One of their better locations.

This location is much better than the one in the Woodlands, but is neither the best nor the worst Japanese restaurant I've been too.

In terms of food, the quality is both fresh and consistently well prepared. Although a couple of menu items are great, the overall taste of the food is about average for a Japanese restaurant. The hibachi show is also pretty entertaining and has a lot of flair, and the chefs do a much better job at preparing the food than at the Woodlands location. Despite having pretty good food, you also get very little for what you pay in comparison to other restaurants.

The service here is also pretty good and much more attentive than the location in the Woodlands, but at the same time it isn't exceptional service for a restaurant. The atmosphere is also much better than the Woodlands location and the Hibachi areas are also more private. This location is both great for parties and a romantic evenings.

Bottom line, if you want to go to Benihana then this is probably one of their better locations in Houston. However if you are looking for great Japanese food, then you may want to explore and try other restaurants.

Good

If you are looking for a place to eat lunch, and you are craving for some hibachi meal, this is the place to go. Food is really good, and the cook are good but it all depends on who you get. It is a good place if you want to eat lunch with friends. The cooks' shows are alright, and they usually come up with the same thing.

Time changes

This year will my 25th annual birthday. I have seen a lot of changes through 25 years. I liked the old chefs back in 1980s because they were real Asians who cooked. Now, I notice there are variety of cookers but their skills are pretty steady as they are being trained. The foods are still great through 25 years. Refilling drinks service is still slow that never changed, lol. That place is like my 2nd home and I walked and used the pitcher to refill the tea. (Don't try it if the employees don't know you). Benihana is the best birthday place to celebrate, in my opinion.

Cooking and a Show!

I've been to this restaurant twice. No reservations particulary needed and there's prompt seating. You sit at a large table and in front of you sits this large cooking area. Almost immediately, a large family sits WITH you and for a moment, with my first visit to Benihanas, I was terribly confused and had difficulty grasping the thought of sharing the table with strangers, but I now go with the flow. You recieve onion soup, shrimp and your choice of either fried rice or steam rice automatically. All very tasty. Expect to be drooling while you recieve a Cooking Show! My boyfriend really preferred a Japanese Chef seeing how the restaurant is Japanese. They need to change up the show a tad. Add some new creativity! That would be my only actual complaint. You automatically get a choice of dessert as well. Orange Sorbet or Strawberry Icecream. You don't leave the restaurant rolling over stuffed, but you don't leave hungry. Plate prices range $15-$40. If the shows were a good variety, I'd visit ALOT more.

Great for Lunch!

This place is great for lunch. The price you pay matches the value of the food. The waitresses are ok, we've had some bad ones. But if you have time to wait, ask for Luis as your chef! He was fun and very entertaining! Dinner can be a nightmare, it gets very crowded.

below average

We went there on a tuesday night, it was slow the food took so long. The sushi is average. I taste better and fresher sushi. The servers are rude and the service is slow. People go there just for the sake of the brand name and the cooking show ...other than that...not worth going or spending a dime on it!

Friday Night at Benihana

Great place to eat with a table full of riends and family, or a dinner for two. The wait staff need to refill glasses more often, but that is the onlu complaints. If you come at peak time, you should make reservations. I place you need to eat at ever 3-4 months.

Not so hot

I expected much more after hearing and reading reviews. I made reservations weeks in advance and still was not seated for half an hour. The hibachi chef was one of the most unentertaining I have ever seen. The hibachi scallops tasted horrible for the price I paid for them.

overated

Have been there twice, both times I felt the waitstaff was on the impersonel side and the food portions were small and overpriced. The table show? it's obvious that they only put the experienced chefs and eger to please waitstaff on the more ""lucretive"" tables (buisness dinners ect) while the rest of us kind of get the stepchild treatment. I understand that they cater to the high end business crowd and thats fine, but they shouldn't make it so obvious.

Bad exprience

The food in Benihana is not as good as other Japanese restaurants in Houston (ex:Kaniyama, Koto, etc). and service is not good- the waitress only came to us once(except taking order and giving us our check). That was a really bad exprience.

No - I don't think so

I'm sorry, but Tokyohana is so much better than Benihana. All the other stuff has nothing to do with it; Tokyohana has better food, bottom line. I mean who cares about service and atmosphere if the food isn't good. The thing is - Tokyohana has all three of these things and Benihana doesn't. All they have is Atmosphere. Tokyohana brings to the table great food (literally) and services. Try them, you won't be disapintated.

One heck of an experience

I highly recommend this establishment. To make it even more fun, bring a group of friends, although meeting perfect strangers is certainly enjoyable at times.

YUM YUM YUM

My family has been going here for years. We always have a good time and enjoy the food. I dont think its much of a romantic dinner but its great for groups of people or just buddies.

Why do we keep going back?

Despite being expensive, having average quality food and service my kids keep dragging me back there. It just costs a lot to get full here - but the kids love the show.
