The food is super; the service is top notch; and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The price is a bit higher than many eateries in the area, but you pay for what you get--and the dining experience is well worth the extra bucks, in my opinion.

I entered the side door to be greeted and cheerfully said hello to by a very beautiful blue eyed cashier. While I made my way to her register I listened to her explain to a very elderly man the items on the whataburger. he proceeded to tell her what he did not want on it. she started pressing buttons. she repeated the description back to him. he again repeated what he did not want on it. she assured him that those items would not be on the burger. she collected the money and gave him his change back. she immediately smiled and said that his order would be out in a few moments. I stepped up to her and again she smiled and asked what i would like and told me of the new burger she had. i placed my order. she asked if i wanted a desert. i gave her my money and she gave the change. she told me it would be a few moments. there weren't anymore customers behind me. when she stepped away from the register i saw that she was VERY MUCH indeed ready to have a baby. She turned and went to the fry station. I asked her if I could get Hot Fries, again she flashed a very bright smile and said" Sure, No problem". The problem I saw was her bending down and to her wonderment--NO FRIES!!... she immediately assured me that she would get some and be right back.. To her dismay she found out there wasn't anymore. the manager Ellen came and apologized to me said they were waiting on some more.I was comped with a small shake. while i waiting on my burger.. there came an employee with what i found out to be fries. my order came up and i started to eat my burger-- while it was hot, fresh and everything i had imagined it to be.. Delora came and gave me my medium- upsized to large fries and proceeded to tell me that she was sorry for the extra wait. she even took some trash that i had on the table-non-whataburger related and asked me if i would like anything else. I told her no. she went back to her register and continued her duties. The manager came and asked if I had received the fries and apologized to me.I told her it was no problem that I wasn't in a hurry and besides Delora had very much helped me and made me feel so welcome and at ease. I am a VERY picky eater and I DO NOT like to wait. I wasn't in a very good mood. I had just had a fender-bender not 30 minutes ago and while pulling in the restaurant, which I going thru the drive-thru, my tire went on flat, so hence the reason I came into the restaurant that day.. I am so thankful I did.. Thanks to Delora and Whataburger I left there with a smile and a very full belly.. I have since then made it a habit to come in to there. It took me a couple of trips before I could find out that Delora had her baby and had taken time off.. This is very disappointing..since there has been no one that has smiled as much or as beautifully and does not give that sincere helpfullness.. I have witnessed many employees and none of them compare to her warmth and genuine friendliness I felt that day... I have talked to other customers and they also remember her and would LOVE to see her back again.. So dear manager at 4545 NW Freeway, Houston, Texas 77022. please get Delora back as an employee.. She truly made my whataburger experience.. signed: Lovin' and Missin' that "whataburger smile gal"
Our latest dining experience could be classified as excellent from start to finish. We had mojitos and sangria ($2.50 during happy hour) at the bar, and ordered a tostada de ceviche. The mojitos were excellent, the sangria fresh and fruity, and the ceviche was tasty and tangy, just the right starter for the evening. Our bartender was... attentive and provided great service even though there wasn't a single empty seat at the bar. An auspicious start to what turned out to be a wonderful culinary journey. We were seated promptly when our party members arrived and started our meal with one of the entrees. The pork ribs, were abundant (it looked like an entire rack of ribs), flavorful, tender, meaty, and finger licking good . We polished it off with gusto, looking forward to what lay ahead. Our entrees soon arrived looking very artful in their presentation with mounds of rice shaped like pyramids. The Jalapeno Glazed Salmon over White rice was the best dish of the night - the seasoning and the marriage of flavors are brilliant, winning combination. The spinach and sweet potato enchelada was also very good. The desserts were also a revelation - the flan (I ordered it with the sauce on the side) , light and airy and so-so good. The meal came out to about $35 per couple before tip. Considering we all had cocktails and 3 courses (shared the appetizers and desserts) this was an excellent value for the quality of the food we sampled. The food IS worth what you pay. And I could not ask for better service of waitstaff that obviously take pride in their restaurant. People know good food, and if the crowd tonight was anything to go by (the entire restaurant was packed to the hilt on a Friday night), they know they will find it at Cielo Mexican Bistro. I certainly did.
This is a truly fine restaurant. The service is excellent, the decor is fabulous, the prices are reasonable and best of all the food is true New Mexico food at its very best. We absolutely love this place. The enchiladas are stacked rather than rolled, in true New Mexico style. The peppers used in the red and green chili sauces are New Mexico raised. I grew up in New Mexico and this food is in my blood. My wife on the other hand is from New England. She had her first exposure to this food in Albuquerque when she attended the University of New Mexico. She's now as ardent a fan as I am and has become a pretty good cook of New Mexico food in her own right. She too is crazy about Santa Fe flats. We don't drink but many of the restaurants other customers each time we visit are enjoying the house margaritas served in large beer mugs. When the weather is decent, the kids play outside in a sandbox while we dine in an adjacent covered ramada. Live music is provided outside several times a week. We've been coming here now for over three years and the same waitstaff has been here the whole time. The proprietors, whose roots are in New Mexico, have done a fabulous job in bringing New Mexico's finest food to Houston.
This is by far one of my favorite places to eat! It is not unusual to walk into a packed house on a workday afternoon. The store has an orange and white roof, which should help you find it. If I thought my heart could handle it,I would eat here daily! It is the perfect combination of melty cheese, piping hot meat, and golden grilled onions! Or you can go for authentic and get a Philly with cheese-wiz. The bread they use is specially ordered and shipped to them. It has a nice crust on the outside and is soft and delicious on the inside! Their fries are always hot and perfect! They have a light batter on the outside and just look great, and are perfectly seasoned. They have chicken sandwiches and burgers too, but the owner says that 90% of their sales are a form of their FAMOUS Philly! Free refills on the fountain drink machine! Always a good thing! Price point is about $10-$11 to make your taste buds smile. It is totally worth in every now and then (or weekly if you are like me and love a good Philly Cheesesteak. I consider myself to be a bit of a Philly connoisseur, and this place has the BEST I HAVE EVER EATEN!
