0 STARS! He's had my chairs for 6 months and puts us off week after week after week. We've made many calls and many visits to the store. We're pretty sure he forgot he had them for the first three months, and now just pretends he's working on them. I'm not sure if we'll ever get them back. I am patient, and would've really appreciated a genuine time guesstimate.
This store is in a small strip of stores on the access road for 431 N. All the stores apparently share the same pull in parking slots in front of the strip. We were going to one of the other businesses in the strip, but parked in a slot in front if Gerald's, a couple of doors down from where we were going. A representative from Gerald's chased me down inside the other business to tell me to move my car. I confirmed that the space were not marked reserved for any business in the strip, but apparently he is very possessive of the slots in from of his Suite. I did not appreciate being chased down inside another business to tell me to move my vehicle from an unmarked, unreserved parking slot. If each business comes with designated parking slots only, then mark them. But until then, don't chase people down to move a car. I would not use this business just because of the attitude from the store's representative.
I had a chair done by Gerald a couple of years ago. I had the exact same problem with him as far as being very slow. He told me December...got the chair in April. I am a professional seamstress (custom draperies, etc) and a decorator, so I know fabric and what to do with it. I wanted to use the backside of the fabric...liked it better...and he ARGUED with me about it. Why am I doing that, blah, blah, blah. I also had the fabric with me, and knew it was plenty for the job. He harumphed about that, too. Hope it's enough, the pattern size you know...BUT, I have to say that when I finally did get the chair back it was absolutely perfect! The pattern matches perfectly, he replaced the old seat cushion and refinished the wood parts of the chair. So, if you are willing to put up with him, he does do an excellent job. He gets 2 stars just because the finished result is so gorgeous.
DO NOT USE GERALDS CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY! Gerald has had my two wing back chairs for 6 months and continues to tell us each time we call that he is "currently working on them and is almost done." This has happened so many times that I am left to conclude that the man knowingly lies to us just to put us off a little longer. I have no idea how he can run a business this way. Save yourselves a real hassle and go elsewhere! No stars for him despite the one that I had to give him so the site would take my review - he gets 5 black holes from me.
I am sad to say that I am extremely disappointed. "Gerald" had my chair in his possession for over 3 months . . . I called twice during that time period to inquire about the progress and both times the response was, "I am working on that one right now!" When I called earlier this week, he said that the chair should be done this weekend. It is Friday, I just left the store... with my chair... untouched. In fact, he had it stored in a warehouse behind that shop.Now I can understand, "I do not have time to do your chair," or "I don't know how to upholster your chair," or "No, I am not interested in restoring your chair." BUT I will NOT tolerate a liar in business.Gerald's Upholstry . . . no stars for you. The one star there is for the 2 gentlemen who WERE working on furniture and tried to be helpful.
