I’ve been with West Oaks Music Studio since the 7th grade. I had started first out on violin in the 6th grade, but I was looking for any chance to be able to move up to the higher orchestra in school. A friend of mine had suggested the studio to me. At the time, she was the best violin player in school. It was been a wonderful 4 years at the studio so far. In fact, I love the place so much, I work there now at the front desk. I am now the section leader for my high school’s symphonic orchestra’s viola section thanks to one of the wonderful teachers there for being such an amazing violist AND violinist. Not only that, because of the studio, I have now rekindled an old passion of mine: playing the piano. The studio holds some of the best memories I’ve ever had, from the autumn and spring recitals to just sitting in the lobby listening to students jamming out on their instruments.

With All Due Respect

With all due respect to the woman who says she had to pay $30 to meet the teacher, that is not correct. $30 was the registration fee. The prospective client wanted more than to meet the teacher. She wanted some of the teacher's teaching time for free.

I have been teaching there for over five years. It's a great place for teachers and students. We are more than happy to meet new students before teaching them and the student can buy a trial lesson to see if the teacher is a good fit. The registration fee is currently for your whole household for life. No other studio in the area does that.

Come meet us and discover the truth for yourself. You will not be disappointed in us.

Years ago, when my son’s piano teacher said that there was “nothing more she could do for my son” because of his autism, I did not give up hope. I found the answer to my prayers: West Oaks Music Studio. The kindness and patience they showed my child was immense. So seventeen years later, my son is still a student at the best and ONLY music studio any parent should take his or her child to for lessons. The atmosphere is extremely friendly and the receptionist is always very sweet and helpful. The owner is very conscious of always having the right fit between student and teacher. Her number one concern is the students’ enjoyment and happiness while taking their music lessons. Also, every teacher goes the extra mile to ensure the student is learning and progressing at a good pace. They are very professional and well-trained in their musical skills and there is always an open door to any teacher to discuss the student’s progress. The teachers make it their business to visit with each parent after every lesson in order to discuss the direction the student is heading in with his or her lessons. My son feels it is his home away from home whenever he enters into the studio. My younger son also has taken music lessons in a variety of instruments as well as vocal training which was extremely beneficial to him when he entered college. It taught him how to always put his best foot forward and strive for improvement and how the concern and kindness of an instructor can guide an individual onto the correct path in life. Taking music lessons is the best activity a parent can offer a child since gives a child a love for all kinds of music. West Oaks Music Studio is the only place where one-on-one private music lessons should be experienced.

West Oaks is the only music instruction place in Houston that I would recommend. They have qualified (Bachelors and some Masters) and very friendly teachers. There are a lot of available instrument/vocal options and you can study any kind of music that you like - classical, pop, jazz, C&W, R&B, etc. My daughter has only been taking for 5 months and she is already sight reading both treble and bass clef on the piano! I highly recommend this studio to everyone!

love music!

Great atmosphere! Been here for years and everyone is so helpful. Not only have I learned so much about music, but I've learned so much about life and myself as well. I've grown up here and everyone has always been so kind and helped me along the way. The teachers are all very knowledgeable, with degrees in their respected fields. They make learning fun! Definitely recommend anyone who wants to learn music to come here! =]

I have been going to West Oaks Music for since I was in fourth grade. It's has a community like feel and has an incredibly friendly atmosphere. I love coming here. The teachers are friendly and professional.

You have to pay to meet the instructors because as I was told they are just so busy! I went their in person hoping to meet with the person who would be teaching my child on a monthly bases because I wanted to make sure they were a good fit and I wanted to see the curriculum that would be used. When I got there I meet the owner and the staff in charge of enrolling new students but was told that the instructors were so busy that I would have to pay $30 for my child to meet the instructor because it would be taking time out of his day. Although that did upset me a little I agreed because I was not going to pay a whole months worth of tuition for lessons without seeing if it were a good fit. So, I set up the appointment and while I was on my way there I got stuck in traffic and was running a little late. I called the staff and they were VERY rude to me. I believe it was the owner. She said that they are just too booked to have the kind of time to set aside for someone to be running late and that the instructor was loosing money. I was then hung up on!!!!! It seems to me that they get so many people that being rude to a potential customer is okay because you are easily replaced. I will never recommend this place. Why would you pay for a teacher that you are not even allowed to meet!
