Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Compression of the median nerve that passes through the carpal tunnel at the wrist is known as carpal tunnel syndrome. Initially it manifests as nocturnal tingling and numbness of the thumb and fingers with wrist pain. Gradually symptoms worsen, occurring at any time of the day. Weakness, discomfort and loss of manual dexterity can become permanent without treatment which consists of releasing the nerve compression with carpal tunnel surgery.

My sister said you are pretty sure he will not need any surgery for his orbital floor, but will look at it again next week. I’m also glad he won’t be going back to work yet and when he does...it will be desk work for 6 wks! I know it’s “your job”, blah...blah...blah...BUT I do want to tell you “Thank you” and tell you I appreciate that you took the time to look at his CT Scan last week and call me to make sure he was keeping his head elevated and that he was taking antibiotics. ESPECIALLY since he was not on antibiotics and was not elevating his head!! Thanks for calling his antibiotics in too!

Wound Care
As with all surgeries, there will be scarring at the incision site. However, Dr. Livingston performs most incision techniques in areas where your body will conceal the incisions even when wearing a bathing suit or summer attire. Scars will fade gradually with time, and with proper wound care, will be close to invisible. Dupuytren’s Disease – This is a benign but progressive palmar fibrosis common in the English and Irish during the fifth or sixth decade. Dupuytren’s disease presents as thickened cords under the skin that may be tender and eventually pull the finger towards the palm, restricting normal extension. Individuals who have diabetes, liver diseases, seizures or take certain long-term medications are more likely to develop this condition. First line treatment involves physical therapy with massage. If symptoms progress, surgical excision of the diseased and thickened tissue is indicated. Newer therapy involves injecting medications to break up the scar tissue.