We literally just left the restaurant and had to write a review immediately. It was fantastic! Without a doubt the best Churrascaria in Houston. From the minute you walk in the door it is as if you are royalty and the waitstaff's sole job is to make certain that you have the absolute best dining experience possible. They do not disappoint. Of course that is just the service, how is the food? In a word Magnificent! The meat, of all varieties, is incredibly flavorful, tender and delightfully decadent. The endless waves of meat coming forth from the incredibly attentive waitstaff would have made this as wonderful a dining experience as possible, but then the dessert bar... Everything is brought to you from salad, to side dishes, to entrees, but the dessert bar has an entire area all of its own. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for any occasion, it is not only the best Churrascaria in Houston but also the least expensive. Not only do you get marvelous service, fantastic food but also a fantastic atmosphere. If you are in the area, and by area .... I would drive fifty miles for a meal here... do not miss it.
I don't know where to start. This place, all three locations, has the greatest food. As in I have the phone numbers on speed dial and I also carry their to-go menus in my car good. I absolutely love the Guadalajara sampler. The chicken enchiladas are to die for. The chips n salsa is spectacular!! Everything tastes fresh and well seasoned. Even the ribs and one might ask why you have ribs at a Mexican restaurant. Well because you can and because it's hard to pass up. I have yet to try anything that I didn't like. Even my dad loved the place and he's very very picky. No other place could touch the beloved Mexicantessen, which use to be located in the studewood area. But I think he has crossed over. This location is my favorite, the other is located in near The Woodlands. Plus, they have great service. That makes a BIG difference. The staff seems to be trained very well and most importantly, they keep the place clean. I also like that there's always running hot water in the restrooms. For some reason you don't always get that with other like restaurants. But check it out. You won't be sorry.
11-11-09 was our first experience at La Cantina on I-10. The building looks appealing. The inside (including ladies room) was very clean!!!! The atmosphere was pleasant. The employees were kind and timely. Our food came out in a timely manner and was HOT. : ) I got the La Tapatia with a side of guacamole and my husband got the Cowboy. The chips were warm and crisp. The salsa was not too hot (with pepper) - I was sooooo pleased that I could eat it. The flavor of both salsas was AWESOME! I make my own salsa and their red sauce was very close to mine. Two thumbs up on the salsas!!!! The meals were DELICIOUS! Everything was seasoned to perfection. Even the lettuce and tomato tasted like lettuce and tomato and not unripe tasteless veggies. AND the guacamole was not overtaken by the taste of lime. I hate when all you taste is lime and no avocado. It is reasonably priced and we both were busting at the seams. We even brought some home. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE!!! If they have gift cards I hope to get one in my Christmas stocking from Santa!
Catherine’s latest venture, Café Brussels is a great new addition to the Heights. Try the Tartare de Saumon dressed with a zesty Belgian country vinaigrette accompanied by a Belgian draft beer or glass (bottle!) of wine. You can’t go wrong requesting Catherine’s favorite mussel dish for a main course, Belgian classic, Moules Marinières, accompanied by a large serving of golden Belgian Fries. The large and succulent mussels are steamed to perfection and portion sizes are very generous! My dining companion enjoyed le Petit Pavé de Bruxelles, a perfectly cooked steak and le Cordon Bleu. Be sure to leave room for one of Café Brussels fabulous desserts! Catherine's crepes are among my favorites. Catherine Duwaz is both a good friend and a genuinely nice person. It brings me great pleasure to see a friend continue to succeed in a town that can be unforgiving to restaurateurs. Cafe Brussels is our new "go-to" place in Houston for great Belgian food. And to top it all off, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and the portions sizes are generous.
I've been eating here for about 20 years now. I once managed the Superior Waterbeds (early 90's) that was about a block away on I-45. That's when I got adicted. Their salsa is unique and the best I've ever had by far. It's got bite, not the mild tomato based bland sauce of so many copycat Tex-Mex places. I have a favorite here that is also not just the same ol' stuff you always see on the menu everywhere. Try the beef tip burrito dinner. It's to die for, expecially drenched in their salsa. The rice and refried beans served with it are nothing special. If they ever add barracho bean soup or some spicy black beans with pico or something as special as the main entree and salsa this will be the best meal on the planet! The location is nothing to brag about. It's not fancy or elegant. It's way out of my way to go there and the atmosphere is somewhere just above a fast food joint. But don't let that keep you from trying this incredible dining experience. It is truely something special in a world of ordinary.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant ever. We have frequented a lot of Mexican food restaurants, and who hasn't when you live in Texas. But Tierra Luna Grill is by far the best I have ever been to. The flavor of the salsa is awesome. Evidently they grill the tomatoes for the salsa and who knows how they spice it up. The chips are warm and thin and crispy. They give you a small bowl of queso with the chips. I could dine on the chips and stuff alone. They were soooo good. And the waitstaff is terrific at keeping the bowls full and making their customers happy. The owner even came by and visited with us. She was wonderful. And then there are the entrees. All I can say is 'WOW!' They were marvelous. The Carnitas, Fajitas, and the Barbacoa are to die for. Perfectly cooked and spiced to enhance the flavor, not overpower it. The charro beans and spanish rice where super as well. Fantastic homecooked Mexican food and the waitstaff is great. We very highly recommend the Tierra Luna Grill.
