Honestly, I travelled 2,400 miles from the West coast to experience the Huntsville, Alabama Thrift Mart first hand. I must say, it does not disappoint! I was delighted to see that the manager does indeed snort a variety of opiates, and after doing so becomes incredibly attentive for 3-5 minutes, right up until the shakes set in. Anyone who knows me knows I love two things. Jesus, and finding a deal, and I was able to score a ziplock bag containing various molds and 7 pounds of "second hand bologna" for only $4.99! How many birds can one even hit with a single stone!?Also, Thrift Mart is for LOVERS! I met my first wife while waiting in the line for the bathroom, which is enchanting, even if it is only a rolling bucket with a secondary function of mop holder. We conceived our first abortion right there in aisle 8, behind the hornets nest. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Highly recommend!

This is NOT a true thrift store! The prices are ridiculously high. Also, there is no dressing room to try on the over-priced clothes. They allow you seven days to return clothing, but who wants to go home and try on clothes and then go back to the store to return an item all the time?
Awful, unethical, for-profit store in a shady section of town. Horrible management and practices. There are plenty of thrift stores in town that use the money they make to better the lives of others. This apparently makes a big difference in how a thrift store is run because Thrift Mart is overpriced and they ring up items, don't bag them, and then resell them to another customer. Sad, but true. Skip this one.
We went to the pet adoption event and fell in love with a dog. We paid the fee and signed the contract. The director Karen didn't want to let him go to us so she said she needed to do a home inspection. We agreed and she didn't show. 2 days later she called saying someone else had already adopted him. What a joke. They do this all the time. They discriminate to who they want. They told us they had another dog for us to go pick it up. We drove there and they didn't let us take the dog. My daughters were upset and the lady told me I needed to teach them disappointment. Never again!
I adopted a dog from this organization years ago. I am being forced to move to a place that doesn't allow dogs. I went and explained myself, and they weren't happy that my dog and I had to be separated, and they didn't have a spot open in a foster home right then. They told me I could help get him adopted. I brought him to Petsmart two weekends in a row, and on the second weekend an awesome family with kids adopted my sweet Buddy. All these people are volunteers, trying to make the best of the situation. I am glad they are here, doing what they are doing. I am going to try to start helping them by volunteering. They saved Buddy from the shelter and maybe death. I bet he is happier than he ever was with me. If you need to take a pet back to them, you will have to be involved - this organization isn't like the city pound where you can just dump them an leave. You should know that going in.
We changed the baseboard out in upgrading our home and after my father making a special trip to Habitat for Humanity to donate our old baseboards for us. He was told Habitat for Humanity was not taking anymore donations. Maybe if they were helping people that need the help by offering prices that are a good prices, Habitat for Humanity might need donations. Instead of wasting the time of those that can donate and those that are in need.
This place is asking outrageous prices on as is merchandise. I find very little difference in price between them and sale itema at big box stores and there is no warranty or returns! I have yet after buying a dozen or more plumbing items like faucettes and toilets been able to get o e to work without rebuilding the thing anyway. The tile prices are higher than home depot, and the furniture pieces are about double that of craigslist fi ds of same caliber. I used to frequent this location dropping off stuff and finding more than i dropped off, but now i just set my stuff on the curb as its no fun to go there anymore..
The checkout line in this place reminds me of roller coaster lines at six flags. The cashiers move with little regard to the length of line. I have abandonded the checkout line often leaving a cart full of stuff. They rarely answer the phone but instead pick it up and hang it up. I now avoid this place like the plague.
This place is a joke!! They told us that we could return the pet to them if we did not want her. Well i grew allergic and needed to send her back. They told us they were too full and then told us to bring her to petsmart on their adoption days. That is not what is in the contract. Not once did it say i had to waste my gas going to petsmart to try to find this dog a new adoption. They have broken their end of the contract as far as i am concerned. I would not recommended getting an animal from this place!!! Very rude and unprofessional unless you are getting a pet from them then they are happy to take your money and run! Thanks for nothing a new leash on life!
Staff needs to be more educated on the sales! Called on Saturday 9/5/15 to see if any specials going on and they told me 50% off everything. Great! Drive there, shop for 2.5 hours being selective on a budget only to be told upon checkout that the sale will actually be on Monday 9/7/15 and would not honor the 50% off even though I was told wrong. Irritating and waste of time and too bad they had to put everything back!!
