Restaurants in Houston come and go with amazing speed. But Cavatore's has been around for a long time. I think it's because they continue to serve up consistently good food. We used to live in the area but moved away recently. I was craving the caesar salad so my husband and I drove back to the neighborhood. We were greeted by a new face. I think her name was Sharon. She was gracious and friendly. There was piano music that night which made for nice atmosphere. Not too loud but nice to listen to. What I like about this place is that the food is reasonably priced and portions are pretty large. I started with the table side caesar salad. Love watching them prepare it and you also get to choose which ingredients to put in it-like anchovies and garlic. I then had the Italian sausage with pasta. The flavors blend well together. It was really good. My husband had the steak with brandy sauce. He was equally pleased with his meal. We skipped dessert but ordered coffee. When they brought out our coffee it was accompanied by a complimentary tasting of gelato. Turns out the restaurant was trying out a new concept. We thought the gelato was a nice touch. All in all, great time.
My husband and I brought our two kids to Cavatore last Saturday. It was my daughter's 10th birthday. We made a reservation through OpenTable. I love that they have that option. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and seated at the exact table I selected on the OpenTable app. Our server greeted us and brought fresh garlic bread to our table. My family and I loved everything we ordered. After we were done with our meal, our server brought out a piece of the best Tiramisu I have ever had. They even put a candle on top! It was so sweet and thoughtful. I know my daughter will always remember her 10th birthday. Cavatore is a great place to have birthday dinners!
We dined at Cavatore's for Mother's Day and had a wonderful experience. The place was very busy but our service was great. Our waiter was very friendly and was knowledgeable about the specials and wine list. The lasagna and tiramisu are two of my favorite items.Delicious!! We have frequented Cavatore's many times over the years and have never been disappointed! We will be back soon. Keep up the good work.
Like any other Houstonian on a diet, I was in search for a healthy meal loaded with flavor. My friend from work recommended Cavatore Italian Restaurant a couple of weeks ago. She could not stop talking about the casual atmosphere and delicious food. So last Friday my boyfriend and I decided to try it. We were greeted by a hostess that made us feel extremely welcomed. We were seated in the main room and our waiter greeted us. My boyfriend and I felt like the staff was very friendly and it seemed as if they were excited we were there. I read through the menu and searched for a healthy option. The Petti Di Pollo Alla Griglia immediately caught my eye. I chose gluten free and whole wheat pasta and ordered a side of spinach. I loved that Cavatore lets you chose between regular pasta and whole wheat pasta. This was perfect for my diet! We sat and listened to the piano player as we waited for our food. Our food arrived shortly after we ordered it. My chicken was cooked to perfection and was loaded with flavor. My spinach and whole wheat pasta were also very appetizing. My boyfriend and I both agreed that Cavatore would become a regular dining spot for us. My meal was healthy and loaded with flavor. I was also very satisfied with the service. Cavatore is doing a great job! Can't wait to go back!
Cavatore Italian Restaurant serves family-friendly Italian fare. This red-checkered tablecloth restaurant has been serving country-style Italian fare since 1984. Rustic and charming, from the outdoor paddle wheel to the open-loft ceiling, you will experience a unique setting as soon as you step into this 100 year old barn turned restaurant. Located near the Heights on Ella Boulevard a few blocks inside the 610 loop. SInce our last visit a couple of years ago, we understand that Cavatore has acquired new management.
We were disappointed to discover that the former piano player, Michael Angelo, who was always very friendly and accommodating, had been replaced by a duo of musicians who are billed as playing jazz but who in actuality, at least while we were present, performed a mixed musical selection. We understand that the food and service has declined somewhat under the new management. We would concur based upon our most recent dining experience. While our service was good and the food quality acceptable if average, it failed to excite us nor did it seem as savory as in the past. For the price diners can do better if seeking authentic Italian cuisine.
Old world standard Italian dishes are served in a casual space adorned with an eclectic blend of memorabilia from across Italy. Appetizers include Italian meats and cheeses, squid and escargot. Classic entrees include Spaghetti, ravioli, cannellone and linguini. From the Calamari Fritti appetizer to the Lasagna Al Forno, this casual Italian restaurant provides many several options sure to appeal to the children as well as adults in the group . Leave room for traditional "dolci" like cannoli, tiramisu and spumoni.
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply taking a break from the workday world, Cavatore’s is a good choice for a reasonably priced casual Italian venue with an appealing décor. Hopefully Cavatore will regain its stride soon.

