Love this place and have been coming here for years. They atmosphere is very pub-like and the staff is very friendly. The owner is a bit of whack job, but he usually leaves you alone. The food is also great as I love the curry and the other dishes I have tried. It is far better than 'bar' food.

I saw FOOD CHANNEL and heard about ""good restaurants"".
I am sure the owner of RED LION must of paid good money to say on TV that that HIS restaurant is very good.
My wife and I went to eat there the next day and found out that even if the restaurant is nice, the service is terrible and the food, is nothing of what they show on TV. and over priced and not only that, the food is really terrible.
The owner does not care about the service and the quality of food.
If you want an advise, DO NOT EVER GO THERE !!

Went here the other night with a group of friends. To the dismay (I think) of the waitress, we only ordered the food (no drinks). But she was still super nice and friendly. Got the onion ring appetizer and Chicken Tika Masala. Delicious! It's a little bit on the pricey side ($18 for the bowl of masala, rice, and two pieces of Naan), but will definately go again.

There's nothing I do not like here. The food is superb...the steak on steak night melts in your mouth. The beer selection is first rate. I've introduced my parents here as well and they raved about it. The staff is top notch as well. Cheers to Red Lion! My only regret is that i've not been able to make it here more often since i moved out of the neighborhood.
Saw this pub on a TV show I watched..."Diners, Drive Ins, and DIves" on the Food network. Having grown up in England, I may be a little spoiled, eventhough British food would qualify more as comfort food rather than culianry wizardry... I have looked forward to this evening for the past 2 weeks as I have been in Houston on business. Last night I started the evening with a nice English "London" pint. Pretty good.
My appitizer was a curry pastry item for $10. I ate one of the 3.
My meal was Shephards Pie, which was featured on the show. It was mediorce at best. Certainly not what Grandma in England, made or what I make for that matter. My business associate had the Fish and Chips. The batter was not crispy, and the taste was reasonably bland. Either this was an off night all the way around, or my faith in "Drive-ins, Diners and Dives" will not be so compelling.
The atmosphere was just as a pub should be. the service was good...The food for a $35 meal was not. Thank you. I may go back...but it will strictly be to get a good English Pint.

My husband and I frequent Houston often as we have family in Houston but live in Dallas. We went to the Red Lion almost 3 months ago, we were overcharged on our Visa. I have been calling for 3 months and the owner will not return any of my calls to credit this back to my Visa. I spoke to him once in the 3 months, he admitted it was their mistake they over charged me but never credited the money back and wont return any of my calls since. I have called everyday since. It is now the point of the matter rather than the money.
I will not be going back to a place where the OWNER could care less about his customers. I will however say they staff has been friendly.

Ordered the veggie samosas, had to send them back twice because they were stone cold in the center. Waitress was pleasant. Order the ""sushi grade tuna salad"" and it had to be send back because it was way over cooked. Good beer and wine selection and good atmosphere.
I had a lot of fun hanging out with my friends at the Red Lion Pub! The service is excellent and it was a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
I had a simple salad with chicken breast as I'm not as adventurous as some. I tasted my friends dishes (the Shepherd's Pie and Chicken Tikki Masala) and everything was so flavorful! The desserts were by far my favorite. The bread pudding and the chocolate mousse are delicious and decadent!
There is a great range of food here--everything from traditional English fare like Shepherd's Pie to the Chicken Tikki Masala, which I think is the best thing on the menu. Except for maybe the desserts. The bread pudding is amazing, and the chocolate mousse cake (I forgot the actual name) is the best I've had.

The food was absolutely delicicous. I had the quesadillas and dessert following. Both dishes were GREAT!! I have never had quesadillas taste so tasty. I will definitely be going back for another fabulous meal. Also, the service was good. Bartenders, waitresses and staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice Ambiance as well.
This Pub has a lot to offer from great entrees to amazing desserts, salads and appetizers!!! They have a good amount of options and convinations. Their staff is friendly and the place is very clean, chic and with cool music. They are a great option for fresh food and awesome times with your friends or even to mingle.
Check it out!
