanted! I'll be back for more!
Unfortunately, I cannot remember the man's name that did my belly button piercing. However, he did an incredible job! Yes it definitely hurt, but it depends on how thick your skin is on your belly. He prepared me for the needle stick and after it was over, it was DEFINITELY worth it. I'd refer them to anyone wanting a piercing. The tattooing I am unsure of ONLY because I haven't gotten one yet. I plan to get one very soon, so I'll be glad to inform the readers of my experience. DO NOT go to anyone that doesn't work in a shop and/or without a license, that is the WORST thing to do. My sister illegally got her first tat done by some boy we went to school with and it was sloppy, let alone the worst work I've ever seen. Only person I can recommend is her certain tattooer, Biz. Other than that, stick to shop-workers. Piercings outside of a shop can get infected quickly and end up crooked and/or pierced in the wrong area. BE SMART AND GO TO A SHOP! Good luck to all!
So i was refered to Biggins from a female that i work with. I told her that I wanted some letters on me but I wanted them to be original, not like others i have seen before... He did some work on her that was totally cold!!!!! I liked the detail that he did, it looked really professionsal. I went in there yesterday and told him what i wanted, not only was he a cool guy.... The price was right, the letters where exactly how i wanted them and the shading was sick..... When it was done i couldnt wait to go show it off.... I am an account coordinator and I have been sending pics of my new tatt all day. I have gotten nothing but postive feedback which i knew i would receive. So screw all of you that think Biggins is not great at what he does... If your looking for something original check Biggins out, enough said..... Thanks again Biggins...... I'll be back like an electic bill... LOL, LOL.....
This is one of the cleanest tattoo shops I have ever been in. I mean, the place is pristine. You would think it was a hospital if it weren't for the the art on the walls. Speaking of art on the walls, there are some really cool pieces on the walls, and didn't even realize it was also an art studio till I was talking to the owner. When you walk into this place for the first time you are greeted and told to look through the artist portfolios to pick your favorite artist- if you don't have one already. I decided on Anthony because he looked like he was a perfectionist about his art, which is exactly what I wanted. My appointment was scheduled for 2 weeks out and it ended up being a great tattoo experience. Anthony was personable and did an awesome job on the two tattoos he completed that night. The price was perfectly reasonable and again, the service was great.
I've been going to Big Time since my first tattoo a few years back and haven't stopped since. My brother, father, best friend, fiance and myself have all had work done at this wonderful gallery. The knowledge, professionalism, and the skill of each of the artists, especially the shops owner Bill, is unmatched anywhere else. JC, another very talented artist at the shop. So when my fiance started talking about getting a new piercing we headed up to the shop and talked to their expert piercer Froggy. He isn't only the best local piercer, but the best in the state. Back when he lived in Arizona he underwent an extensive apprenticeship with one of best piercers in the country. I highly recommend Big Time Tattoos and Piercings to everybody, ranging from someones first piece or a tattoo veteran, who wants an amazing tattoo
Untitled Ink is wonderful. I got my third tattoo here a week ago and it was everything my friends promised it would be. I am planning to come back for another (it s true that they re addictive) as soon as I scrounge up some more extra cash. Justin is an amazing artist and very professional. He was helpful, honest, and designed a tattoo that was exactly what I was picturing. I m not a squeamish one in the chair, but his workspace was very comfortable and calming. I m not sure what was happening with the music - it might have been a long playlist or a sat radio station, but whatever it was I was into it! We had a nice chat, and the time seemed to fly by. That s how great he is, the time flew by while I was getting inked. Come here for your tattoo, ask for Justin, and you will not be disappointed.
Danielle is the only APP (Association of Profession Piercers) certified piercer in Indiana, the next closest one is a guy in Chicago, that I could find, plus she is a girl. She did my sister's ear and my clitoral hood. She is AWESOME. She did the piercings quick while engaging you in conversation so i literally did not feel a thing. She also makes sure to put the jewelery in as soon as possible unlike most piercers who reach back to their convenience and take their time pulling your skin. Me and my sister were both whiplashed at the speed, efficiency, and painlessness. GO TO DANIELLE FOR ANY AND ALL PIERCINGS! She is located at the South Artistic Skin Designs place, don't go on a weekend or you will be waiting awhile.