I would not give this Barn ( shack ) even one star. This is the worst Italian food we have ever tasted and the funny thing is the waitress even confirms that. Martha used to be our waitress for years and she confirms the place has been in decline and getting worse over the years. What a shame.
Literally the WORST Italian food anyone can ever taste.

I was at Cavatore for my friend's birthday party on Saturday night. It was a tremendous experience! I never expected to find such a place in the middle of a neighborhood that is not trendy (yet).
Their patio has hanging colorful lights every where, cool outdoor tables, fun pinatas, a DJ, full bar and some appetizers. It was perfect.
We live abroad and credit cards companies don't understand we can be in two different countries on the same day. In most restaurants they act stiff and untrusty when my credit card is declined. The two managers on duty were great and didn't. They were funny about it, they just wanted us to enjoy the party and suggested we went to an ATM after the party ended so we woudn't miss the fun.
It was an amazing experience and I want to be back as soon as possible!

I was here in Houston for job training and given a recommendation for this restaurant by 2 different co-workers. What an experience. I got to listen to live jazz piano during dinner. I had the canneloni stuffed with veal. The fresh tomato sauce was to die for. And the tiramasu I had for dessert was as light as air. I will definitely be going back before I go home.

My brother and his fiance'e feted their Rehearsal Dinner at Cavatore's Italian Restaurant. The General Manager, Federico Cavatore was congenial and even helped us hang two banners that read, 'Congratulations Brother and New Sister' on the wall. He was a cultivated and polite young manager--refined yet real. Wine and water flowed, our appetizers efficiently served, and all of our friends were complimenting the staff because they were so attentive we felt like aristocrats. Our friends happily indulged in the copious amounts of ambrosial cuisine! My brother and his fiance would not have chosen another venue to celebrate their Rehearsal Dinner because this inviting family restaurant was perfect. It is neither Cici's Pizza or Chuck E.Cheese's nor Collina's or Olive Garden. Cavatore's is a ludique yet informally sophisticated place where we are happy to frequent. To the man and his wife who will never go there again, I may cross paths with you one day at Chuck E. Cheese's--no reason to act like a sour grape there!!!!!!

I have been going to Cavatore Italian Restaurant for over 10 years and have always gotten delicious food and great service. The manager, Federico Cavatore, is a gracious host and always makes me feel very welcome and special. The waiters are also very friendly and quick to take care of me. It is my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston. Needless to say, I have never been disappointed! The caesar salad is to die for and the pasta pescatore is divine!

I think I picked the the perfect place for my husband's 40th birthday surprise when I decided on Cavatore. The entire staff was inviting and completely helpful throughout planning the night. Then when the evening rolled around, it went off without a hitch. All 15 or so guests were kept happy with drinks and a wonderful meal. I absolutely loved the food and our delightful server, Ana! Even the kitchen staff stepped in to help prevent a birthday cake catastrophe! We will surely be back!
I had been to this restaurant a couple of times over the years, then went again last Saturday. The food is high-priced and not really tasty. Even the chocolate mousse-type dessert was less than delicious, which is unusual for Italian restaurants. The food is disappointing, to say the least, especially considering how high the prices.

My wife and I have being going here for years because of the charm of the place even though we have always felt the service was lacking. However our visit Friday night was horrible! Not only were we ignored by the waiter. We did finally get to rder food only to wait over 35 mins for it. When I finaly got fed up & told them to cancel my food. The Manager/Owner (Federico Cavatore) was down right unbelievably disrespectful. When I wouldn't agree with him, he got furious!
I will never return to this restaurant!!!!!

