Katz's food is ""okay"" but it is overpriced and usually unbearably greasy. It seems appropriate if you are with a big group of drunk friends at five in the morning. However I have to admit we've always had superb service there and you can't deny the fried pickles or the incredible carrot cake.

The only things 'New York' about Katz's are the annoying commercials and the laughably high prices. The food is of about average qualty and I have had significantly better for less at any number of the area restaraunts mentioned in this venue. The hours cannot be beat, though...

Katz's is one of the best hang-outs Houston has to offer. The atmosphere is extremely comfortable and inviting. The waitstaff is to die for. They will not only cater to your every whim, but they are also some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The food is amazing, you deffinetly get what you pay for, but the desserts are like big chunks of heaven. But the best part of Katz's is that it never closes!!

Katz's is absolutly the best place to relax and get something to eat after a late night of dancing and whatever else has been on the agenda for the night. Their menu is never-ending and all of the food is superb. The atmosphere is welcoming, but beyond all of that, the staff is friendly. Let's face it, the waiters deal with a lot of people who are just too much, or have had ...too much and they still manage to be as cordial as can be. Unlike a little late-night vietnamise place that I will never go back to, Katz's is clean, friendly, and fun for all! Way to go Houston. We made the right choice!

Originally from NE Philadelphia so I know a good hoagie/sandwich when I eat one. My husband and I have always wanted to give Katzs Deli a try. We did just that a few weeks ago. We left the restaurant feeling very disappointed and wondering how five of us could have spent so much money on sandwiches and side dishes (no alcohol and no desert were ordered!?) The food was mediocre at best and the service was just o.k. Very over priced, for five of us ordering sodas, sandwiches, and one side dish; our bill was nearly $90.00. Im not kidding. Whatever you do, do not order the Philadelphia cheese steak (I havent quite figured out why restaurants believe a Philadelphia cheese steak is all green peppers and onions and very little steak!) I would recommend Jasons Deli over Katzs any day of the week. We will Never eat there again.

Excellent food - love the blintzes - combined with a great atmosphere. Like many I first stumbled upon Katz's while doing time in Austin and now happy that it's made its way to Houston. Great for those late nights on the town - something to soak up the alcohol.

You get what you pay for at Katz's. I've gone there after a bar crawl a few times only to be disappointed over and over again. To be truthfull the food tastes like crap.. There is nothing on the menu that does not taste like crap. It's cheap food, but it's still crap. Everything else is average, but the service has always been good.

Some after-hours eateries have great food or service or atmosphere, Katz's is the only one I've found that offers all three, all day, all night. I love the ""trademark"" reuben, fried pickles & cheesecake shake. I wish every city I travelled to had a Katz's.

Jewish brothers from Atlanta, GA visiting the local spots in Houston, TX......
If you are in the mood for a great deli with a large menu selection, Katz's is the place for you. They have a robust selection of sandwiches and other types of lunch foods. In addition, the desert menu is out-of-sight. Be prepared to spend a little money because Katz's isn't cheap but it is worth the spend. Lunch Sandwiches ranges from $7-$12 and that doesn't include a side item. For those of you that enjoy Jewish delicatesants, this is the place for you. By the way, this place is open 24/7 so feel free to frequent Katz's after a long evening out on the town.
