Midas Auto Service & Tires
I have been to several auto repair shops in Houston and this one is absolutely the worst of them, by far. So I wanted to do a simple state inspection on my car, which runs very well without any noise or problems. Their behavior was so rude, unprofessional, and dishonest and they wasted my time by making me visit four times without finishing a simple inspection although they charged me for that.
First time I went there, "their machine was down" so I came back the day after. After several hours of waiting, the rude staff told me that my car needs a CV axle replacement that costs $400 and without that replacement, they won't pass the inspection. (Note: CV axle is not even part of the state inspection!) But regardless of that they charged me for the inspection service and they gave me a 10-day grace period to fix this axle and come back to finish the inspection for free. So I replaced the axle in another shop for $250!! and came back the next week to finish the inspection for free as he promised me. But guess what? "The machine was down" again so they asked me to come back the day after. Finally, I took my car for the forth time and he told me "their machine is still down" and I need to take my car to another shop in order to catch the registration deadline. But I have already paid them for the inspection. When I complained, they just denied the whole story and whatever he already promised me to do. VERY RUDE!
I do not recommend this shabby shop to anyone. I wish I could rate them zero stars.
Dear John from Midas in Houston,
It was a cold and rainy morning the day we met. My car was in need of maintenance so I decided to suck it up to go visit your location. Instead of providing me with just the services I requested, you decided to go out of your way to do an extra "test". You end up finding that my left strut was bent and quoted me with a ridiculous price of getting it fixed and insisting I needed it to be fixed that same day. You told me if I drove away and made my trip to _____ (7 hr drive), I wouldn't make it home. Thank goodness my intuition kicked in and I didn't listen to you. Guess what John? I drove to ____, got here safely, came to my mechanic and found out NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY STRUT! You little punk! I hate you for wanting to take advantage of me! You don't win suckkaaa!
Some who just saved over $700 because she couldn't be fooled

NEVER GO TO THIS STORE! THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER! My first time there was in the spring for an oil change and alignment. When I came back to pick up my car, I discovered Whataburger napkins and straw in my car. I immediately called the manager and he was very nice and offered me a free oil change, along with promising me the tech would be disciplined. I went back for the oil change (and wasn't going to go back due to my 1st experience). I recently went for an oil change at a different location and they found some damage that had been done to my oil pan (and immediately told me as soon as they figured it out). They suggested I go confront the manage at Midas (my last oil change) b/c I would now need my oil pan replaced b/c they screwed up a part (around $500 expense!). I went to Midas and explained to the (new) manager what they told me....he was rude the whole time, interrupting me and completely denying anything and wouldn't call and speak to the other place. We went and got a written report and the tech called and told the manager what happened (clearly it was Midas fault) and the manager was rude again. I took the report and my car back to Midas to see if they would give me a deal on the replacement since it was their fault. Again the manager was extremely rude said he would not take responsibility and that his boss agreed with him but would not give me anyone's number to call. So now I am stuck paying for a new oil pan b/c they do such LOUSY work!

I had the worst experience ever at an auto repair shop, at this Midas location. In general, all auto places take advantage of customers of my gender, but this was a whole new level. I went in to get my radiator fixed- not knowing if there was any other problem also or not. The man at the front desk was slow, irritated and non-responsive, to say the least. After waiting for my turn, I told him what I thought was wrong with my car and he typed up a work order sheet. Except, that it had no list of inspections that they would be doing... and he asked me to sign at the bottom where it said ""I agree to let Midas perform the above diagnostic tests""!!! So I asked which tests exactly was I agreeing to have done, and the man just stared condescendingly at me, as if I was being difficult. Well of course I wasnt going to sign a blank sheet, so I waited for him to reply. And this is the best part-- he then TEARS UP my work request AS I WATCH and THROWS IT INTO THE TRASH, and tells me- ""why dont you just come back later"" , turns away and starts talking to the next customer. I have never been more insulted in my life. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back there again. This happened around a month ago, and I have told all my friends never to go there, and hope people who read this review will definitely think twice before going. I just didn't want this place to think they could treat me so terribly and get away with it, because I'm ""just"" a girl. Hence this review....

I have always been extremely tentative going to any place that has anything to do with automobiles. No matter who it is, you know you are going to be gouged and lied to. I chose this place after checking citysearch because I had a radiator leak and my check engine light was on. I had taken my truck to several other garages that told me everything from, the spark plugs, fuel pump, this valve or that would need to be replaced. Midas was always extremely kind and professional and let me know exactly what was wrong and how much it would cost. The problems turned out to be none of the items the previous garages had quoted. Also, the price was nowhere near the previous estimates others had given. If you are tired of getting lied to and incompetent mechanics who charge too much, go to these guys instead.