Last month my sister, husband and I decided to take our 84 year old dad to a special evening. We went to Cavatore early before the crowd. We were placed in a small room in the front of the restaurant. Our waiter was also serving a group in the private room directly in front of the door. Our waiter greeted us and never came back with our drinks. My sister went to the bar to get our tea and wine. We were never served bread until we got up and asked another server to get us some. Our food was o.k. but remember this was a celebration. (Dad out of the hospital). When we waved to our waiter to please give us water, he made faces, like we were bothering him. We asked to see the dessert tray and that was like asking for blood. The dessert arrived later and then the coffee. We paid and left. In the car we discussed how poorly the service was and my sister decided to make a call, just to let them know .Not trying to get anything from them.. She left a message and the owner called and apologized and invited us to come back…. Well we hesitated but went….WELL the owner was not there and the manager treated us like we were lying. She asked to see our statement from when we were there and had us wait until she verified it. She asked us to wait until her assistant arrived, which all he did was walk passed us without saying a word. By then we were not happy. We told her to just give us the bill. So she deducted what we had spent the last time and had us pay for the remaining balance. We told her that we were not the kind of people that would try to lie to an establishment. The original owner told us by phone that this was a family owned restaurant and they survive by word of mouth and they were sorry for the bad service the first time. Well we will never go back and we will tell all our friends that they do not stand by their word. We left embarrassed and angry.

I recently dined at Cavatore for the first time after hearing about it on the Groupon site. I was very pleased with my experience. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and we jokingly asked for ""the best seat in the house."" The staff member (maybe a manager?) took us to one of the special enclosed seating areas and we loved our table.
Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the ingredients and all of the food/bev items on the menu. The restaurant was busy for dinner and we never felt that our service was compromised in any way. The food was tasty and we will definitely be going back for more!
In the future, I'd like to go back with a larger group as the decor and ambience truly makes it a ""homey"" and friendly atmosphere.

Cavatore's has a lunch item, ""Gamberi Con Capesante"" for $9.00 on the lunch menu. It is sauteed shrimp & scallops with garlic & fresh herbs in lemon butter sauce.
The dinner menu has ""Gamberi Della Casa"" for $20.00 which is sauteed shrimp & scallops in a garlic lemon butter sauce served on a bed of angel hair pasta.
I ordered the lunch, Gamberi Con Capesante for $9.00 and asked if I could add a quarter cup of pasta. I was directed to the dinner item for $20.00. A quarter cup of angel hair pasta is not worth $11.00. After eating there may times, that was my final visit.

This restaurant not only has a unique charm and feel but the staff serves wonderful food. I was really impressed with the service and I've been back several times for lunch. The menu is extensive and the recipes quite authentic. I felt very satisfied by the entire dining experience at Cavatore and have recommended it to several friends.

I LOVE this restaurant!! My family and I ate at Cavatore recently and it cemented the fact that it is my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston. Upon being seated we were given a warm basket of garlic bread. I wish I could tell you how it tasted, but my dad ate it all…. obviously, it was good. We ordered the Caesar Salad, which was made fresh at our table…YUM!!! I highly recommend it! I ordered the Rosemary Chicken and my parents enjoyed the Tournedos Di Manzo. For dessert we somehow saved room for Tiramisu and Cappuccinos--- how could you go wrong there??? All was amazing!
What makes Cavatore really shine as an all in all STANDOUT experience is not just the food but the ambiance and the staff. I took my parents to Cavatore because I remembered that they had a live pianist. As always, it was a delight to eat and have the beautiful live music in the background. We were greeted by the host who seated us and went from table to table ensuring that everyone was happy with their experience. He took the time to talk to us about the restaurants history and the décor and so it turns out he was actually a Cavatore. It’s few and far between these days to eat at a family owned and operated restaurant.
This is a restaurant for me which never disappoints.

We just had our office luncheon. The place was packed and we thought service was going to be slow. It has happened in other places. Not there! Food was delicious and served right on time.
Most people like to complain when service is bad but almost no one praises... Go Cavatore!
