From household hazards to insurance, here is a roundup of our best tips for ensuring your pet's safety.
Just like the planning that went into your vacation, there is planning needed before boarding your pet. Here are some dos and don'ts to help make the process a little easier.
My boyfriend's ex-wife called him in hysterics because, an animal they purchased while together was near death, and it needed immediate care. She couldn't afford to pay for the vet visit and wanted to know if we would be willing to help. We called the Gulf Coast Animal Emergency Hospital on a Sunday afternoon, desperate for help, asking if the boyfriend of the ex-wife brought the pet in, could we pay over the phone with a credit card. Not only did they not have an issue with the "broken" family, shared pet scenario, they told us what the costs would be upfront, brought in a specialist to meet them at the clinic, they kept us apprised of the situation and, the vet even took time to talk to us about what had happened, and how to keep the other animals from getting sick. They happily emailed us a receipt, along with a very personal note sending their condolences, (the animal died on the way in), and they were so super nice during the entire process, it really helped my boyfriend make it through this very emotional situation. These days, it is amazing to find that during such an emotional time, there are still people that take the time to care about the feelings of other people. Not to mention the fact they have extremely reasonable fees that everyone can afford. Nothing worse than having a critically ill animal, than to have to take out a loan to pay for it. If you live in the Houston area, I highly recommend Gulf Coast Animal Emergency Hospital. Reasonable rates, caring and loving people. Doesn't get any better than that.
First of all I would like to say to everyone who is complaining about the strict late policies: Would you be a minute late for a job interview? If you know your house is far from the clinic, leave an extra ten minutes early!!! Do you honestly think its ok to just show up to ANY appointment late? NO. You made an appointment for a certain time, BE THERE ON TIME! If you don't think you're going to make it, CALL THEM AND THEY WILL LET YOU KNOW IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SEE YOU OR NOT. I have been bringing my pets here since they've opened and I always see angry customers treating the staff at the clinic terribly and so disrespectfully, yet THEY are the ones who arrived to their appointment 10 minutes late. I think the KAAWS clinic is a great clinic and I believe in everything Dr. B and all of its employees stand for. Sure every business may have a mishap every one in a while but I feel like the staff at the clinic all care about customer satisfaction and helping your pet out the best way. It's a very clean and welcoming clinic, I have not once smelled a "bad smell" there before. KAAWS is the only way I am able to have four pets and not break the bank, so THANK YOU to all the doctors and staff working there. You all should not have to put up with some of the rude and disrespectful people who come through there.
To the Wonderful Meadowlake Staff, We sincerely appreciate the time you take with each of our dogs. We know they are safe and definitely happy campers at your facility. The playtime in daycare or private play-time, training, or staying in one of your patio rooms- are all a hit with our dogs. Your staff is courteous and welcoming. They always take the time to talk about each dog and give us an update. We’ve seen such a positive difference in our dogs after they’ve been in your care. We can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for many of our dogs. We love being able to partner with such a fine facility and staff. We know our dogs are well cared for and thank you for all your hard work! Scout’s Honor Rescue especially Griffin, Viva, Ellie Mae, Niki, Truman, Roxy, Misty and Caesar
I read the "bad" reviews and I must say, I was hesitant at first, but went ahead and took my two pets. I had told myself if the feeling was bad when I got there I would leave and loose my deposit. I got there being skeptical. My dogs acted fine during their check up before surgery so I was ok, I did worry of normal mishaps, but it all went well! They were very nice to me and my two dogs. They were very informative as sweet! For these people complaining about being one minute late, my question is would you be one minute late to your interview for a job? Think about other people's time! I was early and absolutely loved this place. If I ever need another spay or neuter I will defiantly be back!
Well, it looks like someone is a little hostile and upset. Anyway, this is AN ACTUAL review of the resort. Not just some upset boyfriend or something. I have had my dog going to Meadowlake for quite a few months now, and WE could not be happier. The staff, from the front desk to the people in back, have always been nice to us and greeted us with smiles. They knew me BY NAME when I first checked in, and treated me and my dog with the utmost respect ever since. Everyone is wonderful there, and please don't be taken by the rude review left below. This is a place for honesty, and honestly, I wouldn't trust anyone else to take care of my loved one. THANK YOU, all of you, for everything you do!!!
My German Shepherd, Laila required surgery on her left knee and Dr. Murray was amazing. The initial first few days were hard on the recovery, but it has been 4 months now and my dog is almost back to normal. Dr. Murray was referred by another Vet as being the best in knee surgery and I am convinced, she is. My dog might require surgery on her other knee, but for now she is 90% back to normal. I followed instructions faithfully and the results were impressive. If I need Dr. Murray again for any type of Ortho surgery, she is the one I will go to. We were completely satisfied with the Vet and the entire team at Neartown. I wouldn't have trusted the surgery to anyone else.
I've taken my dog there many times and the staff is always polite. My dog loves going and gets excited as soon as we turn into Furman Rd. They send home pictures of the dogs playing! I've never had that done anywhere else. It gives me piece of mind knowing what my dog does all day and that he's having fun. The facility is beautiful and always smells clean. Not like most other places that smell like pee! Clearly you are in need of some serious counseling. I'd tell you to get a pet, but you don't deserve one. And if you have one, hopefully he runs away :)
I have not yet brought Trixie to Dr. Swanson, but from the phone call I have just finished, I would rate this staff member with 5 gold stars!! I wish I could remember her name. She answered the phone so politely and offerred me many dates and times for Trixie's first visit. The staff member explained all of the policies and answered all of my millions of questions with patience and in the most polite manner. If this call is any indication of the care Trixie will receive upon arrival to the clinic, WE CAN'T WAIT!!
We love Dr. Marshall and her hospital. She and her staff are always there for our pets. She is the most knowledgeable and service oriented doctor we've worked with. She is always up to date on the latest medicine and clinical techniques for our pets. Our pets have had some of the most critical illness and she guided us and cared for our pets every step of the way. The facility is very clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. I can't say enough about how comforting it is have a vet like this.
I have 4 babies and I'm very picky on how they are groomed. I have brought them to 4 different groomers in Katy but never liked the way they looked when I picked them up. I had quit a few people tell me about Rover Oaks and how good they were. Well they were right! When I picked them up the first time getting groomed I called my husband and told him I finally found a grooming home for my babies. The staff is very professional and extremely nice! I would recommend Rover Oaks to anyone.
