My boyfriend has been ordering arrangements for me from Breen's for years (Old Town Spring). But I will never forget the look on his face when he came to my classroom and saw the arrangement that was delivered to me on 2/13/15. He is a romantic at heart and loves making me smile. But his face just went to stone and he just stood there and stared at the arrangement. He never leaves there spending less than a $100.00 dollars before delivery charges. The first words out of his mouth was, I could have gotten a better arrangement from Krogers and spent a whole lot less. In the past, I have ALWAYS been AMAZED at the arrangements that have been delivered from Breens. BUT THIS ONE FELL WAY short.In a 100.00 plus arrangement, there were ONLY 3 RED ROSES in the ENTIRE bouquet. I had to convince him to go back to the florist and ask them if this was the correct arrangement that was chosen to be given to me. Mind you, he PHYSICALLY WENT to the store and saw various arrangements and PICKED the ONE he wanted made. He was very nice in explaining to the female that he was a regular and always spend a lot of money there and wanted to know about the arrangement. She told him that is what was made, and to be delivered. She said, "do you want me to spruce it up a little. He hesitantly, said yes.So she took the arrangement and added approximately 6 more green stem-like flowers and changed the vase from a pretty square one to an ordinary round vase and gave him a package of chocolate candy. When he walked out of the store, he said, I guess I will have to find somewhere else to spend my $100.00 + dollars for flowers. I feel absolutely miserable for him. He feels as though HE let me down on this special day for romance.
I have ordered flowers many times from Breens for a variety of occasions. Each time I have been more than pleased with the product and have received rave reviews from recipients about the designs, the freshness, and the friendliness of the delivery people.
My sister wired a request for an arrangement for my birthday. They delivered it across the street to someone that was not home for another two days. I called to ask and they sent out another arrangement that have 4 tulips, 3 small roses, and some purple small flowers for an arrangement that was supposedly worth $75 not including the delivery. My son also sent me a plant which they delivered the same way and when they brought out the replacement it had broken leaves and did not even have a card. To add to the completely unprofessional service, my neighbors brought the flowers back to me and the florist sent the rude delivery people out to pick up the duplicate delivery. Had those flowers not had cards on them, I would have never known my son sent anything. I worked for a florist before I moved to Houston in an area where flowers were a lot more expensive and can honestly say, I have never sent someone out to pick up ones three days after they were delivered wrong by us or ripped off someone who ordered flowers through wire because they wouldn't ever know what was delivered. I will personally buy flowers from any other florist or even a supermarket before I would use this florist or any of the other four businesses they own. If I could give them less than one star I would.
