The Bar tenders at Baroos are all pretty good. One lady is exceptionally great, ( I cannot recall her name at the moment, but She is an older woman mid forties long brown hair.) She has been a professional bartender for a long time and it shows. She brings could conversation to the table and is never insulting or condescending as some bartenders can be. Like the owners wife. She is a skinny blonde twenty something with braces and has a horrible attitude, towards customers. And is generally disliked by the regulars.
As far as the bar itself goes, here are the PROS: it is a great place for the most part. Great clean pool tables, (quarter tables, which are hard to find these days). The regulars at the bar are all non hostile and friendly people. The drinks are usually pretty strong and the beer is fresh. The also have $5 all you can drink PBR on monday nights.
CONS: The air is usually pretty stale and there is no fans or powerful filtration systems to clean the smoke out of the air. By the end of the night it's almost unbearable.
The bathrooms are filthy and the urinals do not flush. They need to be completely gutted and redone. As of now they resemble your typical state fair Porta-Potties
The way the bar is set up is a cluttered nightmare. The cigarette machine is directly in front of the ONE AND ONLY DART BOARD. So you have to step right in front of the board to buy smokes, while at the same time interrupting someones game. Right behind the cigarette dispenser is the ATM machine which is blocked by a Foosball table that nobody plays. Behind the Foosball table is a collection of customers bicycles that must be brought inside every night, because Baroos does not provide a bike rack out front for its customers.
Last but not least, if the owner is there and he doesn't like the music that you have just payed for, he has a controller to the digital jukebox and will change it without thinking twice. NO REFUND (Just the other night, I had put five dollars in the jukebox and "super-searched" for some John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Raymond Scott, and YES. I often get sick of the typical bar music, you know (Creed, Nickleback, Disturbed, Led Zepplin, Akon, Kesha, Kid Rock) Actually I can't stand any of that stuff. So I payed money to change the style of music for a couple of minutes. I could hear one of the owners friends say "What the hell are we listening to?" in which he replied "I have no %&king idea!" He grabbed a controller from under the counter and skipped every single one of my songs, and put on some Guns & Roses song.
My buddy told him that we had just payed five dollars to hear music that we liked. The bartender who also happened to be the owners wife, argued "You didn't pay five dollars for that!" as if we were stupid for wanting to listen to something other than 3 Doors Down.
We felt very insulted and asked for out money back. NO dice. We left with our tail between our legs.
Baroos if want pills of any kind or get some cocaine this is the spot...girls pile in the bathroom to do lines and come out with powder and snot hanging from their nose. Bathroom are filthy. Bartender Stephen jacked up on cocaine. Lawyers hang out here if you need one. One stop bar this is drugs, alcohol lawyers and if you get sick or hurt there's plenty of nurses snorting cocaine in the bathroom to help you get back on your feet. Come on down to Baroos they got it all.....special on oxy's!
Blonde bartender needs a major attitude adjustment. She was so rude it felt like asking for anything was putting her out. The place has a stale funk smell to it and there seems to be no airflow. It's dark and dreary inside. There are MUCH better place to go around town. Don't waste your time at this one.
