Provided by CitysearchI frequent several locations here in Houston and love the food. On this visit however I brought my company christmas party of 30 people, and asked for the house margerita's which on the day we went are usually $5. When we recieved our alcohol bill they had charged us $15 per drink which there were 28 of! I also was charged a gratuity of almost $100 just for the bar tab. When I asked there was really no response. So if you are planning an event BEWARE they like to upcharge on partys.

Provided by CitysearchMy mom and I have been here twice. That means, my picky mom, who does not crave Mexican food, remembered it was good the first time.
We sat outside. The patio is okay but it does face a parking lot. The service outside on a Sunday was a B+.
They have $1.99 margarita happy hours on Mondays and Tuesdays. They don't have drink specials on Sundays for football. Some locations also have a taco and salsa bar.
Their white corn chips are thin and addictive.
If you plan ahead, join their mailing club and you'll get a free queso ($5.99 savings).
The servings are huge, and you will need to a to-go box. You won't mind paying $9-$10 for a chile relleno entree. You have options of a fajita beef, ground beef, and mushroom chile relleno. The chile rellenos did not look battered, but they were covered in real cheese and marianated mushrooms. They were pretty good.
My mom really liked hers, so we'll be back.

Provided by CitysearchThere are so many really good Mexian restaurants in Houston to choose from, so I just ont understand the popularity and success of this Restaurant.
Most of the dishes have a creamy sauce on the meat, the chips aren't very good, typically the service is slow and wow the emals are very heavy.
The salsa on the table is very good! Try Lupe Tortillas, Irma's, El Tiempo, Pappasitos and many other alternatives.

Provided by CitysearchI ordered some Beef Fajitas and I couldn't finish them as it was like chewing leather, and then with all of the fat in the fajita meat I had to stop chewing it and put it into napkins. The waiter and manager asked me how everything was and I told them and they just shrugged their shoulders. It took them forever to get my drink order and chips. I was basically almost done with my dinner, which I guess didn?t take me long since I didn?t each much of the leather and just at the beans, rice, and tortillas. Funny thing I was sitting at the bar, and people at tables had gotten their drinks and chips after me even thought they were seated much after I was. This was not the first time I have gotten bad service here, but after a year I figured it would have improved.
i love this restaurant, it has very good service and very good and clean aroma. the people at los cucos will treat you as home

Provided by CitysearchAltho it is located in a very upscale part of town Los Cucos has a nice relaxed feeling that makes you feel welcomed. The food is good and the Margaritas a great, I always say im only having one but end up having many many more. The restaurant could use some work tho, the wait staff is not the best and the floors are a bit dirty but it is a good restaurant overall.

Provided by CitysearchThe first time I ate here, LOVED it! The food was great and the service was wonderful - parking was a bit of a hassle...
HOWEVER, my 2nd visit was HORRIBLE! Ordered ground beef nachos and noticed that the ground beef didn't quite look as brown as 'browned beef' should appear. I informed the manager that I was concerned as the meat looked a bit raw. She insisted that the meat was fine even after I expressed to her that 'browned beef' is typically BROWN in color, not pink if it's cooked thoroughly. Her attitude at this point seemed as though she didn't much care about the fact that my food was not cooked and asked, ""So, do you want me to take your plate?"" in a very rude manner. I couldn't help but to laugh at my company in disbelief that her actions and attitude as a manager were so unbeilievable. No apology for the inconvenience or any kind of comp (which wasn't necessary, but would've been a nice gesture). No matter what she thought, pink ground beef IS NOT COOKED!! Unforunately, I will not be back to visit this location. If you order the nachos - look at your food carefully! Oh - one more thing, to top it off, there was a hair on the sour cream on the plate as the nachos as well - GAG!

Provided by CitysearchThis Mexican restaurant is located in an upscale area of town but the owner seems to be completely devoid of any understanding of service and just decent seating. For as long as I can remember the outside dinning area had these horrible $5.00 fold out chairs with plastic rubber bands strung across the seat and back of the chairs. What is the worse thing is that many of these bands were broken and so you had huge gaps in your seat where literally your ' bottom' could fall through. To make matters worse the wait staff I swear must be illegal aliens, they don't speak a lot of English, no one comes to serve you, you have to track down people to wait on you, track them down to get your food, get up and find them to pay your bill. What a nightmare. The owner simply doesn't 'get it"" . He is in a very upscale area treating people like they are eating in some dive in Tijuana. I have complained many times, is anyone listening? The food is average Tex-Mex but okay for a lunch meal. Its such a shame, this place could be so much more if only someone cared.

Here is an update (July 28). Since I complained to management they finally got rid of the 5.00 broken plastic chairs and replaced them with $10.00 metal chairs that have some padding. Service is improved at lunch but when I was there two days ago for dinner, I virtually had NO WAITER. The manager had to try and 'get to me"" when he could and I was flagging down people for water and bills. There are Mercedes, Beamers in the parking lot, a 9 million dollar penthouse, upscale townhomes and apartments that rent for 5000 month all within walking distance of this place. The owner is clueless about his clientele. He could really make this place shine if he would just invest some time and money. Most of the food is average, I had a cheese/chicken dish that was so bad I couldnt eat it. This is no Pappasitos but it is not the worse food either, its about middle of the road.

Provided by CitysearchI took my family to Los Cucos on 290 and they loved it. There was a band playing and we sat outside. THe service was great and the food was even better. They said that by far, this was the best Mexican food they had eaten. Of course, I convinced them to try the specialty items. This was a great atmosphere and made for a perfect night out for the family.

Provided by CitysearchWe came to this place for dinner after having been to the spa next door. The food is good, the price is cheap, the service could be better, but it's not too bad. Very nice outside seating specially when the weather is nice.
