The dresser that cut my hair ...

The dresser that cut my hair had 10 years of experience, but I believe since I was getting a discounted service through Living Social, he didn't want to spend time with me. (I thought that was because it was Saturday, but reading other review I realized that it was because the voucher).

I told him what I wanted, along with showing a picture and explained to him every detail about how I like my hair especially the fact that I don't have time to style it on the daily basis.

I repeatedly asked his opinion if I had made a good choice considering my type of hair and he told me it was a good option. When he left me alone a few times during our "conversation", I should have realized that he was not paying attention at all to what I was saying.

When he finished his service he asked me how committed I was to making my hair pretty and like I told him before, I don't have time to style my hair every morning. So he told me that in this case, my hair would not be as good as I wanted.

At this moment, I was sure that he never really listened to a single word that I had told him... but it was too late.

And also, the final straw was that the hairstyle was not even close to the picture showed him.

A week later I realized that his goal was to promote "The Lion King" movie... because it is exactly how my hair looks like, the lion... congratulations! At least I already have an idea what will be my Halloween costume for this year!

Not Even Worth 1 Star

The most absolute miserable atmosphere I have ever been seen.....The majority of the stylist seem to hate their jobs and mostly each other...I have never been in a salon were the stylist are apparently not allowed or do not want to have any type of relationship with their clientele other than on a business capacity......The stylist do not smile and just look as though they would rather be anywhere but at Clique Salon....good grief change careers or change salons!!!!! The only reason I give them 1 star is for location......Please Please do yourself a favor go elsewhere....

Oustanding customer service and Skilled stylist!

I hate the cost of a high-end salon, but Clique earns my patronage:

So, for the last ten years, I have had really long hair. I always trimmed my own ends and bangs because I didn't see the point of paying salon prices to maintain my no-frills look. Flash forward to now, after hacking off 14-16 inches for Locks of Love, I wanted a specialist to make the cut right.

Trish was my gal!

She created a perfectly shaped bob that accentuated my face and had all the right angles. She even managed to cut my bangs well despite my darn ""cow lick"" right at my hairline. She really took the time to listen and interpret what I wanted into what would work.

We even added color! Since high school I had always dreamed of having some cool burgandy highlights, but never colored my hair. It just seemed out of place, but Trish picked the perfect shade and seamlessly added it to my hair. Seeing how great it looked was enough to make this stoic customer giggle!

I've been back three times since. Trish has always done great.

Oh, and there was a frustrating mix up with the receptionist, which had me fuming enough to consider never returning, but Trish intervened, got the manager Natalie involved, and in the end, Clique saved the day and had a satisfied customer. They are willing to work to solve problems, as long as you give them the chance.

very nice experience

I got there because of living social deals offer - as the salon is upstairs I wouldn't probably notice it but thanks to a coupon I went there.
I love the location in Rice Village and the salon is quite big and nicely designed.
Receptionist is super nice and very patient.
I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes. I was offered sth to drink.
My hairdresser Erika did a good job on my hair - I like the haircut, I like the color, I loved the massage of my head and neck. I really got relaxed which does not happen to me very often.
Hair cosmetics are not overprized and the choice is quite big.
They validate the parking ticket so there's no problem with parking as Rice Village is rather tough to park outside.
I will definitely come back there.

Best Experience!

Best Experience!

I went to this salon 2 weeks ago after searching for a new stylist. I heard about Trish at Clique in Rice village and decided to give it a try. The salon was very nice . Trish greeted me and consult about my color and cut. She was really thorough with my questions I had. I got simply color for low maintence and a layered cut. It was a very nice brown color and I Love the cut! My husband even complimented on my hair (normally he doesnt ever notices it.). Thanks Trish!!

Worst Haircut I've Ever Had

I went to this salon on the basis of a friend's recomendation. As she has great hair, my expectations were high that I too would have a good experience. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case. The first thing I noticed was that they were playing very loud music like what you would hear in a night club which is not my idea of a relaxing atmosphere. Next, the stylist I had, Trish, didn't listen to a thing I said regarding my hair. I told her that I wanted the color to remain close to the same (it was a reddish brown) but that I wanted the color to be more intense and a deeper red. Somehow, this got translated into a want my hair copper with blonde highlights. I went back a second time to have the color corrected and while it is better, it is still not close to what I had envisioned. Worse than the color though is the actual hair cut. I explained to Trish (as I always do because I know how my hair behaves better than anyone) that my hair is curly and it shrinks considerably after it is dry. She didn't listen and cut my bangs while they were wet and cut them WAY too short and at an angle so that one piece sticks out now and the sides are curled and puffy. I can always tell when it's been too long between haircuts because I resort more often to ponytails and headbands but, I have NEVER had the expereience before of needing to resort to that for a brand new haircut. Extremely disapointed and won't be back. Don't let this woman touch your hair.

Rushed and Expensive

The first thing I noticed was that there was no wonderful smell when I walked in which is typical of an Aveda salon. My stylist, Trish, rushed me in and then rushed me out. It seemed she was making comments about my hair that were rude and she seemed snobby. I've never had a cut for that price and I go to Aveda always so I was very displeased when she didn't do an aromatherapy massage before my shampoo and when she acted like she was in such a hurry to cut my hair and get me out of there. While drying my hair she had the dryer on the hottest setting and wasn't moving it around and she burned my scalp in 2 areas. The manager was in the front when I left and she rudely said ""thanks"" and didn't even look at me when she said it. Not what I'd expect from an Aveda salon in the least. For $65 I expected a little more personalization and calming experience. I will never go back. Oh, I also asked for a $50 stylist and I got a $65 stylist, but didn't find out until they asked me to pay. This place isn't worth it. Find another!

SO BAD!

