I always like to support small businesses. These are some of the nicest business owners that I have had the pleasure of doing business with. We have purchased 2 amazing birds from them. Our first bird was purchased from a large chain and there is such a huge difference in the birds. These owners put their heart into caring for these animals until the day they are ready to come home. They really make you feel like family while you are visiting. All the extra customer service without the high costs. Birds and accessories are extremely reasonable. Will never purchase a bird from anywhere else. Love these guys!!!
I posted on Bird Fever's Face Book page on June 11 2015, when message about some of their new baby birds was posted. I asked the following question: I asked if Bird Fever had any policy or procedures about protecting baby birds and their mature birds from PDD, a highly contagious and very fatal virus. I asked that do they follow the proper procedures to protect their birds, and if they could demonstrate those practices and can show that their birds are PDD free and how they were protecting themselves from the virus. I also asked if they published that type of information for consumers. I asked these questions because I purchased a Cockatiel from their store October 2014 and it died March 2015. It lived less than a year. I had a biopsy done and it strongly suggests that it had PDD. I asked a series of questions. And that post was deleted and I am now prevented from posting on their Face Book page. Not only did Bird Fever not answer my question, they deleted the post and prevented me from posting. This behavior is highly indicative that Bird Fever knows about PDD and they are not engaging in safe practices to protect their birds. I brought a bird from Bird Fever. It died in less than a year with under questionable circumstances. I would encourage everyone to ask Bird Fever those questions regarding PDD. If they can't answer or won't answer, or kick you out of the store, or vilify this post, they have something to hide. Go elsewhere where pet shop owners can answer the questions. God knows Bird Fever hasn't answered mine.
Have spent several thousand dollars in this store, It is evident it is all about the money. Have some nasty employees, say things they don't really know the answers to, rather than seeking help. There are a couple of good employees or was. I have been spoken to by employees as i should not be spoken to. I would look for another place first before going back. Driving some miles might be worth the effort.

I visited this store while on a business trip in Indianapolis. My wife had found this store on the internet and wanted me to visit while i was in the neighbourhood. I was greatly impressed as soon as i walked into the store by the helpful friendly staff and the wide range of products and exotic birds. I received very good advice on all areas of concern for our cockateil. I am very grateful to the staff who were interested in helping me. I highly recommend a visit to this store. You will not be disappointed and i look forward to visiting again. My wife was thrilled with the products i bought for our cockateil and is enjoying a lovely cup of tea in her bird fever cup, courtesy of the kind staff. Thank you Bird Fever staff!

Every time I have gone in this store, the staff completely ignores me and is very rude. It's almost as though they go out of there way to NOT help. They sit at the counter and eat lunch, ignoring customers. I went in there to purchase a bird. I had a lot of questions. Not ONE of them even greeted me when I walked in. I will never go back and advise other future or current bird owners to do the same.
The staff here is very knowledgeable and can help you with most of your problems or concerns. I cross checked prices on the internet and they are very competetive with any other retailer out there. It is true you can find cheaper birds from a breeder, that is if you know how to hand feed them for the next several months. I would pay the extra money for a weaned baby with a health gurantee and even a free vet visit on most of their birds. Definitely the best prices on grooming birds you will find anywhere. They support the local breeders here by buying birds and also buy from some very reputable breeders in the south. Absoloutely no bird brokers involved, much better than the chain stores. I have many birds, most from bird fever, and their birds are taken care of better than anywhere else I have been. Definitely the best around.

The staff is very knowledgeable, and helpful. The store is as clean as can be expected considering the number of birds pooping and throwing food around. I am very particular about where my birds come from and happen to own many birds. I always check to see where my birds were hatched. Most bands will say spee, which is a breeder in the south, or lcf which is in florida. Both very reputable breeders that are well known around the country. The few bands that say bird fever on them are generally from local breeders that arent equipped to put their own bands on the birds. There are maybe 5 places their birds come from, not everywhere as stated by others. Their prices for the most part cant be beat even on the internet, unless you are buying used. You can find birds cheaper going directly to the breeder, but I hope you know how to hand feed properly for the next several months. Know that when you buy from bird fever you are buying from a reputable company that does not do business with brokers, and you are getting a quality companion. If you want to know exactly where your bird came from just ask. You also get a health gurantee and even a free vet visit with most birds.
Mediocre Service, only "petstore quality" birds, unfriendly, snobby. Would not recommend. Do a quick internet search and you will find a ton of other places (with far better service and animals) to frequent. I feel people only frequent this shop out of a lack of knowledge of the other options out there. They claim to be the only specialty store in Indy for birds when in reality they may be the only "retail location" but there is plenty of other places to get these birds and other items. Do a google search for birds for sale, bird breeders, exotic birds and you will likely find SO many other better options. You can get far better quality at a FAR better price somewhere else.
