Dr. J. Albert Schultz founded Ionwerks as a provider of surface analysis systems and equipment in 1986. The company has designed, delivered and integrated spectrometer systems at National Institutes of Health, Argonne National Labs, Los Alamos National Labs, Texas A&M University, Battelle, University of Virginia, University of North Carolina-Chappell Hill, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, IBM-Yorktown, Naval Research Laboratory, Oxxel and JEOL. Ionwerks manufactures a line of instrumentation and equipment for use in time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Its products include an alkali ion beam line based on surface ionization sources, compact ortho-tof mass spectroscopy system for biomass analysis, microcircuit and semiconductor receiving inspection detector system for isotopic detection of ions with resolutions between 400 and 600 atomic mass unit and an 8-channel time-to-digital converter that makes it possible to monitor surface structure and composition during thin film growth. Ionwerks is located in Houston.