I have been to this salon before and have had some mixed experiences with haircuts and highlights, but this last experience was the last straw. I had the worst color experience ever. Not only did they not listen to my request, they were obviously reticent in how they did the hair color. My hair was a disaster with patches of different colored hair that was inconsistent throughout. Worst of it all, the stylist told me that there was no issue with the color and that it looked fine. I left the salon to meet friends, and they could not believe that a stylist would let me walk out without trying to fix this disaster. Never again!

HORRIBLE!

I am usually not much of a complainer. I am a physician and way too busy to take time out of my day to write a review. However, I decided it was my duty as a consumer to warn fellow patrons of my HORRIBLE experience. My first visit to Clique in the Village was for a simple trim and color touch up which no one could really screw up. Trish was my stylist, and she advised me that since I had a hectic schedule she was willing to come to my home and do my hair. She also told me that she would charge almost 50% less than if I were to come into the salon.
Trish told me she was a master stylist, and I assumed I could trust her. So I took Trish up on her offer, and it was the worst mistake I have ever made. Trish arrived at my home, and I asked her for a layered-cut and highlights. She acted hurriedly and sloppily. She left me with choppy hair and blotchy, brassy sections which were falling out. I asked her to fix it, but she continued to butcher it. The next day I called Clique to see if I could come in for a repair, and they said they would call me back to schedule. I still have not heard from them. I couldn't wait for them to make time for me so I went to another salon and they were flabbergasted by the condition Trish left my hair. They noted that my hair was severely damaged. And they couldn't understand what kind of cut Trish was trying to achieve because there was no uniformity.
Take it from me fellow patrons...Clique salon has poorly trained stylists who cannot be trusted especially Trish. And Clique management...beware of your stylists undercutting your business while giving you a bad name. The positive reviews posted for her are guaranteed to be her friends. I would never recommend Trish.

Do Your Hair a Favor, Avoid Clique Salon!

I have been searching Houston trying to find a good stylist for the last few months. I was encouraged by the positive reviews and booked my appointment. The only positive thing about this salon is that the receptionist promptly got me a glass of water.

The stylist rushed me in and out lightening fast. I arrived at 5:00 and was out the door at 5:19. It seemed the only thing she was concerned about was getting me out of there as soon as possible. Scissors were wielded in a haphazard way and she put no effort towards achieving a good haircut. It looked decent in the mirror from a distance while sitting in the chair, but when I got home random hairs were sticking up all over the place. The worst thing about was that she messed up the neckline. That is absolutely unacceptable.

$42 plus tip for a men's haircut is expensive. I expect to get what I pay for and this place does not deliver. I bet I could get a better haircut at a barber shop for $8. Do yourself and favor and don’t book an appointment here.

Don't go to the beginner stylists!!

The beginner stylist cost me about 28 if I remember correctly. He SUCKED. The left side of my head was slightly shorter than the right side. He took absolutely forever. He starting massaging me while washing my hair, which made me feel somewhat uncomfortable, being a guy. He really had no idea as to how to approach my thick hair. I didn't come out looking terrible but I didn't come out look good and if you looked closely nothing was even. He also tried to get me to buy some wax from him which was quite annoying. I really did like the oil they put on my neck to shaving it wouldn't cause any irritation.

In summary, don't go to beginner stylists. They really are beginners. Just because they are working at a high end salon doesn't mean they are any better ""beginners"" than the ones at say Visible Changes or the like (but at least he didn't rush you out like them). I can't comment on any other stylists however.

Artisic Feel, Fantastic Haircuts

Clique has a location downtown in the Houston Pavilions. It's right across the street from where I work, so I'm able to go for my cuts on a lunch break or when I leave early from work. Very convenient. The staff is super friendly, and they're always really concerned with creating a positive experience for me. Great haircuts, and a great place to relax for a few minutes!

Great place for difficult hair

I have been trying for 6 years to find a salon that can work with thinning hair. I was referred to Clique by a lady I was talking to in line at Central Market. The appt. was great. I did not have to wait and was treated to the best shampoo. No one has ever washed my hair and given me a neck massage at the same time. Amanda gave me a cut and color that really appeared to thicken my hair. The real test was I was able to fix it myselt. Yes... I will be going back again and again.

Take it from me.....I'm picky!

I have been coloring my hair since I was in high school. I have been to various different types of salons and had various different types of stylists work on my hair.
I began coming to Clique in 2003 and have never looked back. I have NEVER been stopped and asked where I get my hair done so much as since Amanda Gernander has been my stylist. Literally strangers stop me. In an extreme situation, someone took a picture of my hair in a grocery store so they could show their stylist. I gave her a Clique card in case the person she was so loyal to couldn't work it out.
Everytime I go, I get more business cards so that when people stop me, I can direct them to Clique.
What I appreciate is that not only is the quality of the work great from my stylist, I would trust anyone in there if she was busy. They are obviously very particular about who they hire.
I am recommending them because it is really hard to find people that can do really great color. As a total bonus, the cuts are just as amazing and the service and products are top quality. If you have not been to Clique....you are missing out!

perfect salon

I've never been a fan of fancy salons, but after being referred here by a friend I quickly became one. Not only is the location perfect right in the middle of Rice Village, but the whole staff is always so nice and upbeat. I've been going for 2 years now, and just couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Dayna is my stylist and always does such a good job, even when I'm wanting to try something different I feel really comfortable after our consulation.

Great Salon!

I heard about this salon from a friend after having many frustrating hair experiences. I'm a blond (well was when I was a kid and try to keep it that way) and it's hard to get the right blond. After talking to my stylist she colored my hair the perfect blond. Not crazy bleach out blond, just light enough but still natural looking. Then gave me a great haircut with some new fun bangs. It was great from beginning to end. I even got to relax with a glass of wine! I love this place and my new bangs!
